Port discomfort after eating? Freaking out.
I have the same feeling when I eat more than usual or drink a lot of water in a short time. My Dr also told me that as your stomach shrinks, there is less room so I would feel the stomach muscles working and moving near my port. My port is stapled to my stomach. I know the new ports are not.

Jenny Craig's new Campaign ::eye roll::
They do the same thing on the Nutri System commercial. They show a dirty blonde haired actress or something with a huge baggy brown dress on. Than they say she lost 30 pounds, but her face, etc look the same. Just a dress that actually fits her! I did Jenny Craig and had good results but it doesn't teach you how to eat and cook for yourself. Also, I gained double back! Has anyone seen Kristy Alley? They estimate she gained more than what she had lost back? We all know that it is really, really hard to maintain the loss!

Mean people
I completely agree! I've lost 69 pounds to date and am amazed at how differently people treat, even talk to me. I've worked at the same bank since before my surgery. I see most of the customers on a weekly basis. It amazes me how they act differently towards me now than they did before. Even my coworkers have noticed. I've had customers say to me "I thought you were attractive before but just never said anything." Yeah, so now that I"m smaller you say something! Give me a break! I do also agree that I see things differently and project myself differently. My boss said it best, "You're happier with yourself and it shows in your attitude." People have also commented that it was the easy way out. I tell them that it is in now way easy!

Am i just not getting it???
Hello: I was banded 9/4/2007. Are you following the "rules"? Taking tiny bites and chewing until it is mush. Eating slowly? Eating the right foods? I've been to a lot of support group meetings and have several acquaintances that have the band and most of them aren't following these guidelines. I'm not saying that it is easy or that I haven't lost sight of them at times, but just seeing if this could be a reason. Also, I know once I PB my band gets irritated for at least a day. I go on a liquid diet for 1 to 1.5 days and then I usually get back on track. Good Luck!

2 days post-op and boy it hurts...
I was banded 9/4/07 and was miserable for 2 weeks. I was back in the hospital 2 times because of dehydration. I had terrible diarrhea also and had pain no matter what I did. I didn't find the gas x really worked, but did find that walking, even around my living room, did ease the gas. Believe it or not, doing the downward dog yoga pose also helps pass the gas out! I know it sounds crazy but I had gotten it off of this very website and was at the end of my rope. It works! Hang in there. You'll look back and be happy that you pushed through!

Stomach Bug????
I was banded 9/4/2007. I had the stomach bug for the first time with the band this past week! OMG! Everytime I would try to throw up it would just not come out! It was horrible! I wished I could throw up to get it over with! Also, it made me my port hurt and reminded me of right after surgery! It's three days later and my port is still sore. I'm going to call my dr next time!

Does your band loosen up two weeks post fill?
I got filled 3.7cc also in my 10cc band Dec 4th. I felt restriction for @ 10 days and then was back to none! My doctor told me that it rarely takes just one fill to find the "sweet spot". I have to go and be evalutated again before I can get adjusted. It feels like such a teaser to have restriction and then lose it so quickly! It does give me the confidence, though, that I will be able to succeed this time with my weight loss journey once I hit the "sweet spot"!

AmeriHealth
I have Amerihealth NJ. I had surgery 9/4/2007. The surgery cost over $23,000 (all together) and I only have to pay $924.00! It took one day for me to get approved! I was amazed too! Good Luck!

Protein Supplements
I had such a hard time finding a protein supplement that I actually liked and didn't leave an aftertaste. I LOVE Worldwide Pure Protein Shakes in Frosted Chocolate and Cookies'n Cream. They come premade in soda can form. They have 35 grams of protein. I would buy them at GNC to see if you like them (in the cooler). If you do, they are cheaper online at the Worldwide website. I also like Matrix 5.0 Cookies and Cream, but it is too sweet for me to use everyday. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Silly post-op question that I forgot to ask..
My surgeon told me that women become much, much more fertile after the band. Something to do with the fat dissolving and hormone levels. Probably a good idea to wait for your shot:o

Name one thing people would be surprised to know about you
Here are somethings that no one knows about me: 1) I was sexually abused by my father until I was ten years old and he was put in jail. He also abused three other girls (one being special needs) 2) I have never been into drinking or drugs. 3) My idea of a good Friday night has always been putting on comfy PJs and cuddling up with a great book (what a dork). 4) I dropped out of college in my Junior year and went back to get m Associate's Degree after the birth of my son. 5) I only went out with my DH on our first date because I had nothing better to do!!!!:nervous 6) I am the only one that colors in my son's Coloring Books! 7) In my mind, I'm an average sized person. 8) I'm a obsessive coupon clipper. I hang my receipts on my fridge to show everyone how much money I've saved! 9) I struggled for many years with depression but have gotten it under wraps with meds (which adds to my weight gain)! This thread was a great idea!
