  1. Great advice! I never looked at it that way!! I am doing a lil better. Found sugar free popsicles and it helped alot.
  2. I had a IVC filter put in to prevent blood clots. It was recommended by my dr. Wasnt exactly a walk in the park. But I'm one step closer to my final destination. Losers bench....I'll be anxiously awaiting to post I did it.
  3. Molinas requirements are 3 comorbidities and a bmi of 30+ or a bmi over 50 and comorbidities no longer matter. You have to do 6 mo program. That consists of: 1. Classes (about 6-9 classes) 2. Psych eval 3. Nutritional appts (2) 4. Meet excersize coach and get measurements. 5. 6 mos of weigh ins 6. Submit to insurance and they have (by law...2 weeks.) I hope this helps. I had molina and got approved. Surgery is Tues. Let me know if u have any questions.
  4. Christy....ty for posting ur concern. If you research this....this is VERY RARE. This sounds like negligence at its finest. I would not change my mind based on someone elses dr not being competent. Just be sure to thoroughly check out ur surgeon and his policies for his surgeries. I know my personal dr doesnt let us out less than 72 hrs after surgery. I will be a lil longer I'm sure due to open Rouxny. I hope this helps. God bless. Misty.
  5. So I remember from my hernia repair and being cut 11" down the front....the Dr used a belly band. (Tight fitting huge ace wrap) I just spoke to my drs assistant and she said u can request it or dont have to have it. Did u have one and if so was it helpful or made it worse?? I am THINKING I wanna use one again. It was very helpful last time I was cut like this. (Oh yeah, my Rny is going to be open and 2 hernia repairs.
  6. Had my filter placed today....now on to the surgery room Tues!! I am so super excited I cant stand myself. Filter, just for the record.....painful!!!
  7. Love it!!! Cant wait for begin our journey!!!
  8. So glad she is doing well. Give her our love and prayers.
  9. Oh Ginger...lol.... I know now who to "remind" to wear it...hahahahha....just kiddin. I love mine cause its so good at making me accountable. now I have a fit bit buddy and someone to talk to about gastric....it doesnt get any better than this.
  10. So glad it went so well. Mine is tues! Im having my filter for blood clot prevention tomorrow at 6 am! Seems to be so far away yet so close. I wish I could just sleep til its time to go! Lol lol
  11. If u cant.... im NOT! I was doing ok til they called to get my final instructions and reminded me that there was a slight chance of death!?! Wth is wrong with these goons!!
  12. Congrats on surgery! Eat a bite for.me! Im dying on this liquid crap!
  13. Very well said! I just thought it was worth mentioning that the body only absorbs 30grams per meal bcuz there are shake mixes I found that are 62 grams of protein but its over kill and a waste when u cant absorb it all. Thats more for body builders that have been doing it a while. Have a good day.....god bless.
  14. So I have really cracked down on myself. I purchsed a fitbit one and keep adding challeges for myself. If I log 2 miles this week walking daily I wanna see 2.5mi daily the next week. Am I crazy? I also bought a body core media first but didnt care for it. I dont like having something strapped to my arm constantly. Fit bit straps to my bra and I dont even feel it.
  15. So glad I read this! I am battling head hunger right now and not gonna lie...its a b*t*h!! I have had moments of weakness...I have chew up and spit out chicken as my dr has me on a full liquid clear diet....but no sf Jello no sf popsicles....nothing. ridiculously insane! Im feelin like I could cave! Wth....10days of this!?!? Im only on day 4?@#/^& im so screwed.
  16. Mine is 7/15!!! In pullin for ya! Keep strong. We got this!
  17. Grandma, how was surgery? Are you doing ok?
  18. I am so struggling with this liquid diet. I chewed and spit a bite of chicken. Horrid I know. But I am really questioning if I am even strong enuff to do this or is this a sign of my weakness again? I cant even stay strong thru the liquid phase? Really? Who does that? Ugh. Depression is so not even the word.
  19. So day 4 wasnt easy. I actually chewed up a bite of chicken and spit it out just to have a "taste" of it. Thats horrible. Tomorrow is day 5 and Thursday I am having a filter placed to prevent blood clots. So as bad as this is gonna make me look.... I am honestly addicted to food. I have to have something in my body or I feel I am gonna rip someone's face off. Please dont judge....I know I screwed up! Lol I'm beating myself up constantly for it. Its even made me question if I can really even be successful. depressed is being mild.
  20. I did have comorbities. But.....I also had a bmi of 36. I think its anything over 40 they cover. I had to have a list of my morbidities and add to my bmi cause it wasnt high enuff.....but I also have 3 lung diseases and require alot of steroids. Dont sweat molina..... pqm is really good about getting it all approved. She would tell u if she couldnt do it
  21. I have to be in the hosp from tues - fri maybe longer. I am having open rou ny. They are fixing 2 hernias and doing my bypass. So happy for this to finally be happening. Ty for the support! Need all I can get. I will continue to follow u in ur journey.
  22. Ty so much! If u have any questions.....hit me up. I have learned so much with dr custars team. Theyre brilliant.
  23. I started my process 1/13/14. I had Molina. They made me do 6 mo program. Caresource is 9 mos. So check with the number for client services on the back of ur card for their requirements. And a tip I had to find on my own....open enrollment is coming up for insurance!! I changed mine to better suite surgery. Even tho it took 6 mos...it has been a journey. It is a great program with lots of info coming ur way. (Reason for suggesting the binder) I got tons of handouts....that I still refer back to. I am so excited to be in the home stretch now....headed to the losers bench in a matter of a week!!! so excited!!! Please let me know if I can help with ur journey in the future.....its great to have info and a helping hand along the way!!!
  24. Crystal light and a protein shake.....stupid liquid diet. Day 4.... major head ache and starved.
