Hi I am a 48 year old female that has had weight problems since my early 20's. It's ironic that everyone was jealous of me before that because I was so thin. Anyway, my weight has gradually increased over the past 20 years to an all time high around 240. I used to be 5'7.5" but I've shrunk to 5'6' somehow. I will be having my gastric bypass sometime in January. I should find the date out next week. I chose the Roux En Y because I have had a Nissen Fundoplication in the past and I fear I will not be able to control my "uncontrollable" urges for Carbs. My sugar is a see-saw. It goes up and down. My main motivation for surgery is pain in my lower legs. I have a right knee injury and a left foot/ankle injury, along with all over aching. I may need to have some work done to those areas but would rather wait till I have less weight on me. Maybe it will improve with that alone or will not need as much intervention. Another reason I chose the Roux En Y is that I have trouble exercising due to the leg pain and I sweat profusely for some reason. (Not exactly sure why). I hope I"m not making a mistake in having this surgery but I will never know if I don't move forward. I really want to enjoy life again and alleviate the pain in my feet and legs. I'm sure more will be revealed but that is it for the moment.
