Anyone Else Disgusted By The Cretins Who Invoke "god" To Explain Anything They Want?
Well, I consider myself a secular humanist and i dont buy into the whole 'god' thing either. HOWEVER, who the hell are you to go around and call people retarded? Dont you have any f*cking manners? You are demonstrating that you are, in fact, the one with minimal brain activity with a post like that.

Filled 6 Times And Still Not Losing
Hang in there, you are still losing over a pound a week and that is a good amount of weight. Some poeple loose faster than others but the important thing is that you are losing. Keep working at it!

Nosy family members + my dating life = mortification
Well, the whole nosy parent thing aside, I think I would be more upset if I was told I was 'irrational' for feeling that way. It implies my feelings are not valid and that is just not cool. If your mom could just say 'I am sorry you feel that way, we meant no harm' maybe you would feel different? I am really glad they guy is not weirded out, sounds like a keeper.

Is spaghetti considered a mushy food?
I have overcooked pasta on my list of mushies with a notation to run it through a blender if I need to.

Full??????
I have not had my first fill yet but I notice that I fill up pretty quickly these days. I did eat too much the other day and I felt slightly ill and uncomfortable. I try to remember what I felt like right beofre I got to that stage and stop eating then. Right now I can eat about 1 cup to 1.5 cups a food at a time and I eat twice a day. I eat off my kids kiddie plates to keep the portions under control. That really helps.

How few calories are you taking in post-op?
Now that I am on mushies I am getting 800-1000 calories, max.

Dr. Will not let me drive!!!
I meant to add, you are an adult. If you are done with the pain meds and are feeling 100% with no complications, I can imagine a reason you should not drive.
-
Dr. Will not let me drive!!!
I was told not to drive for 24 hours. That was it. I chose not to drive because of the pain meds, though but I was done with those in 6 days

Only 8 Pounds in first 2 months... :(
Did you have a pre-op diet? I lost a lot just from that. Also, 8 pounds in two months is a good amount of weight, at least in my opinion. That is a pound a week. Hang in there.

Do You? You know use that word!
I think there is a line people cross when the way they keep up their belongings brings down the property value of their neighbors.

Do You? You know use that word!
First of all, it is never nice to call people names whether it be "the 'N'" word or otherwise. That being said, I am an equal opportunity 'hater'. I dont like certain behaviors. I tend to get really bent out of shape when I see people not picking up their yards annd keeping their things tidy. I hate when I see kids NOT in their carseats and not being minded. I coul dgo on but I think you know what I mean. I dont care what race, religion, or socio-economic bracket you belong to, if you are acting like an idiot you are going to get attitude from me. I check myself before making assumptions about race, gender, sexual orientation and the like. I prefer to let peoples actions speak for them.

16 days post -op
Things seem to be going well. I am on mushy foods and I get to start hard foods on wednesday. I am tracking my food intake and am eating about 800-1000 calories a day. I eat when I am hungry I am just not all that hungry. I have enough energy, too. I eat slow and chew well, like I am supposed to. Is it possible I am still swollen inside and feel some restriction? My first fill is on the 30th and I am almost certain I did not get a fill when the band was put on. I just cant imagine that I can eat a quarter what I used to and not be hungry. This is weird.

Loving the mushies!
I had a soft scrambled egg today and i almost fell to the floor and wept with joy. Between the pre-op and the post-op it has been about a month since I ate much of anything. I was full from 1 egg for about 4 hours. Go figure. Breakfast used to a huge bowl of cereal and toast. It was so nice to just TASTE something that I had to chew.

Very well said. Thank you for this post.

OMFG The itch! The itch!
outstanding. I am going for the benadryl first. If that fails, the cream. The incisions are healed over nicely.

Keeping it a secret?
I *thought* that when I told my mother and told her that this was very private and that I did not want anyone else to know in the family until I was ready to tell them, that she would actually keep her damn mouth shut. Nope. My whole farking family knows now. I am so peeved.

Who know, who doesn't, and why???
I told my dh, and two family members. I also told my closest friends who have all been wonderful except for one (who has her own issues). I am going to be 34 this year and my kids are past the baby stage with one of them starting full time pre school this year. I feel that I have been giving so much of myself the last 5 years and putting my needs on the backburning while I raise my kids. Well, they don't need me as much as they used to and so now it is time for me to get back a little bit of myself. I need to have an identity that goes beyond *mom* and *wife*. I am looking at this year with optimism and am really looking forward to moving forward, kwim?

Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
I answered no only because I have not been overweight for too many years and I dont have that experience that other people do. The poll was for if *I* have ever been discriminated against. If it had been my opinion if it existed my answer would be yes.

Denied!!! :'(
I was approved because I had a bmi of just barely over 40. I knew this in advance and knew I was a little under that weight so I had a month to 'prepare' for my weight-in. If my bmi was 35-39 I would have had to have two comorbidities.

I'm on the BAND wagon!!

I'm back...and banded
Wow! I am sure that it was not a great time but that is a great story. I would have paid to see the nurse's face when she saw the radioactive pee!! LMAO

Dr just recommended Bypass
I was swayed by the time it takes to recover. Lapband was a faster recovery. Also, I have no problem playing my part with the band. I dont have an issue staying away from junk food I just have an issue with appetite. I felt i could be successful with the band.

I am still a little in shock
I am ok with it slowing down. As long as it does not go in reverse, I am good. Oh, and I never thought I would look forward to sugar free pudding as much as I am. Seriously.
