    Realistic calories per day?

Thanks for all of the responses. I am feeling much better about the fact that I am hungry every few hours and can intake so many calories (or what seems like a lot). I do think the exercise is what is causing it. Thanks all!

    Realistic calories per day?

Thx! I try to keep it to 1/2 a cup max but it is hard some days. Thx for the response!
  3. Am 7 months and about 10 days out and have lost 101 lbs. I have 48 more lbs to go to my goal weight of 135 and I'm fine with my loss and speed cause my doc said that it takes 18 months for sleevers to lose all the weight since 2-3 lbs is the avg weekly loss. However, I am scared I am eating too much! I work out constantly (1-3 times a day) and am hungry every two hours! I average about 1200 calories a day although I burn off almost all of it with exercise. I eat proteins and really healthy although I do love my quest bars almost daily. Am I over eating and getting back into bad habits? I'm so paranoid!! Need some input because I've even hit 1500 or 1600 calories at least three times since surgery!

    2 Months--Calories?

I am 7 weeks out and find it hard to stay full but Im eating between 700 and 800 calories. A few times I have gone over but not many. I am down 37.5 lbs and pretty happy with that but darn! I see you are 2 months out and down 46 lbs! That's awesome!!! I probably need to exercise more. I will say I am pretty good at getting my Protein each and every day. I hit 60 minimum but more than likely over 80 or 90. I eat at least one Protein Bar daily to get 20 in and then eat a lot of grilled chicken to get more. Ask your nut about the protein bar and see if you can have that to get in more protein. They are high calorie but they give me LOTS of energy, have low sugar and the carbs aren't too bad.
  5. You look wonderful and I love reading and seeing this! I am 7 weeks out (minus 2 days) and I am just hoping I can have as much loss as you do! I will say, I don't remember having this much energy even in my 20's!!! I am loving it!!! Again, you look AWESOME and I bet you feel it too!
  6. I am so glad you posted this b/c I have been wondering the same thing! I am going to my Surgeon for my 8 week f/u next week and will ask him but so far I know this is what I have been doing. 1. First week post op: 800-1000 calories. I was on liquids only and the Boost I was drinking 4 x a day was 220 calories a pop. That plus Jello and popsicles almost got me to 1000. 2. pureed foods: Lucky to get to 600-700 calories. Also wasn't able to get to the 80+ Protein that I needed. 3. Solid foods: This is what I'm not sure about. My NUT's documentation says around 1000 calories and eating 4-6 times a day but I see so many saying they are only eating 600-800. I try to stay under 800 but I get soooooooooooooooooooo hungry at night around 8 pm. I used to go to sleep around that time but now I can't sleep til midnight so I get so hungry. My NUT and surgeon say the 6 small meals ARE the right thing to do at least initially b/c you keep your metabolism going consistently. I guess it's just different schools of thought. I am interested to see what others reply to about caloric intake at each stage. I am 7 weeks out and I have lost 37.5 lbs I think. 10 of those the 2 weeks prior to surgery. I am happy with EVERYTHING that has happened but I do want to try to figure out those night time urgest and how to curb them or if I am just not eating enough. :-)
  7. I went through the same thing with my husband. He was VERY against me doing this and it was hard. I found this website to be VERY helpful and spent more and more time pre and post surgery around those in my family and my friends that DID support me. Thankfully, he now sees the light and is being more and more supportive every day! Hang in there, it will get better! And if it doesn't, sometimes you have to wonder if those are poeple you need in your life. If you can't cut them out, cut back on the time with them until they see the light!

    pre-op diet

I started my pre op 2 weeks prior to the surgery. If you dont' get anything at the class post back on this forum and we can all pitch in to help but I bet you won't need it.
  9. Definitely head hunger. I am 5 weeks and 1 day post op and I am that person that always FEELS hungry even when I am not. I have to plan ahead what I will eat for the day on the day prior and I find that knowing what and when I am going to eat curbs the head hunger a bit. Also, I seem to want to eat every 2 hours or so and I was hoping that would subside and I could get to just 3-4 meals each day. That will happen, right?
  10. Where do I get Isopure Zero Carb? At GNC? Is it really expensive? I found some online but they only had 15 grams of Protein in it. The bottles were 8 ounces. How large is the bottle that has 40 grams?

    Are you COLD?

I am always cold too! I had surgery on 12/9 and I kept thinking I was having fever at first b/c I am like you guys, I used to break out a sweat just sitting there! I can't decide if I like being cold better or not???
  12. I can say that the gas pains were the only real source of frustrating pain I have had with this entire process and I am 9 days post op today. However, it lasted total about 4 days. Two days of nonstop gas pains and two days of intermittent and all good now! I went from someone having a minimum of two BM's a day to having one every three days. VERY strange for me but not painful really. The biggest post op frustration now is not being able to sleep on my stomach. Weird how much it miss it!
  13. Don't be defeated AKDawn! I'm no vet for sure but I have read over this forum and an early stall is not all that rare!keep it up! I know that is easier said than one but it will work!
  14. I told my mother I was a bit concerned bc today is post op day 8 and I'm only down 8 lbs since surgery. She looked horrified at me (she's a nutritionist) and said, " you can't lose even 5 lbs a week for a year my darling. That would be 260 lbs and you only weigh a few more than that!" Then I realized she was right and we are all different, all on our journey and will all lose differently. We will ALL stall, probably twice at minimum and we just need to stay the course and fight the fight! That's why I love, love, love this forum! It inspires AND educates me daily!
  15. I'm from Ridgeland and just saw this thread and thought it would be neat to chat with a bunch of other MS and maybe even tri county area folks! I had my surgery with Dr. Kenneth Vick on Monday, 12/9/13! I am doing great but sooooooooooooooooo ready for the puréed stage!! I work at UMC in Flowood,MS at our Grants Ferry clinic. Love to hear from some of you!! Elizabeth Beasley
