  1. Make an appointment to see your doc early. This helped to get me back on track. Good luck!
  2. More about stalls from the book. check this out. i used to think this way. "i find that if a patient thought before surgery that she could eat the same thing after surgery, but just less of it, and has not changed her food choices, then she is probably struggling with her weight loss. With that way of thinking, i can almost guarantee that they have stopped losing weight and are still overweight or have started regaining their weight."
  3. Yes, my protein goal (as an average American female) is 45 gms per day. to paraphrase his book- the push for high protein diets is based on malabsorption that occurs with the bypass and duodenal switch. (pg 50).
  4. so, i reading Dr. Vuongs book. he recommends the following for Protein sources: veggies- like broccoli beans- including lentils soy- tofu, edemame, soy milk whole grains- like couscous, bulgur, and quinoa Nuts fish- preferably fresh, wild caught and then sparingly: chicken, turkey meat dairy- occasional good quality cheeses, never milk prepackaged protein supplements So there are some ideas for me.
  5. This is a new perspective for me as well. ill let yall know how it goes.
  6. Well, the big salad can have meat in it. and also he recommended lots of edemame, soy, tofu. At this point he just wants me to try to get in protein from fresh foods. protein has always been hard for me to get enough of as it is.
  7. I am 8 months post op and have been at a stall for 2 months. So, i finally made an appointment to see the bariatric surgeon to find out what is going on. I saw him today. It was very interesting. Thought I'd share. He basically told me that the sleeve is working just fine, but my diet needs work. He told me that most of what I was taught about the diet is wrong. His recommendations FOR ME are: Protein first, but get all protein from fresh sources no Protein shakes NO DAIRY NO ALCOHOL No beef Jerky no cheese sticks only really "good" quality cheeses in limited amounts only a bariatric Multivitamin (no other supplements needed) first thing in AM- a big glass of Water daily breakfast- coffee and a piece of fresh fruit lunch- a great big salad dinner anything fresh and lots of fish. My exercise regimen is ok Im gonna start going to weekly educational/support meetings with weekly weigh ins. I got a copy of his new book and so far it is really good. it is available on Amazon. "Ultimate gastric sleeve success: a practical patient guide to help maximize your weight loss results" by Dr. Duc C. Vuong" ...feeling hopeful
  8. Yes, stalls are very frustrating. But i have found that during times when the scale isnt moving, the inches are coming off. So please, do measurements once a month and remember to take those pics
  9. Atkins will send you 2 free protein bars when you join on their website
  10. Princess, How are things going reducing any hair loss? thought I'd check in
  11. Get a second opinion, if you still want to be sleeved.
  12. hey toya good to hear from you. remind me of where you are from and where you are in the process. ive been doing good. weight loss is slow-55 lbs. but ive gone from a 22 to a 12/14. down 26 1/2 inches. feeling great. Been hanging out with Evolving about once a week. it has been so great. Write back soon
  13. Seems like the chat room is in need of a little positive PR today, so i thought i'd bump this post and see what happens.
  14. I was hungry at 3 weeks out also (I still get hungry at 7 months out). I think it is perfectly normal. An acid reducer really does help(I take prilosec). I think alot of us had a "3 week stall. i think thats normal too. Dont fret, my dear. It gets better really fast!
  15. OH! i think the dots relate to how many posts you have made in various topics. the more dots, the more posts. so post away and "level up" lol
  16. For me, the chat room is another social network. i get to socialize with other people who have had, or will be having VSG. Unlike posting in the forums (which i do), i can get an instant response and support when i need it. its also fun to hang out there and answer other peoples questions. Yes, its often off topic of VSG. Yes, the language and topics are sometimes questionable. But it is still a relatively safe place to get support and hang out with some fun people- night or day. Dont knock it unless youve tried it
  17. Is it possible to get "kicked out" for chat room behavior? Just curious.
  18. Maybe its time for a new suit? mine is really cute and has a built in bra.
  19. I'm at 7 months post op and am feeling very complacent (contented to a fault; self- satisfied , and unconcerned) I have been at a stall for a month now. No real loss or gain. I have lost a difficult 55 lbs, and am currently at 189 lbs. But I have gone down from a 22 to a 14, lost lots of inches and have had too many NSV's to count. I am feeling so good physically, and feel like I look "normal". I get lots of positive feedback about my weight loss. I'm happy with the sleeve. My problem is that now that I'm feeling so good and looking better, I just cant stay motivated to keep up with the diet and exercise. I want to reach goal, but life's not so bad right here either... Is this a phase I'm going thru? Another growth experience? Anybody else feel this way?
  20. Listen to the teenager who posted above.
  21. Maybe a community church? my dad runs a "clothes closet" at his church. anyone is welcome and its all free.
  22. Hi stef! Who else is still around?
