JeanaLuvsKisses got a reaction from boogie2dope in Have you ever been chastised by another doctor for having weight loss surgery?
Last April I ended up in the ER with another bacterial infection (cellulitis) in my leg, due to diabetes. The ER doctor wanted to admit me but I explained I wanted to try strong oral antibiotics because I was preparing to have wls and I could not miss my nutrition and wl classes. He proceeded with a 30 minute lecture on why I should not have the surgery. He shamed me because of my weight and said i just needed to follow the vegan diet. Needless to say he could not talk me out of it I am now six months post op and I am off insulin and my oral diabetic meds have been cut in half. My PCP thinks it won't be long til I will be off diabetic meds all together. The swelling in my legs had gone down and my skin has never looked better. As far as NSAIDS go . . . My surgeon also said not to take them. Before surgery I was taking 800 mg every night because my back and hips hurt so much from carrying all the extra weight. Since losing 110 lbs so far I have not had any back or hip pain. My arse hurts but that's because I no longer have my own extra padded seat cushion! LOL

My sister has ways been thin while I have always been fat. Going clothes shopping together meant I would help her pick out clothes for her to try on and give her the thumbs up or thumbs down. I always shopped on lone catalogs or specialty stores like Catherine's yesterday we popped into Ross where she picked up few tops, a skirt and a pair of jeans. I picked up three tops, two shrugs, a skirt and two dresses while she gave me the thumbs up. We had so much fun shopping together and it was the first time we both bought something from the same store since we were teens and mom bought us school clothes.

There is nothing "easy" about wls. They will realize that when they have wls and will have to "eat their words" on the days they cannot tolerate food.

My name is Jeana (pronounced Gina) and Kisses is my Jack Russell Terrier mix. My son got her for me when he went away to college to keep me from suffering with the empty nest syndrome. She definitely is my "baby girl"!

Hi all I had my sleeve done on 2/12/14 and as of today (7/16/14) I'm down 82 LBS, what a life changing thing to do FOR yourself ! I do sometimes get sad that I can't eat as much as I want to ( my eyes are bigger then my stomach) but this is the way it should be,I went from a size 42 jeans to 32 and a s/m shirt now love to shop for new jeans and tee shirts I started out at 271LBS, and now I'm at 189LBS,and I'm 5'6" tall, when at work For lunch I will have a pice of baked chicken that I get from the already prepared self serve section in one of the supper markets I'm a h.v.a.c / plumber so I'm always on the go and it works out good for me plus the money I save is unreal (lol) I do jog NOW I never did before but I'm up to like 3 miles like 3-4 times a week I do this fitness trail in one of the parks by where I live "holmdel park" this trail had 32 work out stations along the way, to work out your whole body , and it makes me feel great! Ok thanks for the platform to tell my wonderful time I'm having with my weight loss i would answer any questions to the best of my ability if you wanted to chat ? Thanks Johnny

I am three years out. A few months ago, I figured out I was drinking too much.. and had been doing so for almost a year. It started about 2 years out... It was just wine but it got to be just about every night and several glasses. When I stopped I had physical withdrawal symptoms. That was scary to me. Now I am still sober, but I know that there is an issue with my mind wanting to go back to food addiction, drink or do something. I even decided I have collected too many clothes from thrift stores and such and I am working to organize and declutter. I am not actively engaged in any addiction (that I know of). I have therapy once a week, but I have to admit I get nervous and feel edgy. It is not easy. On the other hand, with drinking and being 2 years post op, I gradually regained 15 pounds from my lowest point. I am happy since i stopped drinking, I not only got rid of those calories and I pay better attention to my food. I have lost 3 pounds of my regain.

I had my surgery July 2, 2013. I'm down 167 lbs. Pretty good considering most of the past year was spent sitting on my arse due to reconstructive foot surgery. ????

I picked up two pairs of jeans for $4.99 each at. Ross. My son is 27 years old and had never seen me in pants. I always wore dresses and skirts because I was heavy. I love getting compliments from family and friends but nothing compares to hearing my husband tell me how beautiful I look each day!

Never had a problem until Today. I ate steamed artichoke. I dumped so bad, vomited and vomited then had dry heaves. It was not a good day.

No such thing as an ignorant question. We are all learning here.
When I say I vomited it wasn't the actual food (artichoke) it was foam. It just kept coming up. Since having the bypass I have not convulsed or thrown up actual food.

I have Type 2 Diabetes and my Doctor was really happy with my last A1c. She changed my medication to oral so I no longer have to take insulin.
When I tested my blood sugar this morning it was 41. I have been battling low blood sugar all day. I got really scared when it went as low as 31 and I couldn't see very well. This is the second time this has happened. I think I need to get back to my doctor. Maybe it's time I can get off all meds. Here's hoping!

Today I was able to weed and haul 25lbs of compost to my garden several times. Getting ready to plant my Tomato seedlings. It's very good therapy to take my mind off eating or what I can't eat anymore and put my mind on eating for health.
