I like to have fun, but honestly, I think you should have your thyroid checked. At least it would help you eliminate issues from the start. Plus, I have read before that we eat 3 meals a day to keep our metabolism revved up and for fat burn. It will be a necessity after the surgery so you don't go back in the hospital for something more serious.

Now this is another issue I'm experiencing...there's some foods I want to get in before I can no longer touch them..but I'm only allowing a spoonfull or handfull..this ends for me after thanksgiving...then I have 3 months to focus completely on the necessary changes!! And yes, slim fast worked great for me, I lost 30lbs in 8wks. Good idea...lol. It would be nice to be approved then have to make all these adjustments...I'm just saying I will do whatever I need to in order to maintain my sleeve but geesh, give it to me first...LOL!!!

Girl, I was told that they want me to lose 5 lbs before surgery. So what did I do? I have been food honeymooning (eating everything I can find that I will miss) instead and now I have to lose 7 lbs. At this rate, if I don't get a date, I'm gonna need to lose 10 - 15 lbs. I asked her about that and she said everyone does it. People are saying goodbye to the foods they like most. Like today, since I had a rough day at work, I want to go to my favorite place Taco Bell and chow down on an Extra Grilled Stuffed Burrito. I'm an emotional eater. I know this. This will be my challenge when I have the surgery for sure. So with that being said, do you follow your doctors rules by eating 3 meals per day and quit smoking or do you do what you do to make it to surgery?
I feel that I could easily do a liquid slim fast diet and drink a lot of Water and lose the 5lb that they want but I'm not willing to do that until I get approval from insurance or meet with the doctor for a date. Am I wrong by saying this? Maybe, but I know my body best.
    Good Luck with your decision!

I actually took my husband with me to the info session and although I knew I wanted the sleeve, I wanted him to see and hear the information about all surgeries. He was the one that told me that if it were him he would go with the sleeve and his reasoning is because the band has ongoing procedures and it is something foreign in the body that could cause problems, the RNY is cutting in two areas and you're left with the stomach just staying there, plus all the dumping, etc., but the sleeve seemed to him to be a better option.
I would have chose the sleeve without his input however.

Hello and thanks for starting this thread! I meet with my NUT (5th out of 6 required visits) & Surgeon in 2 weeks and hope to get a surgery date in Dec...(I work at a college and most students leave after finals). At any rate, my insurance required 6 NUT visits and they've gone exceptionally well. Had my psych eval early in the game...now I just wait to meet & discuss surgery with him..Oct 22nd. Was told to plan on a 3 hour visit that day, not sure why it would be that long so if you have any idea and wish to share that would be awesome!
I am currently 250, about 5'5" and just turned 50!! (WOW, that seems weird). Having Dr. White from Toledo Hospital.
    Cheers!

Look, everyone says it is a tool and tools fix things not people. People are intricate which requires mental capacity to achieve goals. I am saying this because I know me and I know that there will be some struggle. I am hoping that my smaller pouch will keep my overeater within in check, but I also hope that I will make smarter choices since I can only eat smaller amounts. I have been told by my nutritionist and by my psychologist that I can make a visit with them when things get tough. It's a doctor's visit that's worth the co-pay. Good luck to you on your journey!

BladeFox got a reaction from gourmetone in What Can I Take For My Hair Loss?
I have had hair fallout in the past and experiencing it during peri-menopause. At first, I cried, then I tried a weave and cried because of weaving it, then I tooke the weave out and tried covering up the back with my own long hair but felt self-conscious. So I then decided to go natural, no chemicals and a lot of natural oils, but my hair still didn't like it and continued to break off in the back. So I cried for the last time and found a short hair style and got it CHOPPED OFF! Because my menopause causes the back of my head to sweat the style didn't last and it curled up naturally.
Today, I have a short cut with a keratin. I sleep on a satin pillowcase and I use Argan Oil and Coconut Oil. I am happy with my style and I want to go even shorter. I think it looks sassy~sharp. I don't know when I will ever go back to long hair because I love not needing to do much to it. I also have some clip-on's that when I want to rock a longer look, I can and clip it out when I'm done.
    Consider it a new YOU

It's common when your losing weight! I live in Minnesota, and the below freezing temps have arrived. But I like having layers on..hence the reason I live up here.
I did read few days ago that your body balances out eventually, but not for several months.

I know this sounds crazy, but it works wonders. Have you heard of the Oil Cleansing Method?
    http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/
It's basically cleansing your face with oil - it removes all dirt and makeup, gets the gunk out of your pores, and leaves you nice and moisturized. It's good for all skin types, including acne prone or oily skin.
