I had my surgery on 10/1. I get dizzy on and off throughout the day still but is usually when I stand up or if I'm doing an active walk, so I think mine is BP related. When I check my BS mine is usually 109. I am still not eating very much (maybe 4 oz a day of cottage cheese or pureed tuna or mashed potatoes) and drinking is hard for me too. I can drink about 40 oz if I dont eat at all really and forget my Proteins... I get sick as a dog with the fake ones. I am still finding balance. I had a kidney infection after that wouldn't clear and had to get IV medicine for it and my pulse is averaging at about 40-50 since surgery so I'm on a heart monitor. My doctors are great and staying on top of my health and trying to figure out what is going on.
Good luck to you. I hope it resolves for you soon!

I'm 4 months out and get dizzy at times still. When it happens, for me it is usually because I have not had enough to drink. After I get in another say 24 ounces, the dizziness goes away. I also have REALLY low BP, not that I am complaining but I think this has something to do with it too. I have appt in December with DR and will ask again about dizziness. Like I said once I drink some more Water, it goes away. Good luck checking with your DR.

Both my husband and I had that happen a lot initially. We couldn't even stand up out of our chairs without getting dizzy. And then it stopped, I'd say around the 6 week mark. I really thnk it's the very low calories initially and until our bodies get used to it, they want to pass out from time to time

Even though you are not on foods yet defiantly make sure you have taken in as much liq as you can before you chew your Vit. I did same thing after surg and girl know your pain! But once I filled my little pouch with warm broth I was able to take my Vit with no problem. Also, I was on the bariatric vit's which where about the size of a nickel (chewable) and my new pouch just didn't like them, once I switched to the flinstone vit's , I was just fine. So you may need to try different vit's, everyone is different as well as our little pouches! Just need to find that certain one that works for you. LOL I'm stuck with a huge bottle of Bariatric orange flavored chewable vitamins that I paid $30.00 for and my new belly doesn't like them... oh well my kids em! lol.

I confess I spend too much time VST when I should be doing other things.

Hey all! I just wanted to give you a quick update on how I'm doing. I'm doing so much better! My surg put me on Prilosec 40 twice a day and Protonix twice a day. it took a while but that did the trick. I'm doing better with eating and holding most everything down. I went for my first walk today and had some dizziness which I'm wondering if it's my potassium. calling doc tomorrow about that. thank you all so much!!!!! I truly don't know what I would have done without you!!! God Bless!

Hello all! Well I got 2 bags of Fluid, a shot if Thiamin, and 2 piggy backs of nausea meds. I do feel so much better. When I arrived there my BP was 131/110!!! even at my highest weight I have never ran that high, however; I know that was due to the dehydration. After 2 hours BP dropped to 139/97 then at 4 hours back to normal 127/74. My Dr doesn't want to stretch my throat at this time just yet, so he went ahead and sent me home. He did switch me to suppositories and 2 other meds for my stomach. So I'm hoping the next 24 hours will be uneventful. I am still trying to be optimistic and positive! Getting over this bump in the road will be a blessing! Thank you my VSG family! I don't know what I would do without you!!!! God Bless each one of you!!!!!

Hi everyone! Wanted to update you. I am being admitted today for dehydration and a possible upper GI to have my throat stretched. This morning I was so dizzy I was running into walls. My kids sure thought it was funny, but I knew otherwise. I can't keep hardly anything down. I am really trying to stay optimistic. I know in the long run this will be so worth it. I just wanna get over these hurdles. I don't want people reading this and changing their minds about surgery because I know the end result will be added years to my life. However; 3 weeks of vomiting and dying of thirst, well,,, just plain sucks. I will keep everyone posted. I honestly don't know what I would do without my VSG family. Huggs to all!

I am right with you... Total regret here... Living hell since day one.. Just want to feel good/normal. It's hard to be positive when you never feel well. 3 months out and I thought I would be feeling better, physically/mentally and emotionally. Just want my life back.

I saw a quote in my daughter's school this weekend: "The kindest word in all the world is the unkind word, unsaid". That being said, I am tired too, PMSing, and in another damned three week stall so I may be slightly iritable. Honesty and kindness are not always mutually exclusive; they just don't always fit together neatly. I totally agree with you Laura (as I often do). To each their own. And certainly, anyone trying to profit by lying or omission is just plain wrong. I have no desire to argue with anyone - just to inform people that may not intend to be offensive that it is. If the intent is to offend or people don't care - they should feel free to offend away. If the intent is not to offend or they do care - perhaps they may want to rethink the language used. I have no idea why this thing is underlining everything I say but I can't make it stop!!!

I told my immediate supervisor at the time that I was having hernia surgery (I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia pre-op). The reason I did not say VSG is because I knew he would blab and he did. My point is I know my workplace as you know yours. Say whatever makes you comfortable and leave it at that.

During my psych evaluation, the doc recommended not to tell anyone. He had also had WLS, so I found it interesting to hear his perspective. In the end, I agreed with him and decided it wasn't anyone's business to hear the details of my surgery unless I wanted to share for my own reasons. So for anyone who asks about my weight loss (as it is becoming more obvious), I say I've been on a strict high-protein diet since June and it's finally paying off (completely true), and if anyone wonders if I had surgery (I anticipate someone will ask at some point), I will say I was solving some "female issues" (technically true! LOL). It's up to you how much you tell, but for me I didn't want to feel under the microscope with how/what I was eating or how fast I losing weight. Good luck to you, this is a delicate topic and people can be amazingly rude!

I think you could tell people, if they are rude enough to ask about your surgery - that it is a personal matter. If they ask about how you are losing weight, "portion control" is an answer that is truthful but still protects your privacy. Really, you don't owe them an explanation. But if someone notices you are eating soft food or only a small amount you could say you are still recovering from your surgery.
Glad you are doing well! Good luck with the work colleagues.
