I am scheduled for sleeve to bypass conversion on October 26. I have to be on all liquids starting tomorrow. I am so ready to have this done that I don't even care about the all liquid diet. I hope all goes well for you!

Hello all! I want to share for those of you on the fence, waiting for your approvals and those that are just plain scared. Don't psyche yourselves up so much that you're worked up into a frenzy of anxiety. It's a waste of time.
Also, don't be like me who three years ago while I was on here I kept reading this one girls total horror story and she was relentless with her writings and postings to the point that I stopped my surgery and regret that till this day. Glad that that girl was deleted and so were all her postings. Some may have complications but it's a very small minuscule amount. But three years later I was sick Diabetic on insulin w fibromyalgia and sleep apnea, anxiety and depression. So, I shouldn't have waited so long out of fear. Nonsense is what that was.
Don't let anyone steer you away from a life saving and life changing surgery. Day one and two after surgery was a breeze for me and I felt very zero pain and was able to walk and get up same day of surgery. I was drinking with no problem. And making my rounds on the unit floor. All to prevent any blood clots or embolism. Walking worked. I even had zero gas pain and zero shoulder pain. My surgeon is amazing and possibly a magician. He even tested the pouch for leaks while I was under so I didn't need the barium or MRI which I am afraid of cause of claustrophobia. He checked and no leaks thank God.
When you get home and anesthesia and pain meds wear off you will feel some discomfort and the pain of OMG what did I do to my poor body? That feeling lasts two days or so. You keep taking your pain meds and follow the rules from your surgery center and days do get much better. One mistake I made was not take my pain Med at night because I felt good and the pain usually sets in mid sleep and wakes you. So do take your pain meds as directed until you're a week out.
Any and all other obstacles you may encounter will get addressed here and by your team. You're never ever alone. Reach out when you feel the need to. Plenty on here are wisdom filled and are veterans.
Do enjoy the journey, the ups, the downs, the scars and all the good too. It's all developing into a new healthier and clear minded you, a beautiful you. A you that has been in the making and the one that needs extra care and extra love. Be kind to yourselves and don't let that negative thinking that got us into emotionally stress eating come back. Arm yourself with the new tools and techniques you learn to live with your new pouch. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Don't have an all or nothing thinking this isn't about that. You kinda gotta roll with the punches and you'll come out like a champ.
Sure I may be crying tomorrow from God knows what but today I'm not and I'm happy, you will be too! Good luck and cheers to the new you!

susanmm50 got a reaction from NolansNana in PREOP...NERVOUS...ANY SUGGESTIONS
Okay.I am really nervous..things are moving fast...Heres the story..I started in Nov of 2013, with the prep for surgery. I did all the visits and finish up in Feb. The insurance change the requirements at the beginning of the year, so it was unknown weather I would have to do more nutritionist visits or if the insurance company would "grandfather" me in under the old requirement. I wait for several months to find out. During the "waiting" period my mother fell, went to the hospital and we found out that she had stage 4 cancer...I was her primary care giver. In May the doctors office called, saying they finally got approval for the surgery...my mother was still in hospital at this time and we had no idea when she was coming home. I explained to them what was going on and they said I had till Aug. to do the surgery. My mother passed a way middle of June. I had her estate to settle and final arrangements to take care of. Now that things are settled I am ready...I think and hope. I talked to the doctors office to find out what needs to be done....if i need to restart the process, I knew I wasn't going to make the Aug deadline for surgery. Imagine my surprise when they told me that I had until Aug 23 for surgery...I can get my gi done in the next week and tentitive scheduled the 21st of Aug...I am nervous about getting this all done, and excited too..but its moving fast...It may be a good thing, it won't give me time to back out...is there any suggestions from anyone that might help keep things moving smoothly? What should I do next? I will be living by myself, any thing i should know there? Anything will help..I'm moving too fast to know what I should be doing next, but I have dreamed of this for so long, I even lost my boyfriend during all of this because he was a non believer in the surgery...

I made the decision about 3 weeks ago to get banded. I have done my research, talked with others and joined here to get more insight on what to except. I work on a medical facility so I knew which doctor I wanted to perform the surgery. The problem has been getting a hold of the office to schedule my first appointment. Today I finally got a hold of them. My first weigh in is the 22nd. When talked to the nurse she figured my bmi and asked what insurance I had, she told my I was a shoe in for the surgery. I am so happy

See that's what I am afraid of. People don't understand I have done the weight watchers lost 90 pounds. I did the pill lost 100. I've cut the calories. If I could keep it off I wouldn't be going what I think extreme. I told my sister cause I live with her and she's seen what I've been through but I don't want anyone else to know

My name is susan and I am seriously thinking of getting banded. I wanted to several years ago but didn't think I was ready. Now I'm ready. I have researched and talked to people that have already been banded so I know the commitment to it. I already know that my insurance will pay for it and have several recommendations on doctors other have used. My question is I like variety in food and I am not sure of the food I can eat after banding. Amy suggestions
