Please stay with it. We all trip up here and there. These are things that I bet all of us have struggled with. One mis - step is not going to make or break the whole deal. Pick yourself up and try again. Don't give up, you can do this! I believe in you! Your doc will not rip up your paperwork for a slip. You're human, just let you doc know and you will be fine.

I am in the same boat, so I started doing everything I did when I was losing: going to the gym, documenting all foods that went into my mouth, making sure I get all my Protein, making sure I take all my supplements, wearing my cpap (yuck) and going to bed at a decent hour. (Edited to add Measuring food too so I don't eat too much, and slowing down--even using a timer sometimes).
Do you need another fill? Or maybe to meet with the nutritionist or doc to get some motivation?
Since you are exercising so well, perhaps you are gaining muscle? Either way, keep it up!!

the icky in your chest could indicate that the food you got stuck got stuck in your esophagus and you are experiencing a little spasm. drink some Water, drink enough Water that you fill your pouch. this should dislodge or make the food go down. and than take it easy for awhile. give your band and stoma a chance to recover. I remember once that I had a pork chop for dinner. I kept sliming and burping after dinner. no pain. all the way until a took my Jacuzzi at around 1 am. the dang piece of pork chop decided while I was in the hot tub to come up. oh what a relief but I was in a compromising position as I wear no clothes in the hot tub. thank goodness no one was around to see me pb on the deck. lol.

Many of us have names for our bands/ports (my band is GingerSnaps) because that beeeetch would quickly snap me into shape if I try to deviate. LoL.
I'm wondering if anyone has a name for the process of getting a fill? (If not, it's time you get one)
    I call mine: "getting baptized"
"Tomorrow I'm leaving early. I'm getting baptized"
"I'm soooo glad I got baptized last week, I've already lost three pounds!"
    GO!

    Hi Junebug,
I just saw your posts after personally messaging you. Very helpful. I did not get a fill at the time of surgery so my first fill came yesterday at 4cc.

Some misconceptions seem to be part of your thinking. First, the band won't stop you from eating 1, 2 or 3 cups of food. You still have a large, regular sized stomach below the band. I can eat more than 1 cup anytime I want. But do I want to, that is the question?
Feeling full is never what we strive to be. Feeling satisfied with less food is the goal. If you eat till you're full, you've eaten too much usually. Not being hungry for 4 hours means you're in the green zone, right where we all want to be. Seems like your doctor is trigger happy with the fills. Rather unusual because usually it's the other way around, they're stingy with fills.
Yes, I would ask for a small unfill. Maybe .25 CCs? Now sometimes the fill settles in and you'll be able to eat more, or, maybe less? give it till Monday and if the issue isn't resolved by then, ask for a small unfill.

I guess I don't understand what you are complaining about. You are losing pounds at a substantial rate. (Much faster than I did), you have dropped several sizes, you are working out and getting healthier. What's the problem? If you aren't happy with your progress, then someone has given you unrealistic expectations. Just keep doing what you're doing. What's the rush?

I can't recall where I found this quote but it sure fits you and I mean this respectfully:
"The jealous competitor. – Don’t be jealous of others. Jealousy is the art of counting someone else’s blessings instead of your own. Stop comparing your journey with everyone else’s. Your journey is YOUR journey, NOT a competition. You are in competition with one person and one person only – yourself. You are competing to be the best you can be. If you want to measure your progress, compare yourself to who you were yesterday"

Holy smokes, you have lost 53 pounds in two months, I think you're doing awesome. Don't beat yourself up, I think sometimes slow and steady wins the race, and who cares what the scale says, it's the inches that matter, and no matter what you've been told, size does matter, and your shrinking how exciting!!!!!

I thought you said you were losing a pound every other day now? That's 15 lbs/month which is a pretty spectacular rate of weight loss to my mind, no matter what kind of surgery anyone had. Am I misunderstanding what you are saying? Because losing 15 lbs a month is not the same thing as "not losing very fast" or "not losing pounds." I feel confused . . .

whole goods are the way to go, fake foods are not only full of crap your body cant digest, but the research suggests that fooling your body with sugar free and fat free foods actually lead to weight gain.

Does anyone else get upset when your "normal" eating family members eat your food that you have set aside for you. Then you have nothing to eat!! Idk why but this really pissed me off the other day. Maybe I had pms or something but I was practically in tears to come home and find out my kids ate my whole box of Premier Protein bars ..... In one day.. When they have an entire cabinet full of their Snacks including granola bars and what not. Sadly I felt bad the next day when my 10 year old was sick and throwing up , because he had apparently eaten 3 premier Protein bars and drank 2 of the 30g rtd premier shakes.. Maybe they will stay out of my food now lol. I need to chill a little too ugh

Oh dear I was exactly where you are right now. My pre-surgery diet was not perfect to say the least. It is a time to practice patience not perfection. You sound like you are expecting yourself to be perfect which none of us are. I have to tell you a wonderful benefit of the band. It really really curbs hunger!! It works to keep you from being hungry which is miraculous. It gives you the peace of mind to get through each day without thinking about food all the time. Before the band we don't get through Breakfast before we are dreaming about lunch. And at lunch while eating we start obsessing about what we will eat for dinner. Once you are banded your life does not revolve around food all day. It is a peaceful feeling. Get your band and you will see how easy these food cravings get. Let us know how you are doing.

Ok, then I should have given up too! I was banded 12/38/2012! 3 days after Christmas! It was hard with all the parties and festivities around me! Did I cheat during my pre-op diet? You bet your sweet bibby I did! I was careful but I did cheat! Did I want to give up? I thought about it because everyone kept telling me they were going to start their diets on Jan 1st! I was saying that my whole lifetime! So, I stuck to my guns with an occasional cheat here and there and I still had my surgery on 12/28! Best decision I ever made! Otherwise I would have been on the same cycle, I'll start my diet after the holidays, I'll start it tomorrow, I'll start it next week or I'll start on Monday! Sound familiar? Please don't give up because you had one slip up! We all slip! Deep the faith and keep that appointment. Good luck to you!

I sure do appreciate y'all and all the words of wisdom. I did not binge I only ate the one piece of cake. I am thankful for that much. I learned a lot when I ate that cake. I had never thought that food could make you feel so good. I will watch for that stress and deal with it another way. I am going to call the dr and tell them I had a slip up and just continue on with the surgery if they say it is okay. I really need to do this for myself and my health.
Thanks again. This forum is the bomb!

Sorrry you are struggling. You can not give up. Weight loss is dependent upon so many different factors so it is hard to come on this forum and compare our weight loss with the next person. All we can do it do the best we can every day. When we do the best we can to follow the rules then we are working it in the right direction. There will be bad days, but many more good days to come. Be determined. Be committed to this process. Commit to following the rules and the weight will peel off of us!!! We are powerful people with an almost magic like band. We have all the tools we just have to utilize the tools or we can't be bumped we are not losing weight. It is easy for me to get discouraged when I read of all these people losing vast amounts of weight in short amounts of time. If I compare my journey to others it will zap my motivation. I am happy with 2 pounds per week. I know that means it will take a long time for me to get to my goal weight but I am patience with this process. Going forward at a slow pace but happy with the fact the weight is still coming off and I am not in the green zone. I ignore al lot of real hunger to stretch out my daily a lot of calories. I do this so I can have a snack before I go to bed which yeps me fall asleep.

You're right...with that attitude you won't make it....
If I was so perfect, then why in the world would I need or want surgery?
I had surgery because I could not stop the hunger, the cravings, and the non stop eating.....
Pre-op diet? What a joke...I don't know why your Dr. wants you to do it...mine did not. It was the insurance co, that wanted it just for the record, I did at least attempt a medically supervised diet, in other words for the record I explored and tried all possible avenues to loose weight, AND FAILED....THEREFORE surgery was my only and last resort.
BTW, I had to do a 6 month pre-op diet, and just like any one of the 100's of diets I attempted, it started out well for the first 3-4 months, then I started to cheat, and finally started to gain all the weight back. Very typical for me, and they should have not expected anything different..........
But again, that was my Dr. and my Insurance co.'s approach...everyone should follow their Dr.'s orders....not mine.
It was the 2 week diet before surgery I stuck out because at that point nothing was going to prevent me from this surgery.
Cake?? I had a fantastic piece of carrot cake just a few nights ago...and generally get some kind of dessert when we go out to eat.
And I by no means consider myself a failure...I have lost every possible pound I can without loosing essential body mass - muscle....and I still enjoy life, and food....just not nearly as much food as before....and I get my daily Protein, Water, Vitamins and exercise.
People look at this surgery in many different ways....to me, I am not on a diet....yet many people here on this forum look at it that way, and carry over the same attitudes and apply the little gimmicks and motivational quotes, etc.
Sometimes, if I did not know any better I would think this was a Jenny Craig website and not a Bariatric Surgery website.
Like catfish87 said, NORMAL people eat cake....and I am NORMAL!!! It is the NEW NORMAL, but I eat what I want, when I want.
Hang in there, and hopefully after a few months or a year after surgery, you will begin to "Get It"...I know it took me a while, but I finally did and it has been HEAVEN ever since. Complete freedom from all that other nonsense other people go through 365 days a year.
