Of the stomach are not disturbed. Every cell in our body has its importance. Our tummy pouch is bigger than other skinny people but the functions are not different. Many argue that in plication the grehlin keeps causing hunger pangs and could lead to mixed results regarding weight loss, unlike in sleeve where the grehlin part is removed. But they should also know that same portion has the intrinsic factors responsible for assimilation of vit B12. You are taking away that part too and it's irreversable. Remember managing hunger is easier than managing vitB12 deficiency.
As for you, you are on the lighter side of obesity, plication will prove good for you. I was 207 lbs and 5'5". I've lost 13lbs. I m three wks post op. change your mind towards sleeve, get plicated instead.

Maybe trying yoga could help. Why don't you guys try the 'surya namaskar'? It's great for loosing weight. It's a combination of yoga postures which involves cardio as well as body weight trainning and core workout as well. Worked for me but right now my injury has stopped me from doing it. You can ask your trainer or any yoga teacher around you to teach the postures. It's easy to remember but difficult to do initially. But within a few days you'll definitely love it and see a difference in yourselves. If you miss out gym some day (busy mums and working dads) all you need is a yoga mat and 20 mins at home.. Good luck!

    Hi jeanet,
Welcome to our group! I always had an option of getting a sleeve done very easily. It's a common procedure. But as I always said I wasn't always comfortable with the idea of a part of my stomach being taken away. I wanted a plication even when most surgeons in India were skeptical about it.

    your posts..
i am glad i am able (to see) people for who they are
not what they look like..i raised my son to do that exact thing..
my mom judged by appearances....the bigger i got, the more of a fat, lazy, smelly slob i was
and if my mom thought that about me, i guess everyone else did too..
the way i was treated growing up made me desperate to be wanted/loved...food was my solace..
NOW i am in control of my emotions and my food intake and my execise and my want power...my band/plication gave me some back bone and i guess i grew a pair...because those who use to bother me, no longer do as they have no control over me....my ole man told me last week, when he heard some people trashing my beloved heels, haters gonna hate...
go..you are my friend and i am honored and proud to say that

    Hey cammy
That's the incision that takes longest to heal. It comes on the skin fold and yes falls on the bra strip. And the hole factor will go away slowly. But yes it'll leave a big scar:( mine took almost 2 months before I got comfortable with that particular incision.

Alcohol is a big NO-NO if you want ur surgery to be a success.. It not only adds calories but will eventually increase the stomach capacity much more than it should go. So be careful, the side effects are what we want to avert and why we chose plication in the first place... I am 14 months out and can say that the possibility of increased capacity in plication is much more than a sleeve. So, the ball is in our and our hands only. We stay careful- we lose; we let ourselves lose- we gain..why would we want something like alcohol to rule our lives, when life can be much better without it..

I kinda agree with you guys. My capacity as compared to the earlier days post surgery has definitely increased. I can easily get down 8-10 oz. at a time if I eat very slowly. If I eat fast then i can take down only 5-7 pz. I don't know if it's too much or otherwise. Jun 14 will mark my first plication anniversary..;D have lost 48 lbs. and I feel great.

Pranjala got a reaction from fatslim in How Is Hunger After Plication Surgery?
    Hi krresh
I went exactly through this. My stomach could phew and growl like anything when I'd get hungry. I was told to NOT take any semi-solid for as long as 2 wks. That was too much for me and I started taking semi-solids around ten days post surgery. But I didn't make it regular habit. Say I use to have puried food once or twice a day. But honestly I went ahead with solids very early around third wk or so. As I could easily tolerate them. But I'll advice you to be careful. Our hunger pangs are the same as before surgery and so initially it's very likely your eating patterns will be erroneous. Eat very slowly and stop as soon as you feel you'r ABOUT TO BE FULL. I did this mistake of not stopping at this point and now I can eat way much more than the initial surgery days and you don't want this. Although, I still eat very less as compared to what I could before surgery. My surgery date was 14th jun this year. My height is 5'5" and starting weight was 208 lbs and today I am 183 lbs.

Pranjala got a reaction from Bos123 in 4th Week Stall
@bos123: well counting calories always left me confused and baffled, instead I focus on the proportion of carbs, Proteins and fat in each meal I take. I always try to keep my carb intake less than 70 gms per day( I always prefer whole grains) and my Protein intake around 50-70gms per day. Rest is raw food. The sources of fat for me are fresh whole cow's milk, nuts and two tsp of coconut oil.
Another thing I've noticed is constant intake of carbs bring about major platues and we'll need to constantly keep cutting even on whole grains. If there's a stall in your journey try cutting down on carbs and increase the fat intake a bit, focusing on natural fat sources. This works.
As for me now, I've been struck with a major platue which might take a while before I can see my scale move.
@tc44055: I can easily handle 2 cups at a time now. So, yes two cups each meal, that's it. I use to work out(only walking and sometimes yoga) but since last 3 months haven't been into a routine due to a lot of travelling. That too could be a reason for "the great stall".

31lbs and 32lbs is a great number to start off... I hadn't lost even half of it during my first month. Have patience. There were times I thought my weight won't go down any further but it did. Although, my weight loss was inconsistent but was regular. I started off at 215lbs in jun last year and am down at 165lbs now and haven't lost a pound since January. Now, the effort is all up to me. I guess my plication could do only so much for me and I am kinda satisfied.) so far.

Sorry for replying so late... I am almost 6 months out, stared at 214 lbs and have lost 40 lbs so far. My wl has slowed down since pat two months but still I m losing:)) I am very particular about my Protein intake and mostly avoid overeating which I have done on certain occasions and think my stomach has streatched a bit. I am a 'grain' person and feel incomplete without it so I switched to high protein multigrain chapaties and quinoa. So far I never had any nausea but lately have started losing lots of hair :'(

Hi ski21, looks like your recovery is real good! My doc asked me to stay on liquid diet for 2 weeks, but even I felt well and started puréed food from 2nd wk onwards and had no problems. I feel now that I can start with solids as well but am feeling a bit apprehensive. When has your doctor said u to do so, or would u be discreet and decide for yourself? Tell us about your story, your age, BMI, starting weight, weight loss prior to surgery etc.

Hi casey, I m 6 days post-op, I am able to gulp down whole capsules but be gentle while taking Water, sip gradually and the caps will go down easily. Try this, if it doesn't work crush them. Try mix veg Soup or broth it's got lots of Vitamins and minerals. Your headaches could be due to gas, rub a little aesafoetida mixed in water over your abdomen(careful with the incisions) and esp around the naval. Relax and try meditations and pray to God. Things will definatly be fine.
