    Post Op Calorie Count

I had the same problem. My Fitness Pal was my lifesaver. I always made sure I got in my protein, which for me was 90 grams. Stalls are common. I found I was much happier not getting on the scale every day, maybe once a week, like a normal person. Measurements are a like saver. I lost inches when I wasn't losing pounds.

    Eating Out

It amazes me how different Drs are. I was on 3 weeks liquid, 3 weeks pureed foods , 3 weeks soft foods and after 3-4 months I got salads. Our pouches are very fragil after surgery and most of us have worried about stretching them out. But I am sure you are following your Drs suggestions. My first meal out was chicken noodle soup with no noodles.

    Post Op Calorie Count

When I started I was to have 90 grams of Protein a day. Stalls are common. Take your measurements. I found when I wasnt losing weight, I was losing inches. I also found I felt better when I wasnt on the scale all the time. The pounds will come off, they come off at different rates for everyone. I am one year out and my Dr suggested I eat 900 - 1000 cal. I eat about 1100, which he said was o.k. Just make sure you are taking your Vitamins, taking your protein and drinking your Water. Exercise is so important. I have back issues and exercise has not been an option for me. Dont stress, relax and do the best you can. My favorite foods have been salmon, tuna, cottage cheese, eggs, taco flavored ground turkey, cheese and some crackers for my bread fix. I never ate fish, especially salmon, post op, so taste buds do change. I strive for 60+ protein now. I still drink one for Breakfast every day and maybe one more during the day depending on my intake. I still dont eat Pasta, very little rice and hardly any bread. Dont rush to reinstate your old foods, eat what the Dr recommends and stay on track. Dont go back to old habits, form new ones.

    Migraines and bypass surgery

My skinny granddaughter has inherited my migraines and she is only 16. This has been going on for a while now. At least I waited until I was 30. 6 days in the last year plus is not bad compared to monthly/weekly. Glad others have had success with Tooamax. Have not heard of DHE. Hopefully the surgery will give you some relief.

    Migraines and bypass surgery

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. I guess I just got lucky with the Topamax or it was just time for the darn things to almost go away. Had one for 4 days a month ago and then For 2 days over my right eye about 2 weeks ago. Back on a low dosage, but that has been it for about a year. Food was one of my triggers before so eating properly has helped. Good luck in your adventure and great success.

    Migraines and bypass surgery

I have had migraines for about 30 years. I have found that Topiramate, generic to Topamax, has helped me tremendously. It is taken every day and the dosage is based on you. My migraines have been gone for the last year, although I have had two episodes due to barometric changes in the last two months. It is hard to say if the surgery helped or it was just finally time for them to be gone. Wishing you luck, it's no fun.

    Stalling for weeks on end

I have had many stalls and finally decided not to weigh myself. As long as the inches were falling off and my clothes have been getting too big, I am happy. One thing I tell new people is to take your measurements. There are so many times the scales will not show a loss but you will see a loss in your measurements. Make sure you are meeting your required Protein and taking your Vitamins. I kept track of my intake on My Fitness Pal. Dont let the scale get you down. Let your clothese be your guiding light. You have done great and you will continue to do so. Everyone loses at a different rate. Getting discouraged will not help. Be positive and enjoy the ride, you will get there.

    Hate food now

It definitely gets easier. I am I year post op and have no problem at all, so just enjoy what you can now and take each day as it comes. You may one day look back and wish for the days when you liked only protein shakes. Lol
  9. I hit my 1 year "surgery anniversary" in 2 weeks and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It got me off diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, reflux, migraine and arthritis medicine. I only wish I had done it sooner. I am now 70. I am 5 lbs from my goal weight, but I don't think I will stay there. My PCP actually wanted me at 160. I eat what I want, only it is healthy food now. I still stay away from bread, pasta, and rice. That is my choice. I don't ever want to go back to the person I was before. I have to confess, after many months I got my candy tooth back. So I allow sugar free sweets in once in a while. I now love fish, especially salmon. I can eat what I want, when I want, just smaller quantities, and it is all healthy. You can do this with the right mindset. Think of the medical conditions you will never have by having this procedure.
  10. Don't laugh, but your comfort foods change. Mine are now protein...tuna, salmon, cottage cheese, cheese, eggs. I don't want to eat the type of foods that make this surgery possible. Why go through this surgery if you are going to go back to your old ways. With a positive attitude and following your Drs guidelines you will do just fine. You will need your willpower, but you can do it.
  11. My experience was great. We talked, she basically wanted to make sure I was fully aware of what I was doing, the changes it will make in my life, and was I prepared. We discussed how my family was supportive, but that I had a couple of friends who were not. She gave me insight into how to handle that. If you are married, you will need to understand the changes that could affect your relationship. The Dr. Is just interested in knowing if you have thought this completely through and are prepared. The Dr is also there is answer any questions you may have.

    Weight loss

When my granddaughter became dehydrated, she ended up in the hospital for iv fluids. So be very careful. You really need to follow your Drs guidelines.

    Weight loss

Im sure you have been told this before, muscle weighs more than fat. Also, take your measurements now if you haven't done so already. I found when I wasn't losing pounds, I was losing inches. Don't be tied to the scale. I weigh now about every 2 wks or so. Don't let it discourage you. You will hit stalls. Did that in the beginning and a lot of my facebook friends did too. Some as long as 3 weeks plus. Everyone is different. Get your protein, water and vitamins in and enjoy the ride. You will get there, one step at a time.

    The FLU?

Get your flu shot. If you get the flu, you will know it..chills, fever, aches and pains, etc.

Gas, dry mouth & Taste change :(

I was allowed liquid/protein shakes for the first 3 weeks, then 3 weeks pureed foods and finally 3 weeks soft foods. All Drs are different. My staple, once I could eat, was cottage cheese and then tuna. Later I love salmon, which I never ate before surgery. All fish tastes good. Tastes change, so try something again. One time you may not like it and the next time you will. I still have 1-2 shakes a day to get my protein in.. Gas was a problem in the beginning and now if I am burping I know I have eaten too much. Once I burp, I stop eating. It is my trigger now.
