  1. I just had an awesome and VERY promising interview for a promotion...same employer...different division. My surgery date is 1/15/2015. When the person giving the interview asked at the end of the interview if there was anything I wanted to tell them, I thought, gulp! should I have mentioned that I have an elective procedure scheduled for January and would need 2 weeks off (all I was planning to take at my current job).???. Should I wait till the offer is made to disclose? Or should I request the FMLA once in the position or should I say I already have a vacation planned at the offer? I've always thought requesting FMLA is best policy but I don't won't to have that chip on my shoulder with a new employer. It may be a moot point but they are making offers today or Monday and I don't know how to proceed. Thoughts? Advice?
  2. Yay, @@DylanRae! I'm glad you made it through and are recovering!
  3. I'm a week ahead of you!!!! Yay!
  4. I did OA HOW several several years ago. I lost 140#. I've gained back all but 60 of those. I'm thinking OA combined with a surgical tool could be very effective for the truly metabolically challenged. You can message me if you want to chat.
  5. @@DylanRae!!! I know today is your big day and you are going in soon! Good Luck and the Seattle crew is thinking and praying for your very uneventful procedure and recovery!!! :) :)
  6. Whatever weight you decide to land at is cool, but what I'm noticing is that your man looks happy in that after pic!!! Lol keep up the good work!!!
  7. I'm nearing the end/beginning of my journey! I made it through the 6 month medically supervised diet, saw the NUT, had the psych eval, and attended a support group. My surgeon is submitting a letter of medical necessity and my date is tentatively set for 1/15/2015!! I'll start my pre-op diet on 1/1/2015. I was so scared at the beginning of this process, but now that I've done my research and read SO MANY posts on this site I am confident I am making the right decision for myself and my future!!!!! :)
  8. So sorry to hear this. How are you doing?
  9. My kid has two mom's. My wife is mama and I'm Mimi. My name is Michelle, so it's works well.
  10. @@DLCoggin, I can't say enough how much of a "game changer" your posts are. So relevant to my experience and I haven't even had surgery yet. I cannot tell you how many times I have embarked on unrealistic and therefore unsustainable exercise regimes!!! I don't know if it correlates with the whole food thing, but it feels like the exact same thing as with the new diet. The build-up, the start, the early success, the plateau, the disappointment, the slack off, the complete and screeching halt, the feelings of guilt and sadness for "failing" yet again. And it wasn't until I read your post that I saw the same pattern with exercise that I exhibit with food and diets. Its almost identical! I am learning slowly that I can succeed with small measurable goal-setting and even friendly challenges with myself. In the past, its always zero to 60, couch to half marathon with me. So, thanks for giving hope that there is another way possible.

  18. @@Essence46, you got me cracking up! I want a coach purse...lol
  19. Phew! Glad I'm not the only one who is an admitted foodie. I love local, good quality, organic when I when I afford it. Love the neighborhood farmers markets. I cook all of the meals, it is our division of labor. My spouse has been unemployed and that has taken the some of the load/joy off and it's nice to come home to some delicious paleo slow cooker that we will all be able to enjoy. Combined with a bread (for them) and/or salad and veggies, they are meals I'm confident I can enjoy after surgery. I'm a member of a small foodie-ish potluck group that meets quarterly, that I love. Overindulgence is not the focus and I'm the largest person in the group. We pick a different country cuisine each time. I hope I can still enjoy those. It's funny how this is my last holiday season before surgery and I'm still not looking forward to it. I'm completely uninspired to cook, and Celebrate actually. Hmmm.....
  20. I think I got it! Pettit pouchet, little pouch in French! :-)
  21. @@CowgirlJane, I don't know it's supposed to be cold. I hope you can make it. We're meeting solidly at the end of the afternoon. :-)
  22. Oh no @@DylanRae, we are meeting next Sunday the 16th! I hope you can make it back. We'll be in the reserved rooms in the back! :-) Thanks for the catch @@CowgirlJane!
