  1. Kindle, I think if you can stop and stay stopped at will, you were never an addict to begin with. Addictions do start with habits, so it's advisable to be careful as you know. VSGAnn2014, same boat. Sugar in the afternoon / morning will most assuredly land me making poor food choices into the evening. Same with alcohol, I always end up making food choices I regret when I have too much to drink or end up drinking later into the evening.
  2. xmaleengyx, sometimes I worry about people being nervous about upcoming stressful events they want to trim down for. I would say to refocus your thoughts on being well. This decision is for you. I'm sure your friends would rather see you healthier and thinner rather than unhealthy, fat, inebriated for the sake of "having fun." There will be other parties and so many other things to celebrate in this life. You are relatively young and if you can't envision a life with alcohol as the focal point of a party or celebration (for life) maybe talking more time to think isn't a bad idea.
  3. Hang in there, Paradisa! You are not alone!!
  4. I've heard people using fiber gummies...
  5. How did I miss this thread. I'm team 15, but I'm having rny today. Good Luck to all of us!!
  6. Who's on Team 1/15???? Less than 24 hours to go!!!!!!!!
  7. I go tomorrow, so I'm right there with you QueenieB! I bringing my phone, headset and charger. Chapstick, gas-ex strips, a pillow for the ride home and little maternity belly bander And a book for the 2 hour wait before surgery. The hospitals have everything else in terms of toiletries. Tell the prep nurse/tech and they will supply you with pads. Or whatever they want you in. Girl, your whole body is about the be cut open, I don't think there is a such thing as TMI...LOL Good luck!!
  8. If you are at a provider's office by the time you see the NUT they would not be wasting their time with you if they thought or knew your insurance wouldn't cover. If your BMI is over 40 you should be fine with no co-morbs. Hey, we are having a support group for people in Bothell at the Lyon's den cafe on Sun 1/25 at 3pm. Its open to anyone pre or post surgery and welcome to all types WLS as well. Join us!
  9. I'm a vocalist and I posted about returning to singing and was told by a couple of folks that the could sing in a week or two. Regarding your embouchure and throat, I've requested the anesthesiologist use a scope while placing the intubation tube. Most hospitals allow you to request a particular anesthesiologist and are receptive and try to accommodate. I'm going to ask for the chief of service. You don't want them yanking it out. I personally want extreme care with the pipes/throat. Of course there is no guarantees, but I just wanteded these things in place just in case for this and other reasons...
  10. Congratulations!!! I go in tomorrow.
  11. To the discussions above I will echo that its not effortless but malabsorption is malabsorption with the bypass and that reality is everything you consume will not show up on your body. Hwoever, if you eat the wrong things you could possibly dump. James M. had the bypass and I have seen record of his diligence to his program on this site and he has gotten results. Work and making a concerted effort is different than struggling. We all struggled with our weight. Most for a lifetime. Our tool has to be a tool for us not a solution.
  12. People that know: My s/o My mama Three work folks 6 friends of many, none of which have obvious food issues. 1 friend who my s/o leaked it to on accident I'm pre-op and figure everyone didn't need to know before. I dont want to hear about your momma's hairdresser's sisters cousin who had weight loss surgery. Not of interest. I'll probably tell some folks who ask later. This has been a totally switch for me as I get closer to the date ie the day after tomorrow. I wasn't planning on telling anybody. What I noticed when my plan was accidentally leaked was that I was initially very angry and then ASHAMED. I didn't want to be that fat person. That fat person that was so out of control she needed surgical intervention. Well the truth is I am that fat person. I'm that fat person that managed to loose weight once (140 lbs) and gained it all back. I'm that fat person that many celebrated previously and now have gone back to looking past. I'm not publicizing it, but I ain't lying either. Not my first time at the rodeo. Everyone who is fat will deal with those deep shameful feelings or keep eating. It's not required to disclose your information to work through your feelings obviously, and some days I will regret my decision perhaps to disclose. Who knows. For now I'll work on my snappy confident lipstick lady-esque comebacks and keep it moving. PS. Friends have been nothing but supportive. I think my tribe would never be anything but.....Good luck!
  13. Kellsbells, no way do you look like you're pushing 60! Stop lying! lol
  14. Good Luck tomorrow!!
  15. Dude, why am I just seeing this?! I'm in hysterics over here. Love this!!!!!
  16. My date got moved up to the 15th! Uh, that's Thursday!!!
  17. Hey Everyone, I'm totally getting excited!!! I've never felt excited yet, just always nervous. Something has shifted. I'm a pretty active person so my s/o is like, "you need a reason to just sit around for a few weeks!" lol My date is this Thursday. I strayed a little from the pre-op diet this weekend, but nothing too crazy. One thing I know is that I'm not going to freak out about that. Lessons learned. Moving forward. I'm committing to not beating myself up over food anymore. Been there. Done that. Got the t-shirt! I'm excited to have this tool in place. I met with my surgeon on Friday and I feel good. Her complication rate is well below the national averages which are already low. Her patients typically do well and are compliant. I'm excited to join the ranks. She asked if anything has changed in my health status since we last met I said no. Then I asked HER if anything as changed with her practice or patients' status since we last met!!! LOLL... I got my stations all set up last night. I've got my food area in the kitchen stocked with water enhancements, jello, soups, puddings, milk powder in the pantry and fridge. Upstairs in the bathroom cabinet I've got my vitamins, meds and scale. Getting some gauze from work today. Then I got my bag for the hospital almost ready to go with my gas X strips, car pillow, roomy jammies, my belly binder and chapstick. I've been collecting for about a month now. This site has been helpful in getting me organized. I can't believe I'm doing this!!!!!!! How's everyone doing?
  18. Yes!! JALUVIC. We are meeting at the Lyons Den Cafe in Bothell on Sunday, January 25th at 3pm. Hope to see you there!
  19. It totally sucks, but for anyone reading this who up and decides they want WLS the best thing is to skip the doctor and call your insurance first. They set the rules we all have to play by, unless you're going for self pay in Mexico. I was working with a case manager through my insurance for a year prior to even thinking about calling anyone for a consult.
  20. Girl. You were a diva before now you are everything!
  21. Team natural too for a long time. My hair is so thick and kinky, I would welcome some shedding!!! Lol
  22. Look up gaslightling? And being in a relationship with a narcissist and see if anything resonates with you.
  23. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Of course I want to hear the good, bad and the ugly. I've read the horror stories on this site and I think I know what I'm getting into. I've noticed the closer I get to the actually date the more I want to hear the good stories.....its natural, I think.
