Chelly got a reaction from enjoyinglife in My Friday Routine- I'm scared
If you are still eating those foods a week before surgery it sounds to me like you might not be ready for this surgery yet.
I know that sounds harsh but this surgery is a huge change and those foods will make you so sick if you eat them afterwards. There is dumping syndrome, a chance of stretching your stomach out again.
Apparenty your husband doesn't take this seriously to help you.
If he did he wouldn't buy you foods you shouldn't eat.
I suggest talking to someone like a therapist or surgeon about you're fears and concerns.
Whatever you decide to do good luck and best wishes.

Chelly got a reaction from Dawnakers in Beginning My Journey Soon... I hope!
I started with my first appointment with the surgeon in May 2013 and had my surgery September 2013.
I was lucky that it was that short of a time.
I believe on average for most it's at least 6 months.
I depends on the insurance you have, what your surgeon requires you to do before they do surgery.
Good luck with your journey into WLS.

Chelly got a reaction from ren0318 in Just wish I could make a decision!
I had diabetes and had the gastric bypass surgery and haven't taken a med for it since the day of the surgery.
I just had my A1C done this past week and it was 4.7
I know that it is scary to make this decision but I'm glad I did in the long run.
At first I was going to have the sleeve but I also had Gerds and with the sleeve it can get worse so I didn't want to take that chance and also diabetes doesn't go away with the sleeve like it does with the bypass.
I know that you are thinking about the lapband and all I can say about it is that I know people that had it and wand up changing afterwards to bypass.
The final decision is yours and I wish you all the luck in the world in whatever you decide.

Instead of Oreo's may I suggest Cookies 'N Creme Quest Bars. They are wonderful tasting and they have no sugar but are made with stevia, low carbs and 20g of Protein in them.
Quest Bars come in so many different flavors that you might find them enjoyable subsitute for your cravings.
I found a hard candy from Italy called Petite Deceit and they are made with stevia and they are 2 calories per candy also very low in carbs. They come in fruit flavors.
Be creative with Protein shakes by adding extract to them when making them in the blender.
I found a great sugar free popsicle called Bomb Pops made with Splenda.
You have done great so far why go backwards. Is it worth it?
Maybe try something here it might help you get through this hard time and future times too.
Good luck and keep going forward.

Sugary things for gastric bypass people can make them sick and can give them dumping affect so no thank you to that.
Let these activities stay in my dreams where they do no harm.

Chelly got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Recovery Time - Band vs Bypass
    Hi,
Well I know that in my medical group that did my gastric bypass surgery they are getting away from doing the lap band surgery.
The reason is it is the least sucsessful of the three surgeries and alot of people later have to have it revised to a different surgery like to the gastric bypass due to complication or the lack of the success of it working.
With gastric bypass I was up walking around from day one and everyday after. The pain truthfully I've had worse with smaller surgeries. You can't lift anything over 10 LBS for the first month after that it's up to your doctor to decide. I know some people that went back to work after a week of surgery which is real fast. Most people go back after two weeks but your self employed so this is a different thing and I don't know what you do so for you this is could be much sooner.
I would say study both surgeries as much as you can and go to bariatric meetings to ask questions of people that have had these surgeries and how they feel about them.
I'm not an expert I'm just going by what I've heard from going to the bariatric meetings in my area, I've heard from the surgeons in the group, and read.
Good luck in your decsion of whatever surgery you do and make it your choice that you feel is right for you.

Chelly got a reaction from Meintraining in Soups and protein
Hi if you use cream Soups they must be 98% fat free and then blended in the blender and strained before consuming.
I have used powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup powder when I was on that part of the program and it has 20g of Protein in it and you must follow directions on how to make it or it comes out weird.
For Protein shakes I use Rob Roy Protein Powder that has 25g of Protein in each scoop and with a cup of skim milk it makes it 33g of protein in each shake. I use the chocolate or vanilla and add extract flavors to give different flavors to it if I want a change.
If you drink Crystal Light in your Water you can always add a spoonful of unflavored protein to that and that helps get your protein in for the day too.

My nutritionist told me that occasionally that instead of a shake I could have a Pure Protein Bar. You can purchase them at grocery stores, pharmacies and places like Walmart or Target. Maybe that might satisfy your chocolate craving with something that has the proper nutrition.

Chelly got a reaction from Jeana1383840066 in Clif Bar?
Hi, Please read the label before you eat the Clif Bar for what's in there. You find a lot of stuff you don't want that could possibly make you sick like the chocolate and the sugar. If you want to try a Protein Bar I suggest Quest Bars which are made with Stevia and most likely will not make you sick because Stevia is not sugar. Now I've been told by my Surgeon and Nutritionist not to eat Protein Bars but it's up to you what to do for yourself. I'm just giving you a suggestion of a bar that probably won't make you sick like most Protein bars would because of the sugar content.

Hi, I had my surgery September 25 and am on soft foods and am doing fine with it. I am feeling 99% of the time fine but every so often I get a little quesy from eating or pain if I eat to fast or take to big of a bit. For me losing the weight is slow but at least I'm losing continuously so that's good.

I use Jay Robb chocolate or vanilla whey Protein powders made with stevia.
They in my opinion they are light and not overly sweet.
You can purchase individual packets to try.
They make other flavors I believe.
Good luck in finding something you like.
