    Count down begins

Hi SA, downloaded the book on your advice, I agree it really looks great and will keep me busy reading for some time. My tips for the pre-op diet (and this will probably depend on the diet you are given), but if its Optifast - the Choc flavoured bars are really good and I ate loads of free salads and veggies. I am Vegetarian so this bit wasn't too hard, I did really miss having milk in coffee though. If you get stuck out and about without planned food the Subway salad bowl with all salads saved me heaps of times. As for Hospital - no real tips on what to pack, just the usual stuff. I'd probably say if you are planning to have any visitors to hospital leave it until the second day. I went in on a Thurs and was discharged Mon. Good luck with the Nut next week, if its anything like mine you will come back with pre-op, post op and beyond diet info. This is all very useful but also very well covered in your book.
  2. Hi Burlesque, I'm in Sydney Australia but my date was shifted forward to 26 Sept. I'm recovering and glad it is over looking forward to the new me. All the best with your surgery - I imagine you have just started the liquids?

The time will fly SA. I'm just home today for my first sleep in my own bed since surgery. It's nice but still pretty sore as the drugs wear off. Its such a different sensation for me having had the band for 8 years before conversion. When do you start your pre op diet? I'd definitely be interested in your thoughts on your new book purchase once you receive it.
  4. Thanks Rnjs, Day 2 of recovery in hospital now and definitely feeling more human. The first few hours were rough but I think that may have been due to lots of scar tissue from my band. Look forward to hearing how you go.
  5. I'm in Sydney and 2 weeks ago was rescheduled to tomorrow 26 Sept. Lying in bed clock watching at the moment with only 3hrs left until I need to get up to head to the hospital - excited and anxious all at the same time.
  6. I like OMG October too! Hopefully we will all have lots of OMG in November and December and right throughout the new year maybe that would be TMI?
  7. I'm 14 Oct, on the other side of the world to most of you but will def be checking in to share, support and get inspiration from all other October buddies here.

  9. Thanks for your reply long walk, u r right about the pounds to kg thing. Don't know how many times I've referred to my calc reading this site Hope your return to work went ok and that your energy is starting to return - I read somewhere in the last day or so that 7 weeks po is the magic time things start to settle down after Rny. Look forward to hearing more of your progress
  10. Hi There, Nice to see some Aussie voices on this site. I am due to have my band removed on 10 July for revision to Rny scheduled for October. (The mandatory 3 month wait with my Dr). I had around 4 yrs of success keeping weight off with the band and was down to around 85kg from original 145kg. Unfortunately I developed esophigal issues (too much vomiting I suspect) and ended up having all Fluid removed from my band. Now I'm back to my pre band starting weight and feeling incredibly depressed about it - can't wait until Oct but very scared all at the same time. Would love to hear from others especially anyone in syd - what doctor / clinics are u going to.
