  1. I keep it whole...the recipe is really for pork butt...but too much fat! Add water after about two hours if it's drying out.
  2. I'm. Kris. I'm. 48 and a mother of three wonderful sons. I've worn many hats in my life...lifeguard, mountain woman, chef, aerobics instructor, and teacher. I taught gifted elementary students for fifteen years; loved it! I had open heart surgery in 2000 that left me with permanent nerve damage in my left side...very painful, but what can you do? I've been disabled and taught part time since 2000. I was moved to try wls after realizing that I had gone from 150 lbs. To 200 to 250 and finally. To almost 300 all while being in denial. I have a therapy dog and we visit hospitals and I could barely walk the hospital halls...my weight was keeping me from doing what I wanted to accomplish in life. I had surgery on 4/29 and I'm so glade I did! Down over 50 lbs.and can't wait to lose the rest. You all are the best!
  3. Come on over! I only had two small bites of tortilla..I'm soooo paranoid about refined carbs. I was a carb junkie, so I stay away. I love the challenge of turning high fat recipes into healthier ones.
  4. Me too...I've been looking around but the sugar and carbs scare me.
  5. Glad to hear it's not serious but sorry you're in pain....hope you got some pain meds.
  6. Krystal...you are an incredibly strong woman!
  7. Check with your Dr....lots of important stuff under there like your liver and pancreas. I had the same pain after my gallbladder surgery and I had an infection. Its probably nothing but better safe than sorry.
  8. Pork carnitas.... 3 lbs pork loin three sliced onions, four small cans green chile's, 1 jar green salsa, garlic, salt, pepper, cumin...cook in crock pot for six hours and shred. I served with whole wheat tortillas, low fat cheese, and fat free sour cream. Tum!
  9. I'm glad they're doing a scope yo be sure!
  10. Great! Happy biking
  11. My sister is 5'7" and 123...never had a weight problem she's very active but literally eats more than anyone I know...my mom was the same. Very crazy metabolism...she's one of THOSE. We live in a beach town and she's constantly asking me how she looks in her bikini. I finally came to realize that it's just what she has to do to make herself feel better about her own body insecurities (read: no boobs). Of course she's my sister so I can forgive a lot. My mom and she would often cackle about fat people until I confronted them...I asked if they would talk about a minority that way. That shut them up right quick.
  12. The only good thing about protein shots is that they're small...and I mean the only good thing.
  13. I think you're probably right. It's interesting to me that some insurance plans will pay for the deleterious effects of obesity before they pay for wls.
  14. I was told no carbonation at all.
  15. Had chicken marsala 2 oz with. Two bites of salad...hard not to eat the salad first.
  16. Yup hit my first stall too. Sigh. So I upper my protein and walked longer...did arm toning video. I refuse to freak out over this!
  17. Congratulations!
  18. Welcome! I'm with you on the sweet stuff. I use either unjury or nectar unflavored in vitamin water.@
  19. As a teacher, a letter of thanks and flowers will mean more than more than one more coffee mug! Have your daughter make a card. It will be a testament to the growth the teachers have helped her make.
