Slow weight loss doesn't mean someone isn't following the plan. I am 10 weeks today and have "only" lost 38 lbs. I have not cheated once. I get all my Protein, Water & Vitamins. I have not had a bite of bread, Pasta, rice or potato.
Being a slow loser is frustrating...especially when you KNOW you aren't "eating like the surgery never happened"

maybe you should check your blood sugar, dumping is caused by eating foods that are high in sugar/carbs my nutritionist said that our body reacts to the carbs with a surge of insulin which then causes a drop uh blood sugar leading to the symptoms that you're having.

I am 9 weeks post op and have lost 40lbs. and a total of 66lbs. I definitely have to keep an eye on my Protein and make sure I am getting enough, and enough Fluid in order to lose. I have one pound to go to onederland and I couldn't be happier. I on average, lose about 3lbs a week. I am a nurse and walk a lot at work and on my 4 days off a week, I do either aerobics or zumba and walk.

Hi everyone! I just got my date today - June 13th! I thought I would be more excited when I finally got a date, but in actuality I'm scared. I just feel like crying right now. I know it's just my nerves, but it's a bit unexpected. Anyway, I'll be beginning my Atkins diet on May 30th. How do I get a ticker on my posts?

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. I've been working on shrugging off negative opinions and remembering that opinions are just points of view that define the other person- not me. Everyone is entitled to what they think, but it is my journey and life to live. :-)
I got my pre-op blood work done yesterday, and am getting excited. Meet the surgeon on Thursday. Two weeks from today I will be on the losers bench! Can't wait :-)

Let there negative comments motivate you :-) I am blessed enough to have the 99% of people around me being supportive... The one was one co worker. Even recently I wore a not so flattering top and knowing the head issues I have... Told me I looked like I gained weight. It bothered me at first then I said eff it. And dropped 7 pounds in a week after joining a gym :-D HA!

I am so sorry that you lost your mom at such a young age. I can't imagine how painful that loss was to go through.
I too have people in my life who don't seem to grasp what living a day in my body is really like. The first doctor I ever had the nerve to ask about gastric bypass told me that they don't do the surgery for "vanity" reasons. That was around eight years ago and how I wish I hadn't settled for that answer! My health has only declined in that time & now I have no problem getting a doctor to suggest surgery.
    What an accomplishment, huh?
Time on this earth is limited and I want to live and give all that I can. There are so many things I can't do with the limitations of this body. I have a family who deserve a healthier wife, mother, daughter, sister, etc. I have so much to live for and obesity is not on my side.
Decision made. Step aside fear, this girl is moving forward!

Wish I could bottle it up and give it out. I stay focused on how hard it has all been and keeps me focused. I'm most proud that I haven't drank soda. I was a soda freak needed it to survive! Lol or at least I thought I did. I haven't even thought about it. When I'm doing cardio I always look at the amount of calories burned. That keeps me FOCUSED!!!

I lost about 7 pounds total those first 2 weeks post-op, I'd lost 14 the 2 weeks pre-op....the lower loss was frustrating at first while people around me were losing 12 a week....but I've come to learn that's just how I work....3 a week is about my average, since its an easy 3 and I'm not starving, I'll take it and consider it a success . I tried to a skip the scales and stick to once or twice a week weigh ins so I didn't go Insane with the readings!!!
    Make yourself proud!!!

Hello I'm new to this site! I have just started out on this journey again for the second time and this time I'm ready, I think! lol. in 2011 I started going to geriatric seminars, found a doctor was going to get the lap band, the doctor recommended RNY butbut I was hesitant about having such a serious surgery so I stopped the process. I'm a nurse I work with bariatric patients and have done my research so now I am considering RNY or gastric sleeve. I feel this time I am more informed, I take care of the patients when they come out of surgery so I know what to anticipate and although everyone is different the surgery part is pretty straight forward it what happens when you go home and start living life what but I guess I will find out forward. my initial consultation is may 9th with Dr Coirin in Modesto CA
