I HAVE A NEW ATTITUDE!!!!
Clear liquids today, surgery tomorrow at 1:30pm. I'm not angry anymore. I'm looking forward to the surgery. Anxiously awaiting the blossoming of my new body! I had a beauty shop appointment, mani and pedi today. I feel good!!! I'm no longer depressed. I am happy!

Mami, if I remember correctly, you maintain a food log (MFP?). Have you tried increasing your daily calorie goal by 100-200 calories for a week and seeing what impact that has on your weight? I've dropped lower than my goal a few times and a moderate increase in my calorie intake has always got me back on track. Logging has worked equally well for me for weight gain, weight loss or maintenance.

I was on the Vertical Sleeve forum until I went to the surgeon & he recommended gastric bypass instead. Someone on there had started a thread of the top ten things they were looking forward to doing after losing their weight. I thought I'd share my list here: (but I have 20)
1. Ride a bike without the tires digging into the dirt 4 inches.
2. Use the stairs at work instead of the elevator
3. Sit in a booth at a restaurant instead of insisting on a table.
4. Feel like my husband is really proud of me
5. Rekindle love life with husband
6. Scuba dive
7. Parasail
8. turn diabetes around
9. give up CPAP
10. turn high blood pressure around
11. watching all my grandchildren grow up
12. look good at the pool without wearing cover ups
13. not drive around and around the parking lot looking for the closest spot
14. learn to dance (even though I've been told I have no rhythm!)
15. wear high heels again without feeling like I'm front heavy
16. surf
17. be able to wear my class ring on my ring finger instead of my pinky
18. Not have to ask for the seatbelt extender on an airplane.
19. Do a cartwheel
20. Not feel like I've been passed up for a promotion because of my appearance

I'll leave the food and exercise suggestions to others but wanted to say you have some brain work to do my friend! You're losing almost a pound a day....on no planet does that qualify as slow losing. Your weight loss is amazing an you need to learn to look at it as 'I've lost 35 pounds!!!!' Appreciated it, Celebrate it, claim it and be proud. This 'I've only lost xxxx pounds' is way too negative. This is a marathon, not a sprint, don't expect miracles (although the surgery itself has been a miracle for many of us) set realistic goals and Celebrate when you achieve them. I swear sometimes I think 2/3 of tr weight loss game is mental.
Good luck, you'll get there, but why not enjoy the ride while you're in it?

Doing great! Had surgery on July 10th. No issues at all. Hospitsl staff were amazed on how well I did. I want say thanks to all of those that post...all the info here has been educating me on dos and donts. One thing I realized is that room temp Water is best for me. Cold bothers a bit going down..

Went and bought some smaller clothes today. I was a 22 pants and 2-3x shirts pre-op. I still find myself gravitating towards styles for big girls. Well today I bought a shirt in a medium and size 12 jeans. And I looked good! Check out my shoulders! Who knew I even had any?

Before surgery I was on a diabetic pill called Onglyza and two different insulins. One (Apedra) a fast acting insulin I took 20 units per meal and a long lasting insulin (Lantus) that I took 95 units each night at bed. I am now 9 days post op and I haven't had any of those medications since I left the hospital! PTL!! I go on Tuesday to meet with my pcp and I'm hoping to come off the Crestor and Lisinipril. I'm very very happy how things are going!

I called BCBS and I was given my insurance approval and authorization code today. It was submitted on Tuesday. Thank God, YES YES YES!!!!!

I just got a call from my insurance and after being originally denied due to the surgery scheduler not sending everything in, I have now been APPROVED!!!!! July 23rd is my scheduled date and I had already started the liquid diet and am on day 3 of that.
I am doing the fat man celebration dance!!
