  2. I need to find lots of recipes to use once I start eating real food!!! All I know how to cook is stuff loaded with butter, sour cream and other fattening things in it!!! I have no idea how to cook healthy : (
  3. Oh I know the feeling!! Sometimes my diamox gets stuck in my throat because I cut the pill in 4 and I keep drinking to get it down but then I've drank too much and my new pouch will either make me feel like I'm dumping( sweaty, hot, dizzy and nauseous.. Then the other day it happened and I felt like someone ripped my pouch out and couldn't catch my breath !! I thought I was gonna have to call 911... But about 30 minutes later it finally stopped!!
  4. I have to take potassium supplement daily and it'sl liquid and I have to mix it with water... It is so nasty!!! I hope you don't have to take any cuz I feel sick every morning after I take it!
  5. Sounds like a good plan to wait till June!! Best of luck to you and hope everything is smooth sailing! Do you mind me asking your age?? Trying to meet someone to walk the journey with me.. A friend who knows the battles I'm going through.. Most of my close friends seem to be treating me a lil different since I told them I was getting gastric bypass!
  6. So far so good!!! From initial visit to surgery was a month, which to me from what I've heard about how long it can take was super fast! Whenever I have a question I get a prompt response from them which is very nice. I haven't had any problems since surgery expect now 2 times I have drank to fast and felt like someone was ripping out my pouch and couldn't breath because it hurt soo bad... But they said that was normal and it was from drinkin too fast. It's definitely a learning experience!!
  7. I live in Gloucester, not that close... but nthing really is LOL !! I had my RNY done in Newport News by Dr. Salzberg( Riverside Weightloss and Surgical Center) My surgery was on 3/13/13
  8. my dr. said no gummies or the chewable caramel or choc. squares. I found today that if you suck on the muti and calcium from bariatric advantage its not as bad and i dont feel sick.
  9. I am taking Bariatric Advantage vitamins.. The b-12, iron, multi and calcium. I hate the calcium and multi vitamin and they are huge!!! The calcium is very tangy but them chalky and the multi is very bitter. Every morning I try taking all my vitamins at once with my other pills and also try to take my evening pills all at once. Usually it make me feel sick after and I have to lay down for 10 min till the sickness goes away. But tonight I tried taking them and washing it down with a protein shake. I took a few sips but my pills that I have to break up got stuck in my throat so I drank more protein. I immediately felt really sick so I sat down, then all the sudden my new pouch started hurting so bad it hurt to breath. I started crying because the pain was unbearable! It lasted like 30 minutes then the pain went away.. I hate taking all these vitamins!!
  10. I just wanted to thank everyone who kept my dad and family in their prayers !!! He went from being told they couldn't fix his heart and he was going to die to finding the best aortic cardiologist surgeon on the east coast!! He had surgery to repair his torn aorta Thursday and is recovering well!! They expect him to be able to go home next week and make a full recovery soon!!! God is amazing!!!
  11. Well idk if what I had is a mini incision but I have 5 very tiny incisions. 1 above my belly button, 2 on the left and 2 on the right and they are only about an inch long if that. They are healing beautifully. I'm 3 weeks out and they are almost invisible and I feel great most of the time!!!
  12. Thanks Pookybear! I try so hard to get as much fluid in as possible but I'm lucky if I make it to 40oz.
  13. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op and have been on Prilosec then nexium for 10 years plus. My surgeon told me my acid reflux would go away as soon as surgery was done and he was right!! I haven't had any meds since surgery for the acid reflux.... Although I had gastroperesis as well and apparently that was a big factor in having such bad acid reflux, and having the surgery. Good luck and hopefully it will go away soon!
  14. Is it normal to have extremely dry skin after surgery?? For the last 2 weeks my skin has been flaking off and looks like I'm heeling from a sun burn. It is horrible and no matter how much cream or lotion I put on it doesn't go away!!!
  15. It has officially been 1 week with no weight loss at all ... I am beyond frustrated !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm starting to feel like that's all the weight I am going to loose. I'm still doing everything by the book and getting at least 35 oz of water a day and 3 protein shakes and all I can seem to eat atrial times is about 1 1/2 oz. of meat!!! I'm walking briskly on the tread mill 5x a week for about 20-30 min. What am I doing wrong that my weight has been stalled for a week, how long is this stall going to last?? I'm not even 3 weeks post op !!!
  16. OMG ...,,,, a juicy medium rare cooked burger with lots of bacon, sautéed onions and mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, pickles, tomatoes and lettuce with a side of Five Guys French fries sounds sooo yummy right now!!! Guess I have to imagine my puréed chicken is that instead!
  17. Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes ! I hope to hear some good news soon.. His birthday is Monday and I plan on going and spending the day with him!
  18. I gained over 20 lbs. in the hospital !!! But a week and 2 days later I had not only lost all that but I also lost 13 " real " pounds !!! Now I am at a stall since Monday but everyone including my Dr. Say it's normal... Also, my stomach is still bigger than before surgery and I'm told in time that will go away. So don't fret over the weight, it's totally normal !
  19. I didn't have a binder thingy either.. Just my skin and incisions!!! Bad news, my dad is in the ICU, apparently he has a tear in his aorta, and they say operating is too dangerous... But leaving it to heal could also kill him if his Bp is too high.. I'm a nervous wreck and the first thing that came to mind was a big bowl of ice cream!! It finally dawned on me that I had indeed used food for comfort in the past! So instead, I just held my husband and kids and let the tears and emotions flow... Please, those who believe in the power of prayer, pray for my dad to recover from this and be back to his old self soon! Thank You All!!! May God bless you !
  20. Still the same as last week... How frustrating; (
  21. So I am now 2 weeks post op and have only lost 13 lbs. I have not lost any weight since Monday which is 4 days... An I having a stall already? I know I haven't been feeling in enough fluids since I started the puréed stage. Lucky if I can get 30 oz in and 2 protein shakes! Any advice from those who have been there ???
  22. 4' 10" and goal weight is 120.
  23. Well I'm a natural red head and so is my son. All I know is that both of us seem to need more pain meds then others, and they need more meds to knock us out or numb us for like dental work. I've heard that's common in reds!
