Dry skin

Is it normal to have extremely dry skin after surgery?? For the last 2 weeks my skin has been flaking off and looks like I'm heeling from a sun burn. It is horrible and no matter how much cream or lotion I put on it doesn't go away!!!

I think so. Probably from hormonal changes, or maybe you're not drinking enough water? Your body could be pulling the moisture out of your skin to compensate for what you should be drinking. Try increasing your liquids a bit and see if that helps :)

Thanks Pookybear! I try so hard to get as much fluid in as possible but I'm lucky if I make it to 40oz.

I hear ya! Some days I can get my 64 in and then some with no problem, other days I don't even come close. Try a little more each day. And remember that milk, decaf tea and coffee, Soups, and your Protein Drinks all count towards your liquids.

I know what you mean as well.... I got a sea salt body scub that leaves my skin feeling smooth and flake free after a shower.

These are my new friends

I have difficulty getting water in too, and have had really dry skin. Normally its just my body, but since surgery its my face too. I also attribute this to my hypothyroid but I've been using a gentler face wash in the am and pm as well as adding a moisturizer before Bed and before makeup in the am (plus less makeup). My body wash has a moisturizer in it too. I must admit that I almost always forget to moisturize my legs and feet, but I carry lotion in my bag, truck and at work so I'll usually get it on my arms and hands at some point in the day.
