changingme reacted to Chaser in I've started to gain weight and getting my cravings back after 9wks!
You're doing well. We all fluctuate up and down. Heck, month-long stalls are normal too. Maybe it's related to that time of the month? Or some junkfood? I'm 9 months out and still loves me those potato chips.
Try not to get down because of the numbers on the scale. They don't define you. You've already succeeded by taking the courageous step to have bypass surgery and change your life for the better.

changingme reacted to kiwiladydee in is it safe to take Diet supplements after Gastric bypass?
I've had both done before surgery. I'm not sure how effective it is or the side effects after surgery. Before surgery, the HCG drops has a lot of restrictions that you have to follow including no lotion, etc. It completely messed up my hormones and was just another temporary fix. I've had several sessions of colonics when I was having stomach / gluten sensitivity problems. It did help improve my skin glow and move some really old stuff out of my system, but did not help with weight loss.

It so hard to get the "I didnt gain this weight overnight, I wont lose it overnight" thoughts in your head. I know it is for me. Somedays all I want to do is exercise and go go go as hard as I can to make the weight come off faster...but it doesnt...it stalls me out! The fear we all have of not measuring up to others weight loss gets us sometimes too! But I am an individual, not a production part.... I have to do what works for me.
Just relax, slow down your pace, follow the plan and I promise this will work for you! Try not to overdo it, just keep moving forward slowly!

Please take things easy... 25 lbs is alo of weight i think in 3 weeks. I would cut back on the exercise and give your body time to heal. I understand the drive to get your weight loss going, but i believe that sometimes taking it slowly is a good thing. Our bodies need time to heal and our minds time to understand our new way of life. The weight will be lost, there's no need to fall in a"whirlwind" mode.... I find the less i jump on the scales, the more i lose. Im just over six months out, and down about 95lbs and with some long stalls but through it all i never felt that pressure of failure that has always made me give up on all the other diets i have tried.
    Please take it easy...

You guys are too funny! Soccermomma73 you are so 100% correct! We have to be realistic without being martyrs or going overboard. This surgery is a tool to use wisely. I am 10 months out and I have lost 82 lbs.. I'm not breaking any speed records, but when my grand kids have their birthdays, I don't sit with a long haggard look being a martyr over a piece of cake. My daughter in law knows to cut me a small piece and I have a couple of bites and I quit. Am I full or do I feel I'll from it, no. I want to live my life to the best of my ability and be happy. My diabetes is gone, my cholesterol is normal and my grand kids notice that grandma has more energy. I would like to lose 40 more, but my Dr. Says 20 more is sufficient. It may take me several months and that's ok if it does, I'm happy and living in moderation and not condemnation. There are a few on here from time to time that want to condem choices others make. In my opinion for whatever its worth, if we are too severe or strict with ourselves I think we set ourselves up for failure. I'll probably get some non complimenatary responses to this post and if I do, so be it.

I had surgery on 2/27. Still on full liquids. I've had barely any pain or issues since I was released from the hospital. Haven't even touched the pain meds. I've sort of cheated a few times and tried things I shouldn't yet, but I've been very cautious about it. Everything has been tolerated perfectly. I actually have to keep reminding myself that I did have surgery because I feel so good. I know it's a good thing to feel good, but I'm scared at some point in going to 'forget' and pay the price. Thats one of the reasons I'm still staying with my bf, so I have a back up to watch me if I do something wrong lol. Is it weird this soon out to be feeling this good? I feel like I could've been on soft foods for several days already. Even the Dr at my first post op appointment this past Thursday seemed surprised that I was doing this well. Not that I'm complaining that I feel so good, but it doesn't seem right to be feeling this normal so soon.

Michele you gave some really good advice that I even needed to hear. I am having my surgery in 3 days March 11th and I really needed to hear your statements. I am with you this surgery is giving us a second chance on a healthy life and it is up to each one of us to stay on course. We are giving our stomachs a chance to re-boot so to speak and like a new born baby we need to keep ourselves on Water, Protein Drinks and Soup broth for so long then move onto purreed foods like toddler food and back to solid food in time. I wish everyone great success and we can do this together. Best wishes to all of you. Cheryl

A big motivator for me are the horror stories of complications people have because they didn't follow doctor's orders. Michele is right the risk is DEATH!!! Death is final and it's definitely not worth pizza. I feel your pain. I LOVE pizza and lived on it before surgery. Now I'm not eating it not only because it's an unhealthy choice but also because my doctor told me how it could tear a hole in my pouch and the consequences are deadly. I don't think surgery was a mistake for you but perhaps you weren't ready mentally. That doesn't mean all hope is lost. Read some self help books about eating, see a counselor, pray about it and come on this site for support. We are all going through it with you and will tell you the truth even when it hurts because we want you to succeed and live a longer happier life. God bless you. I will be praying for you. We can all get through this together.

I hate to be brutally honest, but pizza, wings, and that are not allowed for a reason. Tthis early out they can kill you . Please stick to your plan. Complications are not pretty. There are some on here that are on feeding tubes from complications. Take the steps your doctor gave you and you will be satisfied. I am 5 months out and cant even eat the foods you are eating. Also if you break the horses back, he will never get up to speed. You wont lose if you keep having sodium and fat as a staple. Concentrate on Water and shakes, if you are still hungry call your surgeon or nutritionist for ideas. Your stomach is like a brabd new baby in every way. You start off feeding it formula. Noone gives a brand new baby pizza and wings. Then you progress. The healthier foids you give yourself the more you will become the woman you want.to be. Be kind to your baby belly. Think about it like that when it cries for food. Give that baby what it needs. Not what everyone else is having.

Don't worry about the scale bc right now you will stop Water weight and inches off , no one can tell you precisely how long bc everyone is different . I lost 22 lbs while at the hospital post op, I had gb 1-21-13 weighed 368 and now I'm 329 and a month and 11 days post op .... Just focus on getting better and the weight will drop off on its own ..... You can do it stay positive and keep moving around so gas pain and the incision site will take time to heal so just take one step at a time
