  1. Hi I am having my "bat wings" removed Oct 14th, and I am excited and scared! Would love to hear from anyone who has had this done!! I am supposed to get a full body lift Jan 31st BUT I have gained some weight during my vacation(a cruise) and I am so mad that I did that. Don't know if I should do the body lift now. What if I had already had it and gained this weight! Thanks for listening can't wait to hear from everyone! Ann
  2. Gee Momster I am so sorry to hear that it's not working for you. Something is wrong, how many fills have you had? maybe you should see a new Bariatric Dr. and have an endoscopy or an upper GI to seehow the band looks and how big the pouch is? Do drink carbonated beverages? Do not just give in to the Dr saying thats how it works becuase thats NOT true. IF your band was working you would not able to eat all you want of what ever you want. Please go see a different dr! It does work when it's right, please let me know how you make out! Best wishes!
  3. Hi Ericka, My BMI was over 65 and my Dr wouldn't touch me unless I was under 60. I went on Protien shakes 3 times a day and lost 41 pounds in 3 months so I could have the surgery. I can't tell how happy I am now!! The band is one of the best things that ever happened to me! I got the shakes from a Nutritionist, but you can buy them online too. They are called VHP shakes (Very High Protien) They have 35gm or protien so you don't feel hungry. You can do it!! I never thought I would be under 300 pounds and never in my dreams under 200 pounds! I wore a size 32 to my sons wedding 3 yrs ago 3 weeks ago I wore a 14 to my daughters and I looked BEAUTIFUL! I felt like a princess that day. It is worth every thing in the world to me!! Good Luck!
  4. First it is wonderful that you lost 100 pounds! Think how you felt at 329! I sure remember and it was not fun! You have to remember the band is only a tool YOU have to control your intake of sweets. Have sugar free candies and ice cream, or diet juice or soda. There are things out there that are sweet and not near as fattening. You can do it and the first 100 you lost is proof, it's a tool and YOU have to use it right! Good Luck!
  5. Yes it slows down BUT it does keep going down! I only lose about 2-3 pounds a month but thats ok as long as I am loosing! Good Luck!
  6. Thank you all very much she is going to see Dr. Geiss June 9th. I wish I could switch my Dr. But Dr. Geiss will not take people who are already banded.
  7. Hi Kiki, 11 pounds the first week is VERy good. Don't worry it does slow down. I have had MANY slow times. Some months I have lost nothing, on average I lose about 2-4 pounds a month. It is slow but as long as it's down I am happy. I know why it is slow I don't exercise and many days I don't make the right food choices, but I love my band and feel great! Keep in touch and let me know how your doing! Welcome to the Band world!
  8. Hi, I have my band but not happy with my Dr. My friend is looking to get a band but needs to find a Dr here in NY on Long Island. Anyone on LI that is happy with their Dr? Thanks,
  9. WTG! CONGRATS to you! Yes it is a wonderful feeling! I just wish I had you exercise spirit! I hate it and never do it. I would be losing a lot faster if I did, and be in better shape as well. The sitting on charis thing was a BIG one for me! How nice to not worry if it would break!
  10. Hi Ky, My goodness I will say they sure didn't protect you! Holy Cow 45 mins! That is just awful! You WILL hit the sweet spot, just give it time. When can they give you a fill? you are down 95 pounds already! Thats a HUGE step!!!! I sure hope your wrist and everything else feel better real soon!!!!!!!!!! Best Wishes!!xoxo
  11. Hi Ky, Glad to hear from you. I was wondering how you were doing. Sorry to hear you are going through all this. Did they catch the person that did this to you? I KNOW you will do well and I and hoping you will be feeling much better VERY soon! Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing! Best Wishes,
  12. Hi Cerrin, Phil has a lot of good points! Are you able to eat that much in one sitting? In the morning I am lucky if I can get 3/4 of an egg down. I eat about a half of a 6 oz yogurt and maybe a slice of cheese later on. I get full pretty fast most times. Once in a while which I don't understand I can eat a good amount(for me at least) The other night I went out to dinner and I was sitting there watching people around me eat big bites and eat bread and all kinds of stuff and I was having a "woe is me" moment. When that happens I remind myself how misrable I was, and how I could bearly walk long enough to even go shopping. The probelm for me is I forget where I was and how far I have come! You can do this one day at a time one step at a time. Do you drink enough liquids? When you feel hurgry maybe you are just thirsty. Like Phil said NEVER drink liquids during dinner and not for at least an hour after you eat, and NEVER have carbonated beverages! Good Luck!
  13. Abbie, What kind of a boss do you have! That is aweful! Who is he to make fun of you! God that makes me so mad, how dare he! It's bad enough what we have to deal with from strangers staring and laughing, but your boss! Is there nothing you can do legally about that!? I can tell you there IS a light at the end of the tunnel! In 25 days you will get to start your new life! I now can go out and I am just a reg. over weight person now lol. No more stares and laughs. If I could eat at a buffet no one would laugh & stare at me like I was going to eat the whole buffet, lol but who needs the buffet! You will do fine just wait and see! I put on a bathing suit with some shorts and I went to an indoor pool early in the day with all the other folk, and I didn't carfe what anyone thought I just walked and walked. You can do it too!!!! Best wishes!
  14. The good thing is they can fix it and will and you will be able to go back to losing this weight! Try not to be nervous everything will be fine! Best Wishes!
  15. Hummm that's interesting. Makes me feel worse because I am very bad about exercising and my thighs are sagging but my arms are the worst part. I now have bat wings! I must say I thought the skin would be worse then it is but I still have a ways to go. These last 50 pounds will be the toughest for sure. It is so very slow now but thats ok, slow but sure! Best Wishes
  16. Hi Momster, Glad to hear you are doing so well!! I too love that show, I wish I could exercise like they do. This season they finally had big women and I am dying to see how they look at the end! Especilly there skin on the arms and such. oops boss is back have to run!
  17. hey momster, How are you feeling? I remember for me it took about 2 weeks before for I felt pretty much back to myself. It took me a while before I could sleep on my port side. Sounds like you are doing very well, I am glad to hear it! Now that the weather is starting to get nice out I AM going to start walking! I so need to exercise that is my one huge down fall! Best Wishes
  18. Hey Bev. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble. I gained 7 pounds and I knew it was because I was able to eat way more then I should. I also was eating more knowing I was going to go for a fill. The fill was great becasue I lost the 7 pounds and 6 more! So go get the fill! Hang in there you just need the fill to help you out. I am worried becuase I have a 10 cc band BUT the Dr said t only holds 4 cc's and I am at 3. She said they have never had a person who needed a fill and there was no room left to fill. I sure hope I am not the first! Anyway hang in there get your fill! and start writing down what you are eating. You can do this! Best Wishes!
  19. I was banded in Nov. and didn't start the pool until Jan. I went 3 times a week. I did a Water arobics class which was 45 mins. Then I walk jogged and swam for another hour or hour and a half. It was great. I have not been able to go beacuse of my job now but I exercise with my wii fit a few times a week. I need to do more and I would be loosing a lot faster. Exercise is not my strong point, but it makes a huge difference when you do! I also walk a few times a week. The waiting for the last few days was the worst part, so just hang in there and before you know it it will be over! Good luck!
  20. Momster, I remember all too well how scared I was the few days right before the surgery. Some may not have been but I was, but you know what it was great. Not near as bad as I thought it would be and I would do it over again in a heart beat! Your plan sounds great, I tell you the pool is the way to go if you have bad knees which I do. Again I went early morning with the seinors and wore long shorts with my bathing suit but it doesnt matter once your in the Water who cares! You go! Good luck I will be thinking about you, let me know how your surgery goes! Best wishes!
  21. Hi Momster, I do understand I am 5'1" and I weighed 358. I was Banded in Nov '07 and by Jan. '08 I knew I needed to exercise so I joined an indoor pool. I went early in the morning when there were only elderly people there and I walked and jogged and swam for 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours 3 times a week. I wore a bathing suit the apron kind with knee lenght shorts underneth, and once your in the Water no one can see you anyway. It was the best thing I did for myself! I have not been to the pool since Nov becuase I work full time now, but I got the Wii Fit for Christmas and I LOVE it! You can do it if I can! Good luck with your surgery, it's one of the best things I did in my life for sure! Good Luck!
  22. Hi Maziemommy aka Kimberly, WOW 200 pounds in a year and a half! WTG! I am down 139 I was banded Nov.07. Do you exercise? I must admit I don't. I know it's bad and I need to. I am really going to try and be better about it. How hard was it to get to yout goal? I hardly lose a pound a week BUT I will take it as long as it is down! I am going for a fill Jan 14th, I have not had one since June. I know that will help too. What do you eat on an average day? Thanks!
  23. Hi daqui26, The band is a WONDERFUL tool! I was nervous too, but try not to be everything will be fine. I LOVE my band! The weight comes off faster in the begining and then levels off to maybe a pound a week, at least for me. I can pretty much eat anything IF I cut it up tiny and eat SLOWLY. The best is you will only want a tiny bit and you're full! My BMI was 66 I am only 5'2". My Dr would not touch me until I got my BMI below 60 so I went on a liquid diet for 3 months. This has been a great journey for me so far, I can't wait to get under 200 pounds! The best part is I KNOW I will an so will you! Good luck on your surgery and keep in touch!
  24. Hey Sue, WTG keep up the great work! Trust me it does come off a lot slower as you go along BUT it does come off! I LOVE my band and yes it's a very slow lose BUT it's better then a gain! Good Luck to you!
  25. Hi, Good luck on getting your date! Can I ask what exercises you do. That is one area that I have not been very good at, I used to go to an indoor pol last winter and walk run and swim for at least 4 hours a week but once the summer came I got away from going and just can't seem to find the time to go anymore. I know just an excuse, but I just dont like going anymore. Thanks!
