I'm sure you were on IV fluids at hospital plus swelling plus bandages and possibly drains. Just wait and don't stress.

I am just over 6 weeks out. My main Protein source is still a Protein Drink. I personally am scared of food so good for u for trying food.
But I always read if a stall increase protein and go back to basics. Try liquid only for a few days and see if that helps. I was also told that even at 6 weeks out I should be at about 600-700 calories a day. And start to measure ur self!!!! Weeks that I only loose a few pounds I see my inches change and that helps.
I personally haven't dropped many pant sizes, although I'm at a total loss of 67lbs. By belly is still to big.
Look for NSV too. Like can you tie your shoes better or are you walking better. Little things that don't always show on the scale.
    Good luck to you!!!

mommywifeandfat got a reaction from BBdoodle in It's for real this time...for myself, for my kids, for my life
Hi April. I too am 30. Been with my husband 14 years this September and have a 3 year old. I looked into the surgery 6 years ago, didn't like it. Thought about it a few years ago but the thought of not having a baby for over a year after put me off again. Finally last year was all I could take. My dog died last January after being by my side for 14 years. My life was him. Especially the last several years as I am a stay at home mom, an he was sick. So I took care of him as u would a child. His death sent me in a deep depression. I mean I didn't care about anything. I had to force myself to smile or laugh at my daughter. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and possible lupus. I have high blood pressure. The list goes on. I finally decided it was time for this!!
My process started oct 2, 2012. I weighed 367lbs. Between then and surgery date which was Jan 14th I lost 38lbs. Since surgery I have lost another 30. I am 5.5weeks out. I regretted my decision my very first night home bc after over a 2 hr drive I was in horrible pain. I have never regretted my decision.
I am smaller than I have been since my wedding. Day o surgery was my last blood pressure meds, and after taking lortab for only 3 days after surgery I haven't taken a pain pill since. I was taking 2-4 a day before surgery for horrible pains.
Here is my personal key advice: when you read sip sip sip, walk walk walk. Listen!! I was up several hours after surgery and pacing the halls. I came home day after surgery. The next day I was walking a mile... Slow. Don't stop walking! And try to get back to normal as fast as u can. Like don't hide in bed. I was doing dishes and making food for the family. I wasn't lifting or straining. I went shopping and took my daughter to school.
I rested for sure and was slower than normal. But force that liquid down! Force it!! Get ur Protein in right from day 2. It helps soooo much.
    Good luck to you!!!

I read the posts of what people eat and think damn!! Then I remind myself that those foods put me here to begin with and not to be jealous of them bc maybe they won't last or maybe they have other issues.
As for me... I am 5.5 weeks post op. I am terrified to cheat!! I stick to what my dr says. The worst thing I have ate was pretzels. I am allowed saltines, so I figured if I chewed pretzels well it was the same texture. Now, it didn't hurt but I learned I can't do that. It was old habits. Instead of eating the bag... I threw them away. Was that cheating, no way!
I've been part of a few support group boards and I do agree that this board is not always supportive. But everyone has there own way for support and u just need to find those few ppl who are like u and will support u. I personally have 2 awesome friends I met here that provide daily support and encouragement!! Hang in there!!

Many of us struggled with weight all our lives. Many of us have failed numerous diets numerous times. We've finally broke down and got the surgery and then see the scale not budge. We automatically think to ourselves "oh my god, am I going to fail at this too?" And then we panic and feel defeated. It's a natural instinctive feeling for those who have struggled through the years. We start to think irrationally and wonder if we'll ever succeed. This is why we upset ourselves with stalls.

I am 3 weeks and a few days post op. I just started making my Protein Shakes in my bullet. The frothy makes it even better to me!!! It's creamy like a milkshake. Mmmm
I've only used it to purée canned Soups, but the texture of that didn't go over well with me. So I use it for Protein Drinks.< /p>

I wasn't worried about the pain, the puking, anything. I was ready for it all. I was terrified of leaving my daughter at my dads the day of surgery and never seeing her again. I was terrified! It's normal I think. I woke up from surgery and I fought my ass off to get home to her as soon as possible (less than 24hrs after surgery I was home). I'm 2 weeks post op today and have had a seriously smooth ride. I've lost 21lbs since surgery almost 18in over all. And I was out and about slowly but out with my daughter the day after I came home.
I hope this find you coming up for surgery a little less overwhelmed and frightened.

Do you have any specific suggestions for how you handled introducing different things to "the pouch".
I am so excited to get off my meds! Which BTW am terrified to take since surgery.
