  1. Hey vince, Barrie's not so far!!! Would love to see you there. We can savour a bowl of soup.....mmmmmm.:hungry: When do you go for your first fill??
  2. Too, bad, Vince. Would love to meet you there. When is your first fill? Mine is Monday, August 6 @1:30. See you there????
  3. JetlagJane: You give me hope that I will get some energy back. I AM WIPED OUT!! but I used to powerwalk and actually did a half-marathon before I got so heavy my feet hurt too much to walk. Now, I can't wait to start walking again, if I ever get the energy back. Banded July 5,2007 Dr Yau @TLBC
  4. Sounds great! You can be the navigator, as I was born lacking a sense of direction! Are you in the telephone book? By the way, is anyone having problems with fatigue and weakness?? I'm exhausted, and break out in a cold sweat every time I expend any energy at all. I realize part of this is from not having eaten solids in 4 weeks (I'm on Day 2 of Full Fluids). But, I'm REALLY exhausted, despite sleeping well. Any suggestions?? I have to get back to work.
  5. So Sorry we won't get to see you, but best of luck on your port move. Maybe we can organize another one for August????
  6. Vince: Be there or be square!!!! (Yes, I'll be there!)
  7. Peaches : Welcome, welcome. Don't worry we all go through the "windy" stage, .......just let "er rip- You'll feel better.
  8. Vince: I don't remember a thing about the room either. The nurse was young, but okay. I'm starting full fluids today- had a medgenics Protein drink this morning (yuch) but am so looking forward to soup-NO MORE BROTH!! See you at the July Luncheon??
  9. Hi,Marcar: Take a look at Donna D's posting " July Luncheon". I live in the Bloor?Spadina area, If anyone needs a lift .
  10. Thanks, Donna. Looking forward to seeing some new bander friends there!
  11. Hi! I was banded the day before you by Dr. Yau. I was really rough for the first 3 days. Walking around the house, drinking water and juices and Endura, and especially taking Gas-X were all of some help. I had had laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder) and bounced back really easily, and expected the same with this, but I am taking much longer and having more pain and bloating than that time. But cheer up- each day gets easier and better- Just think, soon you will be on to full fluids!!!!
  12. Having just been done on July 5th, I can certainly see it because of the massive bruise. I can feel it too, especially when I lay down. It's just above the waistline on the left. Consider it a badge of honour!!
  13. Vince: So, how are you doing? Did you have to stay overnight ? How are you doing on clear fluids (mmmmm)?
  14. Hi,Vince, Susan and Marcar(?) : Thanks for the warm welcome! Vince, I think I may have met you in the pre-op nutrition meeting. If I'm right, you were a riot! Susan, I was going to go back to work on Tuesday (Day 5) but just didn't have the energy, and was still pretty sore, so I decided to take a full week off, and will return on Monday. On the other hand, lots of paperwork to do at home. Is anyone going to the lunch in Mississauga? Where and when is it??
  15. Hi! I'm Lisa. Had my banding at TLBC -Dr. Yau- on July 5th, 2007. I'm 55 yr. old . Doing okay on clear fluids and soon will start full fluids. I have about 100 lbs. to lose. Like "Green" , I live really close to TLBC, so, no regrets about the choice to go there. Other than worrying about gaining back weight already lost on the pre- and post-oop diet, I'm so far feeling strong- although that is probably much easier before you actually have to start eating solid, real food. So, hello to all Toronto, Ontario, and elsewhere banders!! By the way, I couldn't find the date and location of the Mississauga get-to-gether. I'd like to go ( and eat soup!).
  16. What a jerk - although you're right and he probably knew nothing about the procedure. Were you banded at TLBC ? They said no laxatives, but I had always had to use them before. I think you're right. Can't wait to start full fluids. I've lost a lot of weight on the pre-op diet and also the post -op clear fluids this week-about 25 lbs. Do you think this will all come back when I start eating solids again? I'm enjoying seeing my toes again...
  17. Serisla: Yes it could be an infection, of the band, bladder or other. See your doctor!!!
  18. Hi, Susan: (aka shayna punim) Were you always told " such a shayna punim" during your plump teenage years?? Me, too. But we always knew what the unspoken end of the sentence was. Anyhow, you probably do have a beautiful face, and now the rest of you will match!
  19. Joan and Gibby: Thank you both for your helpful suggestions. My next purchase may be a juicer! I've decided to just not worry about the "no BM situation" until I'm finished with clear fluids. I'm feeling better each day, and will get back to work tomorrow or Thursday. Yes, Joan the port area still hurts a bit, and is really the area of maximal bruising...but this too shall pass! :whoo::whoo:
  20. Thanks Jamie, Susan and all: I feel very glad that I finally made a GOOD choice for myself, after making so many bad ones, especially concerning food. I went on the pre-op diet for almost 3 weeks, and, probably as a reflection of how much I was eating before, lost 21 lbs. Since the surgery on July 5th, I've neither lost nor gained. I sometimes fantasize about food ( hamburgers, steaks, guacomole) , but I'm not hungry. Mostly, I'm feeling nervous about getting back to eating again.I think I'm afraid I'll gain back the weight I've lost as soon as I start eating.
  21. hi! Actually it's the NOT belching etc. that's the problem. I feel like a balloon. No BM's either but I guess that's not surprising since I'm still on clear fluids. Should I be adding Benefibre to my fluids?
  22. Thank you so much Susan. It's nice to know there are others out there. Maybe we'll bump into each other at a meeting or "fill". I'm no techno wiz- how do I find other Canadians, Torontonians???
  23. The day you wrote your letter, I had my surgery. It sounds like you have done the research, have the family support and are ready to make the next step. I wish you the best, and think you have made a good decision.
  24. Hello to all. I was banded July 5,2007. First day was a blur- lots of pain, nausea and bloating. Today is my 4th post-op day, and things have gotten better. Still lots of bruising and some bloating (Praise be to the creators of Gas-X!) but little pain. Still on clear fluids for seven days. I am so glad I did this. I'm a bit nervous (that I'll be the one person to NOT lose weight after being banded) but the journey has started..... Any other Ontario folks out there??:clap2::clap2::whoo::whoo::clap2::clap2:
