moving your port site
So, Lizzie, mine was also flipped, so Nancy had to go in sideways for fills. Anyhow, it stuck out, and showed through sweaters, and I really wanted it further down in my groin, so my hip bone could hide it. I just talked to Dr. Yau, and explained what I had in mind and he was fine with it. Surgery was Friday, went to sleep, woke up with a sore tummy and the port where I should have asked for it to go in the first place, but didn't do my research fully enough at the time, I guess.

Doddie: That's terrible. Why didn't they have you in for surgery that day? I can't believe that they'd have you travel so far and assume it was just for a fill. Did you talk to Dr. Yau directly? He should know when things screw up this badly. Sorry to hear about your aggravation.

Thanks, donna d. and kwalla. I had my surgery yesterday by Dr. Yau, and it went fine. A bit sore today, but couldn't resist getting up and out, meeting my friend for a coffee- it's beautiful outside today! Anyhow, it was moved to my left groin. It's a bit swollen today, but I'm sure I'll be glad I did it. Donna, please keep plugging along, try to get some exercise in, and I know you will lose, slowly but surely. And Kwalla, write again or pm me, once the time comes for you to make your decision and I'll try to answer any questions you may have.

TLBC Bandsters!
Rose, you are such a doll, beautiful and caring. I understand your anger and frustration at your parents for what you see as their self-created problems. We who have struggled with our weight surely can see how one can get to that place. I know that my dad's sudden death last Dec. was completely due to his horrible habits-- he was a compulsive eater, was too heavy to exercise, and refused to use his CPAP machine for his sleep apnea. But over time I got over the anger, as he had early Altzheimer's. He just couldn't help himself. There was nothing we could do that would or could change his bad choices, or that he could do. I wish that all my talks, arguments and discussions with him could have helped him to change his ways, but he just wasn't capable of making better choices. I miss him tremendously, loved him dearly and accept that he did his best I think your parents are a bit like that. They come from a different place and time. At this point, you are unlikely to change their lifetime of bad choices. You kind of just have to love them and treasure what time you have with them. So sorry you are having such a tough time right now. It's to your credit that you haven't gained weight!

Thanks, Doddie. And to Donna D.: So where did you get moved to exactly? Does it stick out? Can you wear a bathing suit without it showing?? Inquiring minds want to know:rolleyes2::rolleyes2:

moving your port site
For anyone out there who has had their port site moved (in particular, by Dr. Yau) how has it worked out for you?? Mine is just left-of-centre upper abdomen, is flipped on it's side, and sticks out like a third boob! So I'm going to get it moved down to the groin area. Please let me know if you have had this done and how it has worked out for you. I'm a bit nervous...:tt2:

Wow!! You are a true inspiration. You look great, and, moreover, you look healthy. Congratulations.

Losing Hair...wow!
Hi. I found out that the reason for my hair loss (and I was losing it by the handful!), was that I was on too high a dose of Synthroid (for hypothyroidism) after losing weight. Once I slowly dropped my dose down, the hair loss stopped. So think about that if you are hypothyroid- you may need to get your dose lowered.

So, what's wrong with me???
July 5, 2007. Some days are better than others, you will find. I've gained 4 lbs. and don't have the heart to change my banner. Sometimes even we "seasoned veterans" backslide a bit. But honestly, Tanya, the general course is downward, and even with the tough times, you will not regret having this done. :clap2:

So, what's wrong with me???
Tanya, don't fret. Everyone is different . Most of us tend to feel a bit tight in the morning. It's not so bad- Protein shake instead of Breakfast does the trick. I felt a bit restricted after my surgery, but before the first fill. Also, it has required very little Fluid in my band to restrict me- only 2.5 cc in a 10 cc band. But as I said, every person, and every band, is different. Know that you have done a really good thing for yourself. Your journey as a bandster has just begun. Just obey the Band Rules... you'll do fine.

Tlbc Bash
Was actually hoping to meet you there Loriely. There were about 150 people there. People looked super, and it was friendly, slightly drunken, and fun. Driving was a bit rough. It was really nice to match faces with site names-- eg. finally got to meet the Yodas!

So, what's wrong with me???
If this is normal, it's a bit of a drag. For example, if I eat , or try to eat, anything at all for lunch, and no matter how slowly and how much I chew, I start burping and burping, plus or minus PB"ing, and that is every day. It's true, I love my weight loss, but this is embarassing when I'm around other people!! Happens if I try to eat lunch at the office and people can hear me.

So, what's wrong with me???
Thanks, Heidi. Somehow, it is helpful to know you're not the only one. I was fearing it was a sign of slippage or erosion.:phanvan

Rants and Raves become NOT for newbies
Transformer: You have written succinctly and I so agree with what you have to say. (and God, I hope I haven't written in any dumb questions in my early days on site)

So, what's wrong with me???
Hi, all. Hope someone out there can give me an idea on how to handle this. I have an Inamed 10cc band, filled to 2.25 cc. Usually I am just fine at this fill level, tight in the am. but can eat reasonably the rest of the day, and losing weight slowly. But every once in awhile, I go through a period where everything I try to eat or drink gets stuck, and I go through PB's, belching and nausea. This lasts 1 to 4 days, then back to normal. Generally, I feel like I'm at the right fill for me (even though sometimes I probably am able to eat a bit too much!!), so why do I seem to intermittently be too tight? Today is one of these days, and even water seems to be not going down well.:help::help:
