  1. I was on this last year and it really helped. I am the same way. I can lose just very slowly. I found an over the counter one that seems to be helping me now. Good luck
  2. What triggered you to finally attend a seminar or call the doctor about wls? I've thought about it for years but never acted. I was in a meeting for work and they passed a article put being fat and why your are. I was new in my job and realized, again, I was the largest woman in the room and most obese person. I then realized I just could not do it on my own. I really did need help. Plus I turned 40 this year and vowed not to live the second half of my life like this and embarrassed everytime I get on a plane. Thoughts?!
  3. I was hoping for that but only can do a few in one day. I'll start calling for appointments this week.
  4. Oh I need to get as many in one day as I can. New at my job and very little time off. Need to save it!!
  5. I only have to do three month prep! I have two down already so Oct will be three. I have to start scheduling all the tests now. I'm so nervous. Never done any of these things before. Never even had a pain killer so this really scares me. But I am so excited!! Maybe November??
  6. Wow. Thanks for your post and sharing your photos. You have no idea how much they help us and the inspiration they give us. It keeps me moving ahead and not giving up on HOPE!! Thank you
  7. I know my dr told me you could crush them up in small bits of food or a bit of protein shake.
  8. That's awesome!!! You are so much closer now!!!
  9. Last year I wanted the band but then realized it was not going to be enough for me. I need the dumping and the fear of stretching the pouch out. Also not a fan of the whole port thing with the band. But this is me and everyone is different. I have a book called Skinny Jeans. I says that you can have great success with the band if you are a person that will follow the rules with no questions. Good luck in your decision.
  10. I'm worm2872. Imagine that! :-).
  11. Oh I'll tell him how much I lose but not the starting point. Lol. He's best friend has a creepy way of figuring out what I weigh. Ugh.
  12. I had my first appointment yesterday too!! Waiting on some final things about the insurance before I start to make my appointments. Good luck to you on the financing. Prayers!!!!
  13. HI!! Welcome aboard! It is a great place to be with good people and information so ask away! Congrats on your date!!!
  14. I had my first meeting with the surgeon yesterday and it went really well. I am seeing Dr. McCloskey at UPMC Magee in Pittsburgh. The staff has been nice and helpful but they are just swamped. They reviewed my medical history and took my height and weight. She went over the RNY process in detail. I found out I will have no preop liquid diet which is great since I have to work that whole time. I probably will do mostly liquid protein shakes and high protein and veggies the two weeks before anyway. It can't hurt. I was told I will have to get an upper GI, EKG, chest Xray, recent OB/GYN records and of course the psych and nutrition eval. She thinks there will be no issues with my surgery since I am pretty healthy, thank God! I do have slight high blood pressure which is a reason for me to get the surgery. Also, my dad died last year at 61 from heart failure. Scary! I am now waiting for them to call the insurance to verify if I need a three or six month diet plan. I was told three but they think Aetna is six. Fingers crossed. I have my second meeting tomorrow. I want this surgery before the end of the year. Yes, we all want it ASAP but Hubby and I have the time to take so it would be easiest. I have a few work things that will shoot most of Dec.so it may not happen but it sure would be nice. Once I have all the tests done and the timefram solidified maybe a date??? Dare to hope....
  15. WOW Peter Luger's. Sounds great! I could see my hubby having sushi. I think I will probably have a DQ blizzard with tons of crap in it. I hope I will never eat one again. It is exciting isn't it!!
  16. I'm so happy to hear this!! Thanks
  17. Wow you go girl!! Five kids. Wow :-). Your proof it can be done and you can eat! Thanks for the inspiration!!
  18. Welcome!! And congrats. Everyone is so great here. Tons to read and lots of help. It has been a blessing for me. Ask anything!!
  19. Yea so awesome!! We are here for you!!!
  20. Thanks all!! Still no answer. They are calling this week to see of three months is ok. But my dr said my dr counseling from last year may count or at least couldn't hurt. Ugh the waiting is killing me. :-)
  21. I find out today if the surgeon will let me do three months instead of six for preop. I'm so nervous. I would LOVE to have this by the end of the year. I have a plane trip next week and I'm tired of the anxiety and being the biggest person at my new job. But I blessed the insurance does not excluded it. If it is six it will be ok but I'll be afraid holiday weight gain. Fingers crossed!! Thanks.
