  1. Welcome an good luck! I see the surgeon on the 4th. I was told my insurance needs three months but the surgeon may require more. We shall see. :-). This is a great place for info and support!!!
  2. Prayers. The pain meds and food/ water are a hard combo. Hang in there!!
  3. Hang in there!!! It will come
  4. Great thanks!! It's weird how different it all is.
  5. I count boxes of butter in the store. It's pure fat. Pretty motivating when you see it. Congrats!!!!
  6. Good for all of you. It's hard work and you are suppose to love yourself. We have all Loathed ourselves for so long we can be a little concededs. congrats!
  7. I want the dumping syndrome as well. I want sweets to make me sick like bacon does now lol I gave up almost all pork I'm also hoping it helps with hunger. When I can control the hunger I can lose weight.
  8. I am 40 and shrunk almost an inch. I'm so ticked. My BMI is now higher which is scarier. Ugh
  9. Wow. You go!! You look great. :-)
  10. That's so great!! Good luck!!!!
  11. I do agree to be open and honest. However I'm not telling anyone. My hubby and BF is it. She knows because she has been through the surgery. My mom would freak out and others would tell people that I don't want to know. I am also new in my job so that's just to personal. I wish you the best of luck and if there are any doubters take them with you to an appointment. It helps reassure. :-).
  12. I know a lot depends on the surgeon and pre-existing conditions but I am curious to hear what medical tests you have been required to take to get cleared for surgery? Thanks!!
  13. Well that's UPMC for ya. Not making light but I'm at Magee as well with Dr McCloskey. They are notorious for confusion on the billing/ approval side but evidently you have WLS coverage or they won't have scheduled. They just need to review the documents. You should be just fine. Good luck to you!!! :-).
  14. I'm so sorry to hear that. It's so frustrating. Was this your first weigh in or was it after losing weight on the 3/6 month diet?? I am keeping my fingers for you!!
  15. Good for you! After my session yesterday wih the nutritionist, he said you have to be accountable and writing it down is the best way. I started today and it has kept me from snacking. Good luck!
  16. This is what works for me. Last year I was having the same issue and MoM did nothing. I know my BF also recommeded Colace (softner) and most Dr. say it is none harmful and you can take it with RNY. Just check with your Dr.
  17. OH Hope you feel better! I am sure you will be fine. :-)
  18. OH I know!! I am scared about the whole process. I have spoken with my insurance liason but you still never know if they will 'decide to approve'. Thanks so much for the encouragement!!
  19. OK.. It was interesting. It was a little odd. It was an open forum where you could come and go between a three hour window. I was told to be there at 4 PM and not sure really why. Anyway, they gave me a 1400 calorie diet and told me to exercise more. I briefly met with a nutritionist and he was very nice! Had my first weigh in. UGH 275! My highest was 298 last year when my dad passed. I got down to 231 around August and now back up to 275. Sigh... Well, this is why I am here. I am still a bit confused. When I spoke with my insurance (Aetna), they told me a three month monitoring period instead of the six. The information the hospital (UPMC PGH) provided me was only for a 6 month program. I will find out more when I have my appointment on Sept. 4 with the Dr. **fingers crossed for 3 month program** There were so many new people. There had to be 20+ attending their first meeting. However, I can say I didn't know if I should be happy so many people were there to get healthy and have a better life or sad that there were so many of us at this point in our lives. We all know how hard the struggles are and the agony we go through, especially in private. I hope those people there know where to get support. This board is a great place and I am so far ahead of some of the folks there as far as knowledge. So keep sharing. Even if there are not a lot of responses, people are READING what you say. THANK YOU!! I plan on sharing this site to my new 'friends'. :-)
  20. My BF had Dr Eid last year and everything went great with him as well.
  21. Thank you!! Your words are so true!
