New Here

Hi everyone! I'm new here, but I have been looking through singe of the threads here. I'm scheduled to have the RNY on Oct 1. Trying to get that date changed for personal reasons. I'm so nervous right now. My health insurance denied me the first time and I won my appeal. Any info you would like to share is welcome.

Glad you were able to change it. I haven't got to the nervous part yet. I am just on the impatient side still

You are moving right along. Don't be nervous, be happy and excited and think of all the good things to come., Yep there will be some pain and nerves but it will be worth it. Big Hugs to you,

Thanks Vicki for the encouragement,.and thank you all for the warm welcomes. I wish I could express my fears to my family but they would just tell me not to do it lol. I'm glad I found this forum.

You are right, your family is probably more scared then you are. So that makes it hard. The easy thing for them to say would be don't do it. But we are all here for you and will encourage you and you can vent and express yourself.

A wealth of information on this forum and always someone to reach out to,

I never looked at it as if they are scared. My mom said some mean things a few weeks ago, when I asked for Thanksgiving dinner in October. Maybe she said it to discourage me from having the surgery. I will have to remind myself they have some fears too.

They do have fears. They have probably heard more negative things or remember "back in the day" when so and so had this surgery and whatever negative thing happened or almost happened. So a lot of how they are is fear for you. They love you.

I hope you have a local support group that you can go to and meet others face to face that have had wls. That will help calm you too.

Hugs.

You are so right about that. My mother keeps bringing up people that had the surgery and wasn't successful at losing or keeping the weight off. I guess she is not being evil, lol. I know there is a support group so I think I'll call my nutritionist and find out the days and times. My manger at work has been great support. She had the lap band 5 years ago and looks great. Our insurance pays for the skin removal around the belly so she just had that done. Vicki you are great!!!
