Definitely "holier than thou" or in this case "superior to you" because they think if we just ate like they do we would be their size...which is WRONG!

I am so happy to see a few of the old crowd back on this site. I have to tell you folks that I am 6 months post op down 90 pounds and my nutriontist is not happy. She told me I should be down 100 pounds by now. I felt like crap when I left her office. Here I am thinking I am doing a great job and she goes and tells me this. Well, I had to call my surgeon's office today and asked my PA if she thought I should be down more. She told me I am on target and doing a great job getting this weight off of me. She said 90 pounds in 6 months if awesome and to keep on track and she bets that I should hit the 100 pound mark in 4 to 5 weeks from now. I am a little relieved to hear this and not sure why my nutrionist said what she said. The surgery is not easy but it has helped me get the weight off that I could not do on my own. I am glad I had the surgery even on days that I do not feel my best. Thanks for listening.

Well I over did it today. I went out to dinner and there really was not anything on the menu for me to eat so I checked out the Soup and ordered a crock of French Onion. I was so proud of myself but I logged into myfitnesspal and searched for French Onion soup and it was loaded with over 1,000mg of sodium. Well, I will NOT be getting on the scale tomorrow or even the next day. I have been drinking Water all night. I will never do that again and especially since I am at a stall. I have really screwed things up for myself. I am just going to bed and try all over again tomorrow. Talk to you all soon.

    Hello Everyone,
Finding out small bites of info every now and than. Iam still working on How to pay for surgery. I did find out when I am 65 medicare should cover it. I am 62 now.
I am going to find out if Oregon Blue Cross is something I can purchase and use it in Washington State for WLS.
I also have health problems so Mexico would not be a good option for me.
    I will just keep searching.
    Sincerily,

I might be the youngest...May 1964. I'm pre-op, planning to be sleeved in June. I'm excited & nervous, but I'm already thinking about my 50th birthday next year when I will be 11 months post-op. I want to Celebrate by doing something physical that would not be possible this year when I turn 49. I'm not sure what yet...maybe salsa lessons? Zip lining? I don't know...any other suggestions?

Congratulations to all of you. What a great testament you are to what is possible when you decide to take advantage of a great tool and make a commitment to yourself to use it to its full advantage.
My highest weight was 431, and I distinctly remember my doctor at the time saying something like, "well, we really need to do something about this." That may have been when I woke up and said, "hell, yes!"
I had my surgery Nov. 1, just 3 weeks ago. Prior to surgery, I lost 67 lbs, and another 5 since, for a total loss to date of 72 lbs. If anyone told me I was gonna lost 72 lbs. I would have been almost as shocked as if someone had told me I was gonna gain over 400 lbs.
Both pretty un-f**king believable. But it seems that once you make a commitment to go down this road, you follow a predestined path (med. supv'd diet, etc.) and next thing you know, you're dropping lbs.
Beginning with the pre-op liquid starvation diet and up till now ... the "mushies" soft food diet, it's all kinda hard, but somehow I manage to do it one day at a time. The days mount up and before I know it, I'm past the last difficult stage.
It's a little harder when you don't cook and have little creativity when it comes to putting a pureed meal together. In fact, I'm lucky if I can get in 300 calories a day now. A friend took pity on me and bought me a blender. She's coming over tomorrow to see what tasty?? treats she can whip up for me.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

Tell her to stick in in her ass. Seriously. I had one friend who I knew would not be supportive as she had been vocal about WLS in the past. (Naturally skinny chick had NO RIGHT to voice her opinion, IMO.)
Before telling her (and I only told her because I do love her, she is in my immediate close friend group and I had told everyone else), I let her know that I was sharing something with her that was important to me and that if she couldn't say anything supportive, I was kindly asking her to not say a damn thing at all.

    She complied.

I still have more to go in the gut but have lost a lot in my face, shoulders, arms, legs and waist. I feel great! I truly hope everyone else feels as great as I do! Here are before from Feb 2013 and today Nov 2013.

I took too much. I did not shower... Did not need hair dryer, Shampoo, etc. I left in the same clothes I came in. I wore hospital gown and socks the whole time. Two gowns if I needed one as a robe. I didn't read anything. All I needed: cell phone, tooth brush, paste, hair brush, ID insurance card, credit card, Cpap, glasses, and my pillow from home. Gas x is a god idea but thankfully I did not need. Slip on shoes to leave in are helpful.

Keep the faith, your long-term goal in perspective, and if weighing stresses you out, do not weigh. I am 2 weeks pre-op and my husband 4 weeks pre-op and he will not weigh. Please keep yourself busy at something because stressing will lead me right to hunger, so I am trying to chill out. I have been through a lot in my life, as all have, and I am as calm as ever in my life. When I start feeling agitated I will bring out the paint can and paint my dining room.

Drop that "friend" and move on !!!!
I discussed at length this choice with a couple of my real friends and every one of them was supportive of my decision. They were there before and have stepped up to assist in any way they can after as well. When we go out to a restaurant, they don't make me feel out of place because I can't eat a whole meal and we actually choose places that serve family style to we can all share and take what we want for portions ...
A true friend should support this choice of yours to use a tool to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Period!

You are also releasing estrogen which is stored in fat. There could be nothing wrong in your life and you would still feel down and depressed. Welcome to the female part of your body!
Bad news is it is normal and happens of all of us. Good news is...well the same really. Also that it goes away. I was worried I was going to be all emotional for weeks but I wasn't. It comes and goes now, and mostly goes.
Sorry to hear you're going through it nonetheless. And your boss is being an a/s--but you already know that.

You are right in the fact you will likely never eat a full steak again... That being said you are only 10 days out and what you are experiencing is very normal. I am now almost 7 months out and I can tell you it does get better. That full feeling will come with much less pain and discomfort. I get full now but it does not hurt at all.
As for your boss/best friend well I question if he truly was your best friend in the first place. A true friend would not judge you in this way in my opinion. Trust me there are plenty of folks you can be friends with that will not be like this!

    Right there with ya.
    Literally.
We have the same surgery date and doctor.
See you on the 12th at the OCC!
BTW, this is my 2nd time down. My wife had the surgery in May so I have been through all this with her. It's been great to have all that experience going into this. She knew all the shakes and Protein drinks that didn't taste bad, etc.
Even though I've been through it and know what to expect, I'm still a little anxious.
