  1. Sarahjane, do you already know what your preop diet will consist of?
  2. Bet you have surgery in February
  3. Lots of people on here have that. Hang in there hun. If it gets to be clear liquids coming out call dr. Stay hydrated.
  4. Thanks!! You can borrow mine. They're actually ages 22, soon to be 19, and 17. They'll give you practice in case you want some. Lol. Actually my oldest isn't here all the time Bc he works out of state for lengths at a time, middle child has his own place and Jolie is here when there is no school (4 day weekend for her so we'll probably binge-watch movies). Easy peasy.
  5. Do not reply
  6. Ever since having my gallbladder out everything goes through me and I have horrible dumping syndrome. Hoping it's at least a little better after surgery.
  7. Me too. I just keep thinking positive. Or trying to. Did you read my post "making me cry"? I've gotta definitely stay positive for my daughter now.
  8. Will I be giving myself blood thinner injections once I'm released? Will I have an abdominal binder? Will I have a catheter? How will you close my incisions? Staples, glue, steri strips, or a combination? (I asked this Bc I'm allergic to the adhesives on steri strips) Will I be given any pain and antibiotic prescriptions, and if so can I pick them up prior to surgery so I won't have to go and stand in line for three hrs and get them filled? If I'm given an antibiotic I always ask for a prescription of diflucan. I get yeast infections with antibiotics and I'll be prepared with a couple of diflucan tablets. How many nights is "standard" in the hospital?
  9. Lol. We can commiserate together!!
  10. What's crazy is I live all the way in Durant, down by the Red River but was born and raised in Paul's Valley. My friends have used Dr Nelson and loved her, she's at a Center of Excellence and I think it's worth the drive. My daughter plans to go to OU when she graduates next year. Boomer Sooner! April
  11. My mom was just like that. To a T. But very manipulative. If it had been my mom who'd blown up on me like yours did to you, she'd have done it just to switch tacks. That way I'd be the one calling her and visiting her and trying to make amends. "Oh, it's ok mom. I didn't mean it like that". In the end you're gonna have to just not answer the door.
  12. Your date is really close to mine. Do you have a preop diet? Mine starts feb 4. April
  13. Lots of people get the lower sodium options and do that with it
  14. Are you still on an antacid?
  15. When you were heavier you dispersed your weight differently. You walked with pressure on different areas than you do now. You will adapt a different gait when you walk as you lose weight, dispersing your weight differently. There are several threads about this that I've come across while researching.
  16. Not only are they irritant, but they are a diuretic. They make you go potty. Especially coffee. It's hard enough to get your fluids in to keep you from getting dehydrated without coffee. Add in coffee and you're going to the bathroom more. That's why a lot of people say coffee gives them diarrhea and if they are constipated they just drink a cup. Well, it's what my nut says anyway. I can't have it til I'm over 6 months out and am getting at least 64 ounces of liquid in.
  17. I took a very large dose of it three times a day for a yr and in that year alone I gained 75 pounds. I was sedentary due to an injury and the highlight of my day was what I'd be eating for dinner. Combine those two and WHAM!! I am so glad I was switched to Lyrica. It's a more efficient drug for pain in your nerves and I'm able to actually walk without a walker now because my spine isn't killing me as much. The best thing is that I'm not gaining. I'll never go back to Neurontin (gabapentin) again.
  18. Thank you and I don't know about the ticker. I only use the phone app and haven't even seen people's tickers. Have you used the search bar and typed "tickers" in there? If nobody answers on here you may need to search it out. April
  19. Yes, thank you, I'm super excited. I'm counting down the days April
  20. Thank you so much. I will keep her as updated as I can now. She is definitely a source of great inspiration. April
  21. What an awesome choice for you to make so young. I bet you can't wait to be able to put any obesity related health risks away so you can keep up with your kiddos. Keep us updated on your progress. We on the waiting bench look forward to reading y'all's wonderful progress reports. April
  22. Exactly what she said. And don't think you'll just remember the questions. Chances are you won't. My list included if I would have a drain, will I be injecting my own blood thinners after like some members do, etc.
  23. "No matter what anyone says to you or what comments any one makes I want you to know that I'm really proud of you for getting your stomach surgery. " I just received that in a text from my 17 year old daughter, Jolie. Yeah. It made me cry. All I'd told her was that I was gonna get a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and hopefully it would allow me to lose enough weight that some of the pressure on my spine would be eased. We used to go cross country 3 miles a day. Rain or shine. As a family. Then I had my injury, gained 150 pounds because I was sedentary and fed my emotions to "feel better". She's apparently watched several documentary type videos on the surgery and educated herself very well. I honestly thought the less she knew, the easier it would be on her. Not the case. I feel like I really dropped the ball by not going into greater detail with her on my surgery, but it's ok because she picked that ball up and dribbled it all the way to the basket by herself. Then she said there was one lady named Melissa who was so worried that after weightloss surgery her family would be judgmental, she was 600 pounds and had "only" lost 200. She thought they wouldn't tell much of a difference and be critical of her even getting the surgery. When her family first saw her the burst out in tears of joy. That was the first time they'd seen her able to even walk that far. She said "if Melissa can do this then so can you. You got this". February 18th is my day and she's right. I got this. April
