  1. Actually SOME insurance policies will take into consideration joint and bone issues. Especially with a letter from your PCP supporting the claim stating that WLS should help take pressure off those areas, etc. unsure about asthma.
  2. See, that's me. I'm the one who doesn't normally need a jacket when everyone else does because I'm always so hot. The last few days are the exception with this "polar vortex" across the country. But I'm hoping I cool down some. When I am sweaty or too hot I just feel gross and I don't want to feel that way about myself. Nobody does. I'm actually looking forward to finding my new "normal".
  3. Dang! And people say once you start dropping weight you start to get really cold all the time. Not so bad here in Oklahoma, but you're gonna be a Popsicle
  4. I'm packing by bags!!!
  5. True, but your records aren't property of the surgeon. You can request those at any time. The surgeon is being paid for all the services he/she provides.
  6. Ugh, I know it can be nerve-wracking. That waiting game. And it's so difficult to wait it out. Try and stay positive, I know it's hard when you're playing the waiting game, but try your best. Keep me updated, I'm pulling for ya
  7. I'm not getting the bypass, I'm getting VSG, but I have Medicare and I'm also bipolar along with generalized anxiety disorder. During my psych eval I just talked to the psych sort of like I would a friend. She wanted to just make sure that I'd been stable for at least a year. Also, since I'd been seeing my own psych who prescribes my meds, etc., she had me fax a letter asking less than 10 questions. She wanted short, complete answers to questions like what my diagnosis is, if I'm considered stable, etc. then my regular psych faxed it to her. Only thing is that it was my actual surgeon's office that required that letter. Not Medicare. Good luck with your surgery!! April
  8. Lots of luck to you, too!!! Looks like I'm in the wrong state. Lol
  9. Me too!! I have severe spinal stenosis and I'm so ready to take some of this pressure off my spine and hips. I've been on cloud 9 and smiling all the time since I just found out. I have to try really hard not to think about the IV, though. To me, that's the scary part. I know, weird. But I was told they can numb it. Maybe I won't pass smooth out this time. Lol Good luck! I know everything will go great!! April
  10. I've had severe GERD for years and my dr tried things like Pepcid and Prilosec, mainly because they are the less expensive brands. After trying them, and still no relief she put me on protonix twice daily. When I get my monthly statement of how much protonix would've cost me out of pocket had I not had insurance, it's around $235 a month.
  11. Awesome!!! Good luck!! Where are you having yours at?
  12. Thanks!!! I'm pretty excited. All except the "getting an IV" part. Lol
  13. Gotta go in there with a positive mindset. That's what is gonna get you through it. Be sure and talk to your anesthesiologist about your fears. Good luck tomorrow, I know you'll do great!!
  14. Thank you!! I actually almost went to Mexico for my surgery and then found out that my insurance would cover my surgery. Lots of knowledgable doctors there who have actually been doing the sleeve longer than most US doctors.
  15. Well I think it's freaking fantastic!!! Go you!!!
  16. Well I definitely want to wish you the very best of luck!! You'll have to keep us updated on everything when you're able to.
  17. It SEEMS like that much sometimes!! Lol
  18. Ok, maybe this is way too much TMI but what about when he... You know... I guess we have to spit it out because it may be too much at first?
  19. I'll be sleeved February 18 in Norman, Oklahoma by Dr Lana Nelson. I'm actually from Durant, OK but think my surgeon is worth the drive. Any other February 18 sleevers? April
  20. Ok. Just knowing they can numb it helps me get my head on straight.
  21. Miss Mac, that is freaking hilarious!!!!
  22. Thanks y'all. Thank goodness you can see my veins from across the room. I'm a 39 year old version of McButterpants' son!
  23. K, so I just got my surgery date today, February 18, and I feel so silly because right now the thought of the surgery doesn't freak me out. My sister, numerous friends, etc have had it. But the thought of getting an IV makes me dizzy. I have to force myself not to think of it. I tend to faint. I've had at least 10 for various reasons (surgeries and illnesses) and I think I've only stayed awake for 2. I know, I know. I'm a dork.
  24. My gallbladder was not in continual pain. It was intermittent.
  25. My surgery is February 18 in Norman, Oklahoma with dr Lana Nelson. Super excited.
