  1. I thought she looked great as well.
  2. I'm sort of leery because my boyfriend is a chef. Yeah.... I know.
  3. Ditto on all the above including the 3 months. Mine is closer to Atkins but with a protein shake for breakfast.
  4. Awesome!! I'll definitely be on the hunt. Thank you!!
  5. Yeah, but she never said the surgeon agreed.
  6. Wow, I hadn't even been told memory loss was a possibility.
  7. I'm gonna have to look into that because I'm a side sleeper. I have spinal stenosis and it's the least painful position.
  8. I have a deviated septum and breathe through my mouth, so I have to use a full face mask. My daughter said she looks forward to having "Bane" off Batman for a mom. Lol
  9. Well, my surgeon's office called and said that they received my sleep report. I was told I had severe sleep apnea. I guess I'm not too bright because I thought either you had it, or you didn't. I didn't realize there were levels of severity. I guess it makes sense, depending on how many times you stop breathing at night. I go and get my CPAP December 6, after my final pre-op appointment. I'm a little wary of trying to sleep with that on my face, as it was really weird and not too comfortable. However, it would be nice to use it and finally feel rested for once.
  10. Umm... You don't have to be "crazy" to see a psych or therapist. I found that your statement rubbed me wrong. People see them for numerous reasons and I don't think that people who have bipolar disorder, PTSD, food addiction, drug or alcohol addiction, etc are crazy. The psych evaluation is mainly to see if you have unrealistic expectations after surgery. To see if you think weightloss surgery is a "fix-all" in your life. To make certain you are knowledgable about the surgery, etc.
  11. My dr office has its own requirements. Even if I was self-pay, if I wanted to use them I'd still have the same requirements.
  12. Glad to hear you're doing better and are on the other side. My sister had her surgery in Denison, tx and the same thing happened to her. She got into recovery at around noon and finally got a room after 8pm!!! She was so frustrated and upset, but I can honestly say that the staff was amazing the entire time. Hang in there and keep up that walkin n sippin. April
  13. I had a stress test. It was the treadmill type. I think I lasted like 3 minutes before I was too out of breath and told them to stop. That is what they told me to do; tell them to stop when I'm too exhausted to go on. They want your heart rate to be at a certain rate for a couple of minutes to test how your heart responds to exercise. Even if you "do poorly" that can be one more reason to have the surgery. I'm fat. I get winded after a few minutes of exercise to the point I feel like I'm gonna pass out. This is something the surgery may possibly help me with.
  14. Mine was just a one-on-one talk. She had mailed me. Medical info type questionnaire previously and I forgot it, luckily I was early and filled one out. We sat and talked. That's it. She asked about my bipolar disorder, life, dealing with stresses. She mainly wanted to hear what I thought I'd get out of surgery. She asked about my expectations and then told me to have my regular psych fax her a simple letter stating my treatment plan for therapy after I'm sleeved. I don't think she did that with everyone, but only those already in therapy. Then she told me I was a great candidate.
  15. Omg, girl!! I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of that!! Keep your chin up and stay positive and you'll feel better before you know it.
  16. I hope I will look as great as you!!!!! You look amazing!!
  17. Yeah, if placed correctly the lapband isn't interfering with the fundus.
  18. I'm not certain that's true. My sister had the lap band (she's currently in recovery from a conversion to the sleeve as I type this) and lost 120+ pounds and still had her fundus until Monday. She started being cold at about 50 pounds lost, which was in the first year. That was 10 years ago. We are from Oklahoma. When it's 90 degrees she will finally wear a short sleeve shirt. She's always freezing. Always. I lost 65 pounds when I got a divorce in 08. I lost it rapidly, as the divorce was very rough and I hardly ate. Within a month of losing that much weight so fast I had to have my gall bladder removed. Plus I started to always be cold. I kept a hoodie or cardigan with me all the time. (Of course I packed that weight back on, plus some, which is why I'm getting sleeved). So I think it's weight loss in general.
  19. Sounds so much like me. But I would skip meals and then when I was hungry I'd over eat. It was usually me eating food that wasn't nutritious and late at night where there was no way of working those calories off. April
  20. This is what the OP says. And you tell her to ignore her nutritionist. She herself says she needs help. Geez
  21. My final nutrition appointment is December 6, then I meet back up with the surgeon to finalize everything and set my date.
  22. It is comical that you believe by posting such long diatribes you believe yourself an expert on nutrition and tell someone to ignore their nutritionist. My surgeon is at a Center of Excellence. My nutritionist is extremely intelligent and explains why I need to eat what I need to eat. In-depth. My THINKING was like many here. (I know I shouldn't eat this but I'll exercise tomorrow. I'll treat myself to this Bc ....... . I've skipped Breakfast and lunch so I'm now ravenous to the point I'll eat anything. I'm lonely so I'll pop in a DVD and snack. Etc. the list could go on and on because the majority of us are food addicts. Plain and simple.) So guess what, I can't trust my thinking when it comes to food, and until I can I'll follow my nutritionist and continue to see my therapist about my food issues. When I say they can fix my stomach I believe they do. They fix my stomach to hold less. To the point that, when I follow my nutritionist's plan for me to eat Proteins first, then veggies, followed by good carbs, I'll lose weight. Be as irresponsible with your advice-giving as you want, to whomever you wish. I just hope the OP doesn't follow your advice.
