Get another opinion. What's he saying... ALL people who get sleeved put their weight back on in 5 years? That's just stupid and wrong! MANY sleevers of ALL ages (band to sleeve converts included) take off all their weight and maintain just fine! It IS possible to fail at any WLS, but from the folks I know (banded and sleeved) the sleevers have MUCH BETTER long term results and half the complications!

Heh. Eharmony was unable to match me with a single person either. I ended up getting a refund back thru Apple since that's where I purchased the subscription. I have had some luck with Match and POF. Match definitely has higher quality. It's there with POF but you have to be willing to "weed thru a lot of duds to find a stud". And I've met "secret agent man" and most of the other losers you mention. Here's the deal... Online dating is a numbers game. In my experience you have to be willing to sweep 90% of the crap away to find the 10% that might be cool. And be willing to take none of it personally until you are in a serious relationship. They can be found meeting someone online if you have the patience. Anyway... hang in there and try to enjoy the ride!

So pre-op, the chorus was, "but you're not heavy enough for bariatric surgery", my response was always the same... Thank you! I'm very lucky to carry it "well", but my Dr's and the insurance company would disagree with you. They believe my health will be improved by achieving a normal BMI and a 90-100 pound weight loss. Turns out they were right! No more meds other than a PPI and I almost never have to go the the doctor anymore. I had been going about every 2-3 months for the treatment of asthma, high bp, high cholesterol and generally feeling like crap.
Today when I tell someone I've had WLS that didn't know me before, I typically get, "I can't believe YOU were ever fat". I guess I'll take that as a compliment. Still so strange to hear even at almost 2 years out.

Yep. 2 years out, drink carbonation regularly, (but not NEAR like I did pre-op) and I still have GREAT restriction. I can tolerate anything I like, just in very small quantities. When it comes to carbonation... slooowly. I can start on a Diet Rite at work in the afternoon and not finish it until some time after dinner! Bubbles fill me up. When I'm full, I can't eat! Win-Win!

I don't believe in giving the ebb and flow to weight loss following surgery a name. I think that gives it more power than it deserves. Follow your plan and DON'T focus on the scale! Focus on goals you can control... Your exercise and nutrition. Do that and the weight will come off and you won't need a name for the times your body is simply adjusting to weight loss.

Also, oddly enough, being able to do my OWN pedicure if I want!

I'm 5'6" and hang out around 145 pounds. I wear a size 4 jeans most of the time, (occasionally a 6), 28 in a Miss Me or other designer that sizes that way. I'm a size larger on top than on bottom and always have been so I'm about an 8 in a dress.

For me, Portion Control is exactly what I wanted and what I got with my sleeve. I tend to explain it to others in terms of, "my OFF-switch was broken and I got it fixed." I'm 2.5 years out and eat pretty much what I like when I want it, Protein first. I've maintained about a 90 pound loss since month 9. After about the first 9 months there wasn't much that didn't agree as long as I maintain small portions. Rice is one of the things that 'gets me' occasionally but I don't really consider it a loss. Spicy food doesn't bother. I don't drink with meals and don't miss it.
I drink alcohol. Not to excess but a few times per week. I THOUGHT I was okay with carbonation. Went back to diet soda after year or so. Drank it for 6 months in moderation until I realized was killing my stomach. Reflux returned and kind of burning (ulcers?). I was already taking 40mg of omeprazole 2xday. So I stopped the daily soda. Felt MUCH BETTER within about a week. Not that big a loss. Bai coconut drink makes a fine sub. You learn not to crave what makes you sick.

I'm a year and 10 months out and gained 5 outside my goal of 145 that I'd been maintaining for 1 year. I've returned to basics... journaling food and exercise, cranking up my exercise intensity, (I never stopped exercising, but let the intensity fall). Cut back on the alcohol and treats, etc and I'm finally back to the top end of goal. Now working on getting of 10 pounds to put me a bit below goal (still well withing normal BMI) and allow for some wiggle room. Cutting out as much processed crap as I can, trying to keep between 1000-1200 calories per day, exercising 5x per week, getting my 75+g of Protein every day. It's working, but it's slow. Fix my head and my relationship with food? Nope. It's still a fight. Every damn day.

Love the part about "feeding days" and "non-feeding days". This is my experience as well. There are days it feels like I've eaten as if there will be no food tomorrow, (that's a gross exaggeration, but that's how it FEELS sometimes). Other days, I just can't hold very much, but I'm approaching 2 years out and the restriction is definitely still there.

Chick fila regular or grilled nuggets 6 piece off the kids menu. Cheap, high Protein and even the fried option only has 200 calories! Firehouse lite menu turkey cranberry or green turkey sandwich (minus most of the bread by the time I'm done. I just can't hold it). Any Jimmy Johns unwich (love the BLT). Kids taco meal at Chipolte.

Some would call it crazy. I get up at 4:20am every work day (an hour earlier than I have to) so I can get in a stationary bike ride and watch an episode of whatever Netflix show I happen to be obsessed with at the time. After 2 years, it's a habit and it's rare that I break it unless I'm REALLY sick.

Dbags will be dbags. That said, I didn't have that problem when I was fat. It was like I was invisible to all people. I get looks, catcalls, whatever occasionally now. Not sure what these guys are thinking. "Hey maybe if I say something really offensive to this person, I can get lucky"? SMH.

I waited about 4 months. Had a Bloody Mary which was very tasty but HUGE! Took me all night to sip it down and it pretty much became dinner. Didn't bother me probably because I took it slowly and only had one over the course of several hours. Now 2.5 years out, I drink a few times per week, one or 2 working it into my weekly calorie limits. While I was losing I religiously recorded everything and worked it in as any "treat" while maintaining Protein and calories for the day. I look at it as just another treat I have to keep in balance now.
