  1. Yikes Phyl, that is beyond weird for this time of year... Now in MY backyard I still have one little clump of ICE still left to melt. Should be gone by tomorrow though. As the temp. today was 80F... WOW, I wore short sleeves to work instead of my uniform Scrubs, OMG my arms are lily white and pudgy but I didn't care... I've had enough of "menopausal" momets lately!!! LOL I got off work early today and took my Mom out for a walk (wheelchair ride) I brought my Jack Russell dog to visit her and the others in the Sr's Residance. My Mom didn't recognise my DOG!!! My Woody (dogs name) is 14 yrs old and my Mom just loved her to bits... Now she hasn't seen the dog in 8-10 months... but I was surprised at her memory lossl Mom did enjoy feeding her crackers and holding her leash on the walk. I was really glad that I'd thought to bring Woody with me... When you think about it my Dog and my Mom are both elderly.. Woody was so good, quiet and didn't even jump up on anybody unless they encouraged her to come up onto the couch. We are getting a consult with a Cardiac Specialist in the near future. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will be good news. Home alone tonight DH is out playing Guitar... so I thought I'd putz around on the computer a bit tonight and STAY OUT of trouble.
  2. Angel Bear; What a heart wrenching story! I am so glad you are FINE now... I agree that Dr. Yau is the best... no complaints from me either!
  3. Dear Karri, that is worth shedding a few tears over. It is a tremendous conquest. YOU are going to rub off on me if I keep coming here to read the inspirational stories. My fill is noticable now, I can feel a tad of restirction. Although I still need to work on better food choices... I did get some excersise today! I went outside and raked my back gardens. To get the oak leaves off. The ice is starting to melt away and the crocus's and hyacenths are just starting to poke their tiny heads up... YEAH! Spring is finally arriving. My Doggies were loving the sunshine too, and were bathing in the SUN when not chasing the rake and biting it and barking....:tt1: News on my Mom is a bit more positive today. Yesterday I spent the day fighting with her PCP (your term) who decided (All by herself) to cancel my Mothers Heart test to determine if she'd be a candidate for Angioplasty or Bypass surg. Anyways, misteriously 2 previous Nuclear Imaging tests were cancelled, with NO explanation to me or my Mother. I was so pissed you can't begin to know how mad I was. So I reamed the PCP out and told her my MOther wants EVERYTHING possible to be done to test her heart and then GET whatever treatment is out there so that she can enjoy a better quality of life. Currently, she is on oxygen 24/7 and can't walk (with her walker) anymore than 3 yards before she has to sit and rest. Who would want to settle for life like that? I had a heart to heart with my MOM and asked her if there was a 50/50 chance that these tests could kill you, but possibly make your life better what do you want to do. I'll fight for her to the death, but there's no point if she dosn't want to take the risks. Sorry to splieckt this all out here, but I've been just inside out with worry.
  4. I can totally understand yyour fear of being put to sleep. But it is safe. And the END justifies the means right? I think that its the idea that YOU have no control... ie you are PUT to sleep, you don't voluntarily drift off... and then SOMEONE else controls WHEN you wake up. I have had A Breast Reduction, Hysterectomy, 2 bladder repairs and 2 Lap band surgeries.... all we done under general Anesthetic... They also do EKG, chest xrays, blood work all preop to ensure you are healthy enough for surgery...but YOU already know that. Have you thought of hypnosis to deal with your fear? JMHO Good luck
  5. That is wonderful news! tO BE ABLE TO GET OFF MEDICATIONS :rolleyes2:
  6. just finished 12 oz of Pro drink.... myfirst for the day. Yesterday was pretty good... Pro shake a.m., tea, Pro Shake P.m. Tea, Coffee, Tea Chicken Breast/Carrots for supper.... a 1/4 cup pistachios, choc pudding
  7. Good job on the fill yesterday, 48 lbs is fantastic!!
  8. 2.5 miles, !!!! That is awesome, you are going to be so hot!!!!! (Um, well you ARE already) but after the TT just imagine! ROCK ON
  9. Good Morning Phyl, Your husband sounds too funny!! I had shakes yesterday, decaf and then my DH made soup for supper it smelled so good.... I broke down and had some canned soup too about 8 pm. It tasted so good, but today I am doing protein shakes... I just drank my first, it went down pretty well... didn't have any tightness. weird. I hope this is not a precursor of things to come... I am so skeptical now, having had so much trouble... I am almost afraid to HOPE (that this all works) I wanted the BAND so much in July, my head was in the right place then... Good luck today and keep me posted. There was another one of us that had a fill yesterday too??? How are YOU doing?
  10. Sheesh, what a day! I was up at 6 and in the car by 6:45 on my way to the Clinic for my 9:30 appt. I actually met up with the nurse on the way into the clinic. I was the first fill of the day, but she was still a little behind time wise and I was freeking cause I had to go directly from clinic to work...a 2 1/2 hrs drive away... I was late getting to work, but it all worked out as the Dr. took my patient for me & I just finished up the laser treatment at the end... I got 2 cc's put in but it was too much so had to go bak in and get 1 cc out.. So I have 6cc's in total.. My weight was horrible, I'm not even going to tell you ... You guys are all doing so well with your numbers and I am going to be a while catching up. Hopefully I'll have 20 lbs off by M of A trip...
  11. Wow Phyl, sounds like you are having a wonderful adventure!!! I love the Oregon landscape, I am so jealous... Oh by the way did I read back a while ago that your DH is coming to Mall of America in July??? Just asking as if other hubbies are going I "MAY" consider mentioning it to my DH, although he probably is already booked up with Band Gigs on weekends all thru the summer. Janet; Yes, it was a great little trip. It was so nice to get home today though and pick up my doggies!!! OMG I missed them so much, and I think they missed us too. I had my Spring Cleaning done professionally while we were away. (Surprised hubby) oh was it ever nice to walk in and see the place all clean and tidy.... It was expensive, but worth it. Off to Toronto in the a.m. for my 1st fill since Port Replacement surgery... I am hoping that this will work for me.... I'll letyou know more tomorrow night!
  12. Carol and Nicole: Congrats on finding us here... it is great to share lives, stories, jokes, advise... whatever comes up. (ooohh, bad pun) Surgery coming up soon, the waiting is the worst.. and then recovery is not bad at all... I've had more issues with Dental Surgery. You'll be glad you made the decision to journey into LapLand.
  13. Can I answer your questions?
  14. Hi Gang I've been away on a mini holiday with my DDH!!.. He took me to Niagra Falls!.. OMW it was so nice, a Marriot room with overlook of the Canadian Falls, we had a Jacuzzi tub and fireplace in our room. Couldn't have been nicer. Now, I didn't behave like a good bandster... Drank wine, liqueours.... yummm Gambled a 'wee' bit LOL.. heading home today. and bakc to work tomorrow. WOW, sounds like I've missed some news on here the past few days. Congrats on PS for BR... you'll be so happy with the results of that!!! Tummy Tucks are happening too??? I am so jealous of that!!! Catfish? Ya know I never thought about it, but it sounds like I should try it... its a very mild flavored fish ? Right Janet???? Lindaa! I am so sorry you are having issues with your night time muccous. It's not post sinus drip? Have you tried a nasal lavage with saline??? Just a suggestion... as my sinuses always act up and I wake in night with thick feeling too, but it has nothing to do with my band... as I had this issue long before banding.. I have nasal allergies or if the AIR in my bedroom is too dry then I get all plugged up too. It kinda drips down the back of your throut but ends up kinda gagging you... Sorry about being gross... but we gotta share info.. right???
  15. Have no fear, they look after their patients. I had my band in Mid July, had complications with my band holding fills.... Dr. Yau re-did my surgery Mar 28th, and now I am on my way again... They do all fills for life, and aftercare is bar none.
  16. Don't relatives just piss you off???? My DSister was very negative about me getting the band too. "What? You are getting another unnecessary surgery???" She was referring to my Breast Reduction, Bladder repair, Hysterectomy, Bladder repair and Oeferectomy... Yeah, I just LOVE going under the knife for no good reason Family can makeyou crazy if you let them... I don't tell my sister anything anymore, she just can't help herself from becoming a downer. You know that you need that tummy tuck, so go for it! 100# loss is a lot of hanging skin. Just wait to see how your sister agrees with you once she has HER surgery.
  17. Thanks for the compliment!!! I do enjoy trying NEW things. Hey, why don't we have a VEGETABLE challenge??? Everyone look up and try ONE new vegetable recipe and we'll post the results/likes/dislikes here on the board... might be fun eh??? Candice
  18. I just love that colour on you!!!! Save me those jeans o.k. I'll hopefully be into them by July and you'll be into smaller ones
  19. Quinoa; Is a Whole Grain of the ancient type. Full of good nutrician. CRITICAL, it must be rinsed VERY well with lots of cold water prior to cooking it... So get a fine wire strainer for this purpose. Then cook 2 to 1 ratio grain to water... add a titch of salt if you wish and bring to the boil and then turn down heat to lowest setting and cover with a lid.... cooks like rice but is much healthier for you... more protien, fibre and minerals. Personally, I don't care for it much, I still prefer rice when I'm gonna actually eat a carb... it did NOT get stuck on me.
  20. Ya, that would put me in a bad mood too. Family issues can really pull at your heart strings. And not always in a good way. Does he want you to buy out his share of the land? It might be a good way to be rid of him and his issues. Some people spend their whole lives not being responsible for Money, their careers, their relationships and THEN they try and make it YOUR problem.... don't let him affect you... You work hard and deserve only GOOD things. JMHO.
  21. Jackie; It sounds like you made some really healthy food choices!!! Considering the crumby restaurant. Phyl; You must be on your way home, I am sorry you feel badly about missing the funeral of your fine Aunt. Janet; You are not preachy!!! You always inspire us all... keep it up! You always speak from your BIG HEART and should never apologise for that.
  22. Just jumping on the Band Wagon with you.... All you girls get out your DONAR cards and fill them out. Keep in your wallet and let your families know of your wishes(as in case of death).. What a beautiful gift for the living... I have donated my whole body to science (if someone wants it for study)_ or part thereof... Brain, eyes, skin, tendons, Heart, Lungs(2 people benefit here!), Kidneys (2 lives are saved) Liver.... It is a miracle what the surgeons can do these days. Did you know that you can also be a LIVING donar and stay healthy???? Partial LIver donations are done as you liver can reconstruct part of its own tissue. You can live on one Kidney... Skin is a wonderful example too.. Be tested for Blood donation , You can give every three months and it is almost painless... Bone Marrow Donar can be done LIVE.... also You can donate just PLATLETS... We can all give the gift of life, now and in the future. Climbing back down now and going to work.
  23. Speaking of rooms, Lindaa have you booked a hotel room yet ? Are we still rooming together???? What was the price we settled on? Weird day today, I called my Lapband clinic to see if I could get my first fill. The sec. checked witht eh OR nurse the fill nurse was on the phone, and she said sure come at 1:45 so its a 2 1/2 hour drive to Toronto from where I live. But it was a nice day so I was excited!!! I get to the clinic and the fill nurse comes out into the waitng room. Oh, I can't fill you, you have to wait 2 wks from Surg. date.... if I give yu a fill today you could have band slipage and I won't be held responsible... I freaked!!!! So now 5 hours later in the car and a bag of peanut M & M's later... I am anesthetized... sh!t.
  24. Great news on the trainer!! Money well spent - Janet swears by hers!! :tt1:
