Linda; I am so sorry for Mindy... She's broken hearted Im sure.. But if that guy took her shopping for RINGS a year ago and still hadn't bought it>>>>well... she will be better off without him... he obviously had COMMITTMENT issues, better to find out now than later... ANd why was he manipulating his way into her apt.? that sounds fishy too.

Jorja, what specifically are you not getting that you wished you had a contract for? I'm dealing with Rosanne who has been fantastic and just want to make sure I nail these stones early on. Peaches, that's great to hear!! It's nice to hear someone who has done well with it/little complications!! This site is great but sometimes too much reading is a bad thing as you hear so many horror stories with the band from the surgery itself, after-effects, it's lack of working, horrible complications and so on. I'm super excited to get on this and get it working for me Can you FEEL the band inside you? Is the port uncomfortable once healed? I have this thing in my head the I'm going to bump something and it's going to kill with pain lol I read so many things about port flipping too and that made me nervous. I'm going in from the NWT so very little support...not even a fill doctor or nurse here yet!! Yes, its good to do all your research beforehand and go in with your eyes wide open. THe BAND does work, but YOU have to do your part too... HARD protien will make you full after 2 - 3 oz. of meat, chicken, pork, fish etc.. then you eat your veg. , then if there is room have some complex carb,... ie brown rice, sweet potatoe etc.. BUT and this is a BIG BUT... the BAND does not stop BAD food from going thru... as a mater of fact... JUNK goes thru the band quite easily... so don't think its gonna keep you from eating Candy Bars, Carmel Corn or ICECREAM.... You have to NOT eat those things... forever!~~ Now to your other question, Can I feel the Band inside me....? NO, it is placed DEEP inside your abdonimal cavity, behind your liver and infront of your spine... all around the top part of your stomach (esophogus) Then the tubing loops around inside you and comes out close to the surface , that is wear your PORT will be placed. Just below the surface of the skin somewhere on you tummy area. Mine is just beside my Navel to the left.. I can feel it with my fingers and know exaactly what angle the Nurse needs to approach from to FILL me. My port is a little tipped, but it has posed no fill problems for me. If it gets completely flipped over.. then its got to be repositioned ( not very common) When you are eating you will FEEL a fullness, and if you continue to eat a PAIN in your chest, mine throbs if I try to eat "one more bite".... it hurts like someone is STEPPING on your chest. So you soon learn to STOP when the band tells you to! WIth every fill, its like learning to eat all over again.. you'll be a little more restricted each time until you find you SWEET SPOT... probably after 3 -4 fills. Now where are you going to go for follow up and fills??? NWT?? yikes.. do you plan on flying back to T.O. each fill???( could get expensive) I'd consider GASTRIC SLEEVE if I lived where you do... no fills.. you get the SMALLER Stomach and get full... but once you've had surgery... you'll be restricted... Perhaps Dr. Yau does sleeve as well... I wouldn't be surprised. Actually, if I had it all to do over again... I would have gotten the SLEEVE... but this is hindsight... Several of my Lapbander friends feel the same way... all the adjustments to fills etc can be a pain in the ass.... That being said I've been at my sweet spot since last March 09 and I havne't had a fill since... Don't think I'll need one anytme soon... unless I get closer to my weight goal... then the band will loosen and I'll need it tightened up again. As you loose weight, the band gets looser too.

Congrats!! Dr. Yau is an awesome surgeon, he has probably done the MOST lapbands in Canada.. Daryl RN and Nancy RN will most likely be in the OR with you... they are great... as is Carmella the recovery nurse... THe whole op takes only about 45 mins... then you wake up (groggy) and go home!.... walk around the block as soon as you are able to get up at home... walking will clear the GAS pain in your shoulder better than anything else. I have VERY little pain, only took pain meds for the first day, then just tylenol after that... back at work in two days. Now I am two years out and I can only see the small port scar _____ about that big... pretty cool.

O.k. note the time... I havn't been UP and AWAKE this early since I don't know when! I've taken myself off of my Bedtime Meds for Bipolar just for a week or so... I am thinking that its the ONLY medication left that I take that could possibly be responsible for my RASH.. Ya know the Allergic reaction RASH that I've been struggling with all freeking summer... Well, I got the "bottom end" rash cleared up... stoped taking my HRT Vag cream.... but I still have the rash under my one armpit.. actually in front of my armpit but not quite on my boob... anyways TMI!!! I just have to get ride of this last bit of itch... i am hoping that it is NOT my Bipolar meds cause I like them.. they don't bother my stomach like the other meds did... So my hubby is "watching" me mood wise in case I start to go loopy or something... you guys know me pretty well too... so if you NOTICE I am different or talking a little SIDEWAYS you have my permission to Say so... enough of that... I'll be fine for a week or two... while I check out the skin reaction... I got off my butt and went for a walk this a.m. at 7:30.... felt good, I hadn't had ANY exercise since last weekend when we went hiking on our camping trip. Its a good thing that we went last wkend... as the Temperature now is COLD... and FREEKING Damp and COLD... Yuk... Phyl, I don't know what it is but I've had a headache all week too???? are you bothered by barometric pressure changes? That's what I amputtin it down tooo, either that or coming off these meds... maybe is causing the headaches? i'LL survive.. not a biggie Good job, on all those shopping finds.. girl you do get the bargains! I am back in the basement today, gong to work on my newest quilt.. Peter HATES it.. its for a girl at work and its PINK and Green... not my colour picks.. I'm a green/blue/purple kind of person.... Plus I've got to package up the Swiss Baby quilt and get it in the mail this weekend for sure! Steph, Karla hugs to you both... Kari, good work on staying away from the POP... you can do it.... the food will come.

Dosn't make any sense to me. What is important is how much RESTRICTION you have , not how many cc's are In your band. But, that being the case.... if you don't keep track of how many CC's are in there how do you know if there is a LEAK or not... I had a LEAK and they'd put in 9 cc's/ but when withdrawn under FLURo there was only 5 cc's.... Gee, where did the 4 cc's go????? dah... they were leaking out... as there was a pin prick leak in my tubing.... ( fill nurse punctured my tubing during a routine FILL) Now what happened to me was UNUSUAL, and they DID fix it no charge... but I was months regaining my restriction...

It won't hurt to close your eyes and Imagine MICHAEL ALREADY THERE IN PLACEMENT.... see him there... its got to work. Linda, where are you girl? Karri, busy with school stuff I know its only October... Getting ready for the wedding next weekend, we are hosting the day after BRUNCH for the familys... I am having it catered and hubby decided this a..m. that serving Samaosa's with Brunch would be a good idea. So off to the Liquor store he goes for Champagne... (yuk, I hate champagne, all those damn bubbles) Now, he's home agian and anounced that he's going to start making ICE CUBES for next weekend.... O..k... now PHYL, stop laughing!!! Dear Steph; oh girl don't ever feel like you can't come here and tell us your troubles. Don't ISOLATE that is very distructive o.k?? WE are all your SISTERS and we love you ALWAYS, even when your life sucks. It is dark now, but you know what they say "its always Darkest just before the LIGHT: which means it is going to get better, maybe not in the next week... but you've put the wheels in motion for dealing with Michael. Residential care is the BEST solution for your WHOLE family for now... You have tried so hard with him and now its time for professionals. You can then concentrat on the younger ones who are obviously smart little tykes.... who are modeling MIchaels behaviour... Go give JEFF a big sloppy kiss and hug... HANG TOGETHER... you'll get thru this too. REMEMBER WE LOVE YOU!!!

Oh thanks Karla, it is all hand quilted... all my quilts are. I just love sitting watching TV and quilting... keeps my hands busy so I dont' EAT!! ha,ha,ha... but I am learning to Machine quilt, remmber the Blue/Yellow I posted not too long ago? That is my MachineQUilted project... it will be 20 blocks when done at the end of the year (BofTM club) Girl, there has to be a way you could be seen by the doctor. What if you wrote a teaching hospital and voiced your delima, dosn't anyone do probono??? or could you be a Teaching SUBJECT for a Gyniey class??? When is OBAMA's health care reform going to take affect? WIll that help you out? I had to take my MOM to her eye Doctor today. SHe said "my glasses aren't strong enough, I need new ones" So i took her to the Optometrist, he said "ah, you've not had an Eye exam by an Opthamologist in 2 Years!" Now we really lucked in, cause my MOM did not make an appt. and it just so happened that the Opthamologist just happened in with her 6 1/2 mo.old baby on her hip... When she saw my MOM, she said it's o.k. I'll see her right now, If you don't mind holding the baby? DAH, would "I" mind? Hell no!!! My Gramma Radar has been on ALERT ever since my DD and DSIL2B got engaged. SO Dr. puts in drops and does the glacoma test, but then takes me aside and says Your MOM needs a further Specialist to examine her as SHe has Macular degeneration and I suspect that its the WET kind, not the DRY as she was told 2 years ago. So no amount of new glasses is going to save her vision... now we go to the EXTRA Special Opthamologist, probably in two weeks. Oh , pray that its DRY macular deg. I don't want her to go blind too with all the other stuff that's wrong with her... crap, she sits all day on an oxygen tank, the only pleasures she gets is TV, GOLF tournaments and reading the newspaper. Getting old REALLY SUCKS!!! and is not for WHIMPS! Karla, for SURE we are stopping in Montana, TWICE... once to see Stephanie and Once to see YOU!!! Wouldn't miss it for the world and you can tell us ALL the cool places to visit in MON... Then we need to plan a swing trip to New Orleans and California.... Gotta sign off now, my TV show favorite is on at 9 p.m. "The Tudors".... its on CBC... don't know if you guys get any Canadian TV shows down there... or sometimes its on SHOWCASE... anywys, Historical drama about King Henry the VIII and all the wives that he killed etc... really GOOD!!!

Maybe by next year, my DD and DSIL2B will be "working" on MY grandbaby!!! and I can make some more quilts.. hee,hee,hee... Sorry, this is probably boring for everyone except Karla, Linda & Kari.....

Jackie; I don't envy you your firing task, just remember... its not personal, SHE had a job to do and wasn't doing it... and YOU have a job and ARE doing it.. that's all. plain and simple. SHe's had warnings ... so it can't be that much of a surprise for her. Linda; You must be very busy with school..... GOOD NEWS, we've decided to do a BIG RV trip in the spring. Hey, you must have been typing the same time I was..:tongue2: Did you get you plain ticket for Texas yet? Sorry, I've not been on LBT much , there's been a BIG crackdown on internet use at work. Last week we had a HUGE SPYWARE infiltration, so all the computers had to go into the shop to get cleaned up. My BOSS comes to me (and the rest of the staff) and says "could we all pls not use the internet at work for a week or so, while SOMEONE gets this spyware/adware thing sorted out" I can totally see her point BUT I need the internet for MY JOB, as well as keep my sanity at work. I often go on LASER sites to do research, take web seminars, submit Insurance Claims so the CHIROPRACTOR can get PAID for her services... dah... did she forget that????? Also we have a WEB SITE for the clinic which "I" maintian... kinda hard to do if I stay off the internet eh???? I swear, she dosn;t think sometimes... O.k. here's where I go... LAPBANDTALK ( we all know its safe or else WE"D all be getting bugs) SPARKPEOPLE.COM,, where I log my food, also my WeightLoss CLients, I send them there to log their food also. PUBMED where I do research for laser Mayoclinic web site HOTMAIL... that's it, that's allthe places that I go. O/T I went last week and got my nails done, SOLAR nails she called them, acrillic I think??? They lood really nice - I'lll get them redone just before the wedding... Oh Janet, the wedding date is SUNDAY OCT 11th... its our THANKSGIVING weekend here,,, s/b beautiful with all the fall colours changing then... can't wait. Phyl, I can't believe YOU and ME are the only ones that like our marshmallows the RIGHT way??? Sheesh

Oh gosh, wasn't that information included with your Lap Band Dietary notes! BLACK marshmallows have all the sugar burned off, hence they are healthier..... also the black bites are FULL Of FIBRE!!!! Skip the graham crackers & Chocolate, just skip that step and buy those nice butter crackers already coated in chocolate... its much handier!! :tongue2:

A good friend of our "Ray" had knee... surgery date. 8 wks ago. He can flex his knee 127 degrees now but he is NOT walking as far as our PHYL is doing... I don't think he is as motivated to push it. www.greatcanadianparks.com/ontario/brucenp/index.htm is where we went camping this weekend. Its the Bruce Peninsula... the top of the Niagra Escarpment... truly beautiful, and I can't wait to go back and do more of the trails. Peter, Woody, Twig and I did 6 km of rough terrain, up and down wooded areas, rocky beaches (wait till you see the pictures) rocks and tree roots...the the veiws once you got to the water were spectacular. Marshmellows over the campfire (they are 20 cals each) but I had 10 each night... YUM YUM YUM CBL
