Hi Meg, if the rash doesn't seem go go away with the hydrocortisone, try yeast infection cream. I sometimes, esp in the summer, would get yeast rashes in some folds of skin. I buy the generic 7 day yeast kit in the feminine product aisle as it has the biggest tube of cream in it.

I haven't really updated you guys in a while so here goes. Surgery was on 12/18 and the shoulder pain was terrible but I made it through. I really felt tired and run down for about a week. I've had some head hungry and I've have had my time of chewing and spitting out like all of us have had, but I'm really not hungry much anymore. Now that I'm about sixteen days out I have to remember to eat and measure or I get that overfilled feeling with pain and I don't like it. I'm getting in all of the liquids but lately it's hard to get all the Protein in. Guess I'm just getting tired of the flavors. I've enjoyed the retried Beans thinned with chicken broth and some cheese. Mainly stay with Soups, soft eggs, and cheese grits. I can eat about 1/4 cup of solids now so I guess that's good. I watched TLC's my six hundred pound life and it scared me to death because the guy lost 400 pounds and he gained back almost 300 pounds. I hope and pray this doesn't happen to me or us, not after going through all of this. Guess this shows me this surgery is just a tool I could be back here again. It makes me determine to make this change for the rest of my life. I pray that we all succeed in our journeys. Also my prayer and thoughts are with our friend Deez. Wishing you well and a I hope your home soon.

Thanks all of u for ur thots and prayers! As of now, the doc says npo still bc of spasms:'( day 5 n still nothing to eat or drink. I too had a hernia repaired and as far as pain from those sites, nothing. I asked doc was I considered a statistic bc I'm sad about what may be my future. He says success but I say noway. I'm trying to stay positive around my family but I cried today bc doc said if I'm not better, spasms, by Monday, I'm going on i.v. nutrition! I'm just bummed out now. I tried finally helping myself and now I feel I Shuda left well enough alone. Ik God will get me over this mountain but right now its difficult to sit all day wo at least a sliver of ice. The mercy part of it all is that I'm not hungry either way, thank God, just losing patience. Anyways I pray that u all are continuing being successful n healthy. I pray that I too will start doing better. Unless things change, Lord willing, I'll check bck in on monday. God bless n gn all:)

Really don't like those isopure clear drinks and I was hoping they would be my saving grace
My doc office doesn't recommend Gatorade or powerades or anything else similar .. Simply water and Protein Shakes, broth, pops tea and Jello, yogurt -- but can't really tolerate Much even water and warm tea creates discomfort after a while ... Takes me about 1.5+hours to finish 9oz of Protein Shake and 3.5 hours to get down 16oz of water
I think of and miss real food but I'm nervous about the pain it will cause when mushy foods stage starts next week -- it's a very slow progress of returning to normalcy for me and I'm 22 days out
I was a ball of energy before this surgery with no co morbidities at all and I'm 31 yrs old so my slow recovery is a bit of a shock
I take and tolerate chewable vitamins but doubt they are doing much for me
I'll continue to pray! Thanks for your concern and suggestions
Hope all is well with you!

WOOHOOO....congratulations and welcome to TWO-derland...your stay will be short and sweet I am sure!
Absolutely claim that half a pound...I'm on day 3 (or 4) of the three week stall, so even if I lost 1/10 of a pound, I would be claiming it!
    Yahooo!!!! Way to go!

I am only a month and a half out, but I will say that the first solid month I lost 40 pounds. Just dropped with no work...nothing. Just poof. But now I have noticed that the loss has slowed down unless I workout. I started working out and not only has my weight loss started back up, but I also feel better and have more energy!

I WORK for it!! Total change of lifestyle and I LOVE it!!!
I weigh or measure all my food, I make good food choices, and I workout.
I have a couple friends who had wls, and we were all at the same starting point. One exercises but eats as she did before but smaller portions. The other follows the plan as far as eating but hasn't exercised. They are both struggling around the 200lb wt mark while I now weigh 147. I'm not saying everyone would get those results, but it surely works for me.

If it wasn't for that pesky love and empathy thing, having that baby wouldn't have been much of a challenge.
If you go for the optimum you will have to work. The trick is to make it a joy. Movement became a great high to me after being locked in a restrictive body. Pumping lungs, fast beating heart, power surging through those expanding muscles, gotta have it!

I work my program to a T. It works. I work out as instructed.
It works. I'm losing and don't really care if it's fast or slow. Just the fact that I'm losing is cause for celebration...is it not??

If you consider having major surgery, sipping all the damn time, eating under 800 calories a day, logging everything in my life, trying to get 80g Protein but usually only getting 65-70, taking chewable vitamins 3 times a day, trying to stay hydrated, dealing with everybody's curiosity, trying to fit in exercise when I really dont want to and being obsessed about this darn forum "falling off", then yes, the weight just falls off.

Well I weighted and it is as bad as I thought it would be. Gained 10 pounds since I last weighted in October. Gained 20 from my lowest weight. Am now 25 -30 from goal. I have pretty much partied all Holiday season with no effort what so ever!! I am SOOOOO pissed at myself but I learned many lessons:
    1. I HAVE to weigh at least once a week. Maybe I would have caught this sooner if I had
    2. This will take attention and diligence the rest of my life. I can’t just pretend I am a normal person when it comes to food cause I am not.
    3. Sugar/carbs have to be rareish treats not every day indulgences.
    4. I need support from my fellow sleeve brothers and sisters. I need to get on Bariatric pal daily.
    5. Exercise is necessary not only for my weight loss but also for my mental well being. I am a stress eater and the exercise helps with the stress.
I restarted a ticker and set some new goals for myself. Joined the Valentines Day challenge and set that goal at 10 pounds.
Really trying hard right now not to beat myself up but it is so hard!

Finally a doc that got it right. Coffee does NOT cause dehydration, it just doesn't add anything, the caffeine cancels out the Water intake. So don't count it.

Oh Dear, you are not alone!! I was sleeved on Dec 16th. My HW was 255, SW 241 and I am now at 229. HOWEVER, I have been at this weight since December 24th. And it even went up to 231 and back down a couple of times. It is killing me to think that I could be a slow loser also. But I do have faith that in the long run, the sleeve will work for me as I am sure it will work for you. Just look back at all the changes you have already made to your lifestyle. Most people on the forums will tell you that this is not a linear journey. There are stalls, ups, and downs. Hang in there. You are NOT alone and you WILL succeed. ((hugs))

I agree! I was in the slow Looser's group here. Because my weight has come off slower compared to the average sleever for the month I had Surgery. But, 95 lbs later I'm happy! The weight will come off. You will reach your destination. Keep working at it. Congrats on your Surgery

I have been on this forum for ages it seems and have seen this question from many different people in different ways. It amazes me how our bodies are virtually alike but respond in such unpredictable and various ways.
10 pounds could mean a lot of different things. Metabolisms must adjust, fat goes down..muscle goes up, and unknown to anyone factors in our mind boggling complex bodies could be the culprit. If you compare yourself with super-fast losers 10 pounds is slow. In your case, given your set of circumstances and your body chemistry it could be ahead of schedule.
The preponderance of scientific data would suggest that if you keep doing the right thing for long enough, the excess fat will come off. Even a slow train reaches it's destination.

You are well within normal. Not everyone loses 20 pounds or more a month. Lots of us lose 10 lbs a month or even half that. However, To be sure you are making the most of your sleeve, follow the rules, because they really do make a difference:
    1) get in 64 oz of liquids (non calorie) daily
    2) get in at least 70 grams of Protein or whatever number your doctor recommended
    3) try to walk at least 30 minutes every day or more
    4) avoid sweet drinks, sugar, sweetened coffees, fruit smoothies, etc.

    Hang in there, Linda.
I was sleeved on 11/14, so I'm a few weeks ahead of you. I stalled for 13 days between weeks 4 and 5. OMG, that was hard. I knew the dreaded stall was going to happen because I read about it. I wasn't prepared for it. I also wasn't prepared for me to be a "slow loser".
In the month of December I "only" lost 9 pounds. At first, I looked at that number and thought "was this really worth it?" Luckily, I had my 6 week follow up with my doc & NUT at about the same time. Here's some things I found out that made me feel better
    - I've reduced my body fat by 5% while not losing my lean muscle mass (this is why pushing the Protein is important - muscles burn calories efficiently, fat doesn't, also muscle is more dense than fat).
    - My blood pressure is lower than has been in years.
Also, I'm seeing changes to my body. I've been working out - about 60-75 minutes per day on the treadmill daily and I started doing the elliptical last week. I can see changes because I'm taking pictures on a regular basis. I took my measurements before surgery, but haven't taken them since because I can see my clothes are falling off me. That's a good indicator that I'm getting small even though the scale isn't going down. We have been programmed to only use the scale as a gauge of how we're doing.
With all that said, please, please be patient. Your body just went thru major surgery - it will catch up. Your brain wants it to move faster and that's natural, I think a lot of us do that.
    Take good care, sweetie.
