  1. I'm down two since the start of this challenge which I cannot believe because I'm never on track for these challenges! I'm definitely going to need another unfill though. Last night I pb'd a lot.
  2. Sades - you're GORGEOUS!!! I can see a big difference! Now I've got a face to put to the name. I'll post mine someday soon too.
  3. Aubrie, if I could eat like you I would be happy. Right now I can't eat protein or veggies or fruit because they won't go down. All I have in a day is milk. I'm going to get another unfill, this time a larger one, so I can EAT again. I've had two .25 cc unfils lately but they haven't helped. This band is so finicky. I don't get it.
  4. Hey Scarecrow, no, I'm not getting in protein because my stomach keeps getting irritated and only liquids go down. I just cracked open my protein shakes again today though. I've been feeling quite blue lately - probably because I'm not getting enough "something" in my diet. I'm not eating my vitamins either because the last time I swallowed them I got stuck bad which really irritated my stomach and resulted in a partial unfill. And if I crush them they still irritate my esophagus going down. I've been eating Juice Plus though which is supposed to contain concentrated amounts of fruit and veggies. I'm just not feeling healthy. :cursing: Boy, what a pity party, huh?
  5. See, you think that's cool, don't you? I'm telling you anyone can fly an airplane. I used to be a flight instructor before I had my son. I don't do it anymore though. I'm a stay at home mom now.
  6. Yikes, I think I want the fluoro then. I'll ask them about that.
  7. Well, I've never had any barium swallow pre or post-op so I don't know anything about this. What is the process involved with fluoro?
  8. Woops, I meant Same Kind of Different As Me, if you live in the south. doh!
  9. It seems everyone needs to have a barium swallow with an X-ray to determine a slip, right? Just an X-ray without the barium can't possibly show anything or can it? My doc wanted to do just an X-ray to see if the band had moved. The nurse said they could tell from the position of the band on the X-ray whether the band placement had moved and therefore whether it slipped. This didn't make sense to me because I've heard on here how so many people need the barium to show the path of the liquid. Opinions on this anyone? I've had a lot of acid reflux and not able to eat very much more than liquids so I had a partial unfill and was quite well for a few days, but then I think I overdid it a bit on the food which probably aggravated things again and I'm back to a lot of acid reflux and liquids. I'm so worried I have a slip, BUT I will not have an X-ray taken unless I absolutely have to (for radiation/health reasons). This is why I refused the first X-ray and got a partial unfill instead, because it didn't make sense to do it without the barium. I just want to educate myself fully before I get this durn X-ray taken, because I sure don't want to have to get another one done with barium at a later time. :smile2: (I'm the type that won't even use a cell phone:tongue_smilie:)
  10. That sounds good Kasey, right up my alley. I loved the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, which has the same theme going. Another great book I just thought of is Peace Like a River. Wow! Especially for anyone who has ever lived in the south.
  11. Yes, people actually look at me, not through me like I'm invisible.
  12. Kasey - thanks for the suggestions. Are you a YA fan? I also loved all of Karen Cushman's books (except for Rodzina). She had a few Newberry awards. I'm finding anything with a Newberry award I generally like a lot. How exciting to get your book published!! You'll have to tell us what it is so we can read it. Did you get banded Nov of '07? Or is that your join date? You should come join our November group. It's a great bunch of people.
  13. LOVED Pillars of the Earth AND Dead Until Dark AND Twilight series! I just read City of Ember last night. It must be a young adult. I'm finding a lot of really good young adult reads lately.
  14. This is fantastic. There's many on here I've read already. Great minds I'm telling ya! A great book I read a while ago was Peace Like a River. I loved The Lightning Thief and the series that followed, and The Warrior Heir and that series.
  15. Hey Steph! I'm with you, girl. I eat barely anything and the scale rarely budges. Maybe 1 pound per month if I'm lucky. And I'm also a smaller size this time around per body weight than the last time I was at this weight. Weird. For me it takes a loooong time of watching what I eat, then I can physically feel my body getting smaller, even though the scale stays the same. Then about a week later I'll lose a pound. Then I have to stay at that weight or even a little above before the scale will move down again the next month. What I don't understand is how I would ever have lost weight with typical diets pre-band - like weight watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, etc. I tried them all and lose a few, and then that would be that. Now I know that for what my body needs to lose weight is really hardly anything - like two glasses of milk a day and maybe an orange, something like that. It's absolutely ridiculous.
  16. I can't have ground beef unless I chew and (gross) spit out the unchewable stuff. I can eat steak, chicken and pork if it's not tough though. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to eat sausage either, but haven't tried it. It's the grisly parts that gets stuck.
  17. Sades - I'm so proud of you - just look at your ticker. A lot of that was without restriction!!!
  18. Okay, your replies have put things a bit more into perspective for me. Michee - I never used to eat anything healthy before being banded either! But oddly enough, now that I know I can only have a little bit of food, I make sure it's something healthy (well 90% healthy anyway
  19. Okay, but how do you get in the old recommended five fruits and veggies, much less the ten recommended now? And that's just fruit and veg. Then there's protein and dairy ...
  20. Does anyone feel like "I should be eating more just for nutrition?" I'm never hungry, but I'm always thinking I should be eating, I'm not getting IN enough. I could probably live off two glasses of milk and one small salad a day. Anyone else feel like this?
  21. Sounds kind of like when I decided being a pilot would be cool. FYI, ANYONE can learn how to fly a plane, and it's pretty darn unglamarous as well!
  22. Thanks Steph, I'm going to look into these vitamins.
  23. Happy Thanksgiving! Well, what we did on our special day was almost get lost on a mountain in the Ozarks. We went for our first mountain bike trip as a family (me, my husband, and four year old on a tagalong). It was supposed to be one hour, 4 miles. We kept going and going and going, then realized we'd better just turn around as we'd already gone 4 miles and there was no end (there was an option to go 8 or 12 miles, and I think we missed the turn off). So we turned around. The sun was going down, we ran out of water, had NO survival gear, not even jackets. This was not an easy path - very rocky and hard to see with leaves covering it, so no way to follow it in the dark. I prayed to my deceased grandpa and God the whole way that we would make it back to the truck before the sun went down. We finally made it with 1/2 hour to spare - a one-hour trip turned into a four-hour trip. I lost count of the times I fell due to sheer exhaustion. But it ended up being a very, very thankful day. I'm not uber-religious, but I find God usually in nature, and he/she was certainly watching out for us that day. I kept watching the sun go down and just kept praying God stay with me, give us a bit more daylight. It would have been very scary being caught out in the mountains at night with no water or fire. I will never go into the mountains again without the basic survival gear.
  24. I had this feeling pre-band when I took my son to a place with inflatable jumping things and the weight limit was 200. I couldn't believe I couldn't go on it even if I wanted to. :wink2: Bandpal, Wendy, you're like completely different people!!!!
  25. What is happening to me is a lot of acid reflux, but no vomiting or nausea, no PBing or sliming. I got a partial unfill today so I hope it's just that it was too tight. I'm also burping quite a lot.
