Blue - Thanks for one of the best laughs I have had in a long time. I know what you mean about a good colorist! They have to be tolerated...the cost of beauty.
Congrats on your weight loss and best of luck on your continued journey.

You look really hot, I bet your wife is delirious ( I know I would be!) and it's so great that your going to spend a lifetime with your kid (s) being healthy and happy.... Congratulations on your new life I'm beyond thrilled for your success... Kudos!

You can do this! I'm 15 weeks out and I totally understand what you are saying. I could easily snack all day!!
Here is my routine. Everyone is different but this works for me.
    Mon - fri
8 am cottage cheese with fruit
12 noon lunch meat with cheese rolled or tuna on one serving of whole grain crackers. I buy the ones with the least amount of carbs
5 pm small snack, pork skins, fruit, cheese, or humus with 5 seed crackers. Proportion!!
7pm choice of meat 2 oz and small side. (Salad, green Beans, or sweet potato.)
    Saturday - Sunday
About the same as the week days but if I want a junky snack I have it! popcorn, one cookie, frozen yogurt, or one slice of pizza etc...
I am holding myself accountable for the week days and the weekends too but will not punish myself (get down on myself) if I enjoy some sugar/carbs.
Remind yourself of how you felt before surgery!!
Make yourself some sticky notes with reminders in your car, house, work etc
I also set alarms on my phone (program them) to go off when I can eat.

BlueClementine got a reaction from LittleLou in 3 wks out 22lbs down and energy issues
So I had no preop diet since my BMI was 35.6, and I'm extremely pleased with my loss thus far. Doing everything to the letter, my pain subsided by day 4/5, but since this past Sunday I've been SO tired. I'm physically almost as tired as I was the first week which doesn't make sense to me, I felt great wk 2. I've been active around the house and walking, but have been laying in bed mostly since Monday. I wanted to kick up the exercise a bit to try and build energy...
I've tried my Zumba DVDs but they are just to fast paced for me to keep up, forget all that jumping and bouncing! So yesterday I pulled out my large yoga ball and sat on it most of the day, stretching, hip rotations, etc. felt pretty good this morning. Just finished up a 45 min "dance jam" to VH1 on the ball, basically dancing while sitting and bouncing and rolling around like a loon - my 18 yr old son laughed his ass off when he walked into the TV room and saw me jamming on the ball.
So if any of you are having a hard time exercising and have a yoga ball hiding in a closet, go grab it! It's actually pretty fun and I broke a sweat and my heartbeat stayed elevated throughout. And I'm not exhausted afterward
I think I may have even learned how to twerk! ???? thanks Miley

BlueClementine got a reaction from gmanbat in Happy to see a "Man Room"
I do love orchids, but not in urinals... Not the proper nutrients for growth! My husband tells me one of my best attributes is I think like a man (mostly) and I've always enjoyed the company of men over women (again, mostly!)...
One of my favorite movie lines is Jack Nicholson in "As Good as it Gets" - a woman asks him how he can write about women so well and he replies, "I think of a man, then I take away reason and accountability". I'm sure I'll be hated on for this, but my God is that ever true 99%. Don't even get me started on driving.
Lol, ok I'm done with bashing my sex, enjoy your Mens Room and I'll keep my two cents to myself from here on out... Or at least I'll try really hard

BlueClementine got a reaction from kmed21 in 14 days out and wow! What an experience
Today is 14 days post op, and this is my first post since surgery.
8/20 I was the last patient of the day scheduled at 5:30, didn't go in until 7:30. When I woke up the only thing I could feel was fire. I was expecting pain, but it literally felt like my insides were on fire. Not pleasant. It was a VERY long night, but I managed. I was discharged the next day at noon.
The first 3 days were very rough, pain was bad, gas pains were brutal, my stomach was very inflated and I couldn't get comfortable to save my life. Forget laying down flat. The pain in my chest and stomach just trying to swallow Water was excruciating. I managed.
By day 4 the pain was minimal and I was up and about doing normal household things, but I tired easily.
By day 5 I could drink a little better without so much discomfort. But god forbid I take a sip and then laid down. In fact, sometimes the only way I could stand to drink was walking around. Being vertical felt much better than horizontal.
By day 7 the swelling in my stomach was greatly reduced and the pain was gone, except the occasional twinge. I started walking regularly a couple times a day just around the yard and neighborhood, and have tried to stay active, stretching and moving some small weights around with upper body, no problems there. Again, I just tire easily. I've followed the liquid diet to the letter, and week 2 I started full liquids. Soups hurt if I'm not careful. Water goes down easily now. I'm basically living off Protein Shakes and Isopure clear drinks, broth, and the occasional Soup with unflavored Protein added.
I'm never really hungry, but I do know when I need to feed my sleeve - I start to feel slightly nauseous in my tummy or an acid feeling. A little bit of protein, it goes away. Im managing 60-80oz liquids and most days I hit 70-80 grams protien. I am so glad I've done this, but the first week was hard! Harder than I expected and I thought I had a grip on the situation!! lol, the things we tell ourselves....
So I got on the scale today and I'm down 17 pounds. I almost freaked. I re-weighed myself a dozen times, and the number was the same! I also took full body pictures of myself, which I had not yet had the bravery to do.
So today is a great day! I feel really good physically and mentally, I know I'm doing what I'm suppose to, and the weight is coming off. Its a beautiful feeling!!

BlueClementine reacted to stacechase in 2 weeks post-op: I can see it in my face!
Had my 2-week post-op appointment today, and I'm feeling great! Still sore at my two major incision sites (man, I miss sleeping on my stomach!) but besides that, I'm taking multiple-mile walks a day and following the diet prescribed by my surgeon.
He was SUPER impressed with the fact that I've lost 5% of my BMI since the start of this process, woo hoo! I took a new photo of me (and my happy, I've-lost-34-lbs-since-July-26 smile) and loved how much my face has changed since the start of my pre-op diet.
Just wanted to share this small victory, and encourage everyone to follow their surgeon's plan, get plenty of exercise, and remember to stop and enjoy the little victories along the way!
Have a great Labor Day, everyone!

Hang in there Mocha! I was sleeved same day as you and experienced the same problem. It was so bad that I barely took in anything the next day, plus I was throwing up what I tried to take in! In fact, they didn't want to release me until I could keep stuff down without the nausea meds. I managed to convince them that just getting home would help (who the hell can rest and recover in a hospital??). Surprisingly they agreed, and it has made a world of difference. The nausea is completely gone, pain is minimal, and the gas is much, much better! Keep on walking...it really does help.
Increasing my intake slowly, and not beating myself up for falling a little short at the end of the day...as long as it improves a bit more the next day. Mostly focusing on Fluid intake to avoid dehydration...but once your sleeve "wakes up" and the gas subsides, you'll know when your tiny little tummy wants nourishment. We'll get there!
