Today is a struggle for me as i get closer and closer to surgery..... I woke up this morning like many other days after dreaming i had already lost all my weight, I go look in the mirror........ I get discouraged only to remember its a process and to have patience..... Im fed up with my body... I hate my body!!!! I have made a vow to myself.... When not if but, WHEN I get get this load of ugliness off of me.... I vow to never get back this way and Love myself always!!!! I vow to take CARE of my BODY... I dont ever want to see myself like this ever again..... I vow to make better CHOICES and remember that every wrong has a consequence

When I was first sleeved it took me an hour to drink 8oz of Protein. I would drink all day long from 8 AM to 2 AM to get in my 64 ounces and 70 grams of protein because I didn't want to get dehydrated and yes it hurt if I drank to fast, so you do have to sip all day long.

@Justwant2behealthy, I too was an emotional mess before my surgery; you have all kinds of unanswered questions going through your head and a bunch of "what ifs" and this is totally normal. I did a lot of praying before surgery. I am glad that I had it done and wish I would have done it sooner. Everything will be fine and just think how much better you will feel after. am post of 7 weeks and down 36lbs.
    Good Luck

You are doing great! I could not have lost 45 pounds in three months without this kind of help...could you? Let yourself be happy with your achievement on this journey...discouragement brings old habits. Blessings;-)

I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm 35 250 lbs, PCOS, Fibromyalgia, Sciatica, Insulin resistant, and now my blood pressure is elevating. I'm getting the sleeve because I would love to have a child, not become a diabetic and hypertensive, and live a healthy and happier life. 10 years ago I wouldn't have thought I would be like this, but I know next year I don't want to be where I am today or worse with my health.
Here's a story: 9 yrs ago I was having a breast reduction and all my friends/family told me I didn't need it, but my insurance approved it and I had the surgery. 2 months prior to my surgery I found a lump and all the test said it was cysts. My doctor said he'll remove them during surgery. At my first, post op visit, I was told the cysts was a fist sized tumor; I thank God everyday that is was benign. If it wasn't for me doing something that I was best for me, I may have never found that tumor. With that being said, you have to think about what's best for you. VSG may seem a like BIG life change, but to me it's a BIG & BETTER change.

In just a few hours I will be on the way to the hospital to get sleeved. I am a huge mess of emotions right now! I go from excitement, to nervousness, to so terrified I am thinking about canceling...but I won't. I know I need this, I just keep second guessing myself. Prayers are appreciated!

I am only 7 weeks post op and have been out to eat with my children and husband and I only order appetizers (and I get a to go container)! You have worked hard to get where you are and do not let anyone ruin it for you! Ask for that take home tray! One meal/appetizer can be 3 meals for you!
    Enjoy your victory!

    Hello Everyone,
I am so glad to see this forum for African Americans. My friend told me about this site and I have been all day reading it. I had my surgery on 6/10 and am down 40lbs. Feeling great and have finally been able to do low impact rumba instead of just walking all the time. Black Girls Workout Too is also a great DVD to buy. I ordered it and used it last night for the first time and it will make you sweat and feel good about doing it!

I'm at 5 months and have noticed my hair coming out, a lot of hair. I won't cut it it's very long. I had very thick hair before and no one has noticed it's thinner. Hoping it stops soon.
