Today is my one month surgiversary!!! I can't believe it. Still feels like yesterday I was freaking out about insurance approval and all the crappola that went along with it. Today, I feel like I am doing well and progressing well. I haven't lost as much as most, because I started out as a low BMI'er. But honestly it feels pretty dang awesome.
    Starting weight: 199
    Surgery weight: 192.6
    Current weight: 172.5
    Goal weight: 120
Inches lost in the first month: 12.75 inches!!!!
    Wgt lost to date 26.5lbs
    20.1lbs since surgery.
It is so amazing!!! I can't believe it. And I am so thankful for every glorious pound and inch.
I love the Diva!!! She is awesome!!!

In my first 7 days being sleeved, the top 10 things I have learned :
    1) In the world of competitive sleeping, I am a Gold Medalist. I can (& do) nap anytime, anywhere.
    2) I am hanging up my stethoscope. My new fulltime job is to "sip, sip, sip". Staying hydrated is hard work.
    3) The sounds coming from my new stomach are not lady like.
    4) I am no longer a bashful burper.
    5) Daytime TV sucks.
    6) Not every belly twinge is a potential leak. I am a nurse, so I always look at the worst case health scenarios first. Hard habit to break.
    7) Isopure gags me, but is tolerable if made into SF Jello.
    8) Old Navy makes super comfy yoga pants, even if I never assume a "Lotus" pose.
    9) Clear liquid diets are doable for a few days. My favorite flavor is blue.
and last, but definitely not least, as a wise forum member once advised me:
    10) Never trust a shart!

Don't be nervous. Have faith in your choice , in your surgeon and God (if you fancy). Your gonna be fine. Then the journey begins. Good Luck! Stay strong.

    Ladies -
Only you can answer the ultimate question of whether this is right for you or not. Your surgeon can advise you on the risks of surgery. Weigh that factor heavily.
There is a plethora of information on this site about the trials and tribulations of pre-op and post-op weight loss. While I certainly Celebrate individuality, I see many threads of commonalities in the postings here. Meaning... there are other people just like you. Look for them. You may even want to contact them. Ask what you are really worried about....
I was sleeved in June of this year. So most of us June sleevers are about 3 months out or a bit less. 99% of us are past the physical issues related to surgery and now dealing with stalls and avoiding old habits again. I would suggest reading the June 2013 sleevers trail of messages where you will see the good bad and ugly as about 100 people went through this process.
In my humble opinion, the physical repercussions are relatively minor compared to the mental and emotional ones. Each of us has their our own set of challenges but there is a great deal of crossover.
Build a strong network of people close to you in real life and perhaps a few key supporters online that really "get it" and "get you".
This is not easy but either was being overweight with no hope in sight. 24+ years of just getting heavier, trying every diet, exercise plan, gaining after pregnancy - I am surprised I am still sane.
"Did I try hard enough?" That is the self-sabotage question of a lifetime. I asked myself that long enough and was becoming my own worst enemy. Finally, for me, I just said to myself - "The results are in and these people with sleeves are really doing it. I just don't want to live like this anymore and I don't want even more problems when I age." There is a posting about the Straw that Broke the Camels back here. I would suggest you read those postings. VERY compelling statements about what brought people to this point. I suspect you will see yourself in a variety of those postings.
"Did I try hard enough" can imply that this step is not a hard one. This process/journey is by no means easy. So I suspect when you're on the other side of surgery you will say "Damn right I have!!" Pat yourself on the back for figuring out that this is going to work for you and get ready to work with a tool that you have been looking for all of your life.
I wish you both the best of luck in your continued journey. Feel free to reach out to me privately too. The best is yet to come.

I've requested 2 weeks and 2 days. My surgery if on a Thursday so I just added the 2 days. I figured I'd need the time to get used to eating that way more than the recovery but I guess I won't know till I get there.

I had my surgery on July 25...started at 244 and am now down to 215. Wish I'd done this sooner, to be quite honest. The 25th was a Thursday, my surgery was at 8am, I was released on Friday evening, and I was back to work on Monday. I work in IT, so while my job can be stressful, I mostly sit at my desk or in meetings. I've been very lucky...only issue I've had was a wicked rash from something post-surgery...doc thinks it was the extra adhesive they put on the surgical tape to make it stick longer. I wanted to scratch the skin off my stomach...and I've never had an allergic reaction to anything...so it was definitely weird. But in the grand scheme of complications, no sweat...steroid and antibiotics and it was gone. food has been fine for me, no reactions or stomach problems to date. I've been mostly on yogurts, cheese, cottage cheese, apple sauce...stuff like that. I've started to dabble in other foods for the next phase...cautiously, but with no issues. Nothing tastes different to me, at least yet. I am struggling to get my Protein in...it's a constant battle, but I'm getting better at it. liquids I seem to do pretty well with...I'm usually in the 65-75 oz range. I did my first Couch 2 5k jogs this week...hoping to get back into running and lifting to tone up. My surgeon made my day when I had my follow-up the other day...said he could really see the definition in my cheek bones coming out. Yay...my face is less fat! A work in progress, for sure...but I couldn't be happier with my results to date.
If you're on the fence, don't be! Do this for you, your family, your kids, your spouse/significant other...whatever inspires and motivates you. I did it for all of the above...and I did it for my career as well. I have a great job that I love...and I didn't want my weight to get in the way or slow me down.
For those of you pursuing approval, keep trying. For those of you scheduled, best wishes. For those of you who are post-surgery, keep rockin' it! All the best...

So tomorrow will be my 6 months since my surgery. My surgery date was Jan. 21st 2013 and I was 360lbs. As of today I am 230lbs.
I set a test for myself at my 6 month mark called the Savage Race. This is a 4 mile run and 25 obstacles course. I completed the race in 1 house and 40 minutes. I wanted to prove to myself that I could and I did. There is no way I would have been able to do this race 6 months ago. I'll be moving on to my next challenge and reclaiming my life back, Skydiving (need to drop 15 more pounds to do so).
So here are my before and after pictures. sorry that they are so big.
