  1. Can anyone feel their port? I wasn't anticipating this. I was banded on 8/8 - the port is on my ribs, the one place where I don't have very much fat. I can tell it is not swelling because it feels flat and very specifically port-like. Does anyone have this issue?
  2. I was banded on the 8th too and am on mushies as well. I would say that my stomach is never really comfortable but I dont feel hungry at all. Are you making sure not to drink before, after or during eating? Are you eating protein? Just a thought.
  3. What is water weight loss? How long does it go on for? Is it a bad or a good thing??? Does it mean I haven't been drinking enough? I had surgery on 8/8 and have lost over 8lbs since then which seems like a lot to me. I have been drinking a lot I think but not eating a ton - maybe 400-500 cals a day. Is this something I should worry about?
  4. Remember this. I was full of regrets and generally miserable on thursday, friday and even a little on Saturday. Today I went shopping and walked around. Mind you I am still very very sore but no longer miserable. I heard this before surgery but I myself blocked it out so I wanted to put it out there again

  12. I am talking pre-op - there is no prohibition on carbonated beverages (at least from my doctor) pre-op since the carbonation issues comes into play with the band.
  13. I was told clear - meaning broth, sf jello, popsicles, clear sodas.
  14. I am dying on my first of two days of clear liquids pre-op. Any suggestions? I have been having ff broth, diet gingerale, sugar free jello. Am I missing any options?
  15. I am scheduled for surgery on 8/8 and 3 weeks later I am traveling for 2 weeks internationally. I know it is going to be rough with the food but my doctor said medically it should be fine.

  19. Hi Nanny, I am on 8/8 too. Also getting nervous and trying to buy some of the things I think I will need. I don't have any special diet except for clear liquids for two days before surgery.
  20. I am in NY too. My surgery is scheduled for 8/8 at Ny Hospital Cornell/Weill. I don't know what a monometry is - is it some kind of test? Who is your doctor and which insurance do you have?
