I was banded on August 8th and the past couple of days my stomach is always complaining. Either its full or its empty. There is never a time when I dont notice it. I am on mushies right now and the food never seems to last long in my stomach so most the time I am feeling hungry even when I am drinking Water. Is this normal? Will it go away?

Hi- Wow it is really amazing how different the doctors can make pre-op and post-op diets. I was banded on Aug. 10th and Im on Clear Liquids for another 10 days. I have not experienced the hunger thing. After about 3-4 oz. of either Water, gatorade, or Protein Shake, I am full. I wouldnt be so concerned as of yet, everyone really responds to the band in different ways. I would ask your surgeon at your follow-up appointment. Good Luck and stay positive.

I was banded on the 8th too and am on mushies as well. I would say that my stomach is never really comfortable but I dont feel hungry at all. Are you making sure not to drink before, after or during eating? Are you eating Protein? Just a thought.

I havent been drinking while eating but I probably could wait a little longer before and after eating before drinking. Its hard sometimes to wait a full 30 minutes afterward to drink. I have been averaging between 60 and 70 grams of Protein a day. From what I read I believe that is enough. I have been drinking atleast one Boost to make sure I get enough. Maybe i need to work on finding mushies that stay with me longer.

I was banded on Aug 2nd, and I have the same problem. My stomach is just disagreeable, no matter what I do or don't do. I am curious now though, I thought the 'no drinking during or right after eating' rule only applied once we have a fill and are restricted? When we are not yet restricted, why would it hurt to drink before/during/after our meals? Does anyone know? Have I got it wrong - if so, maybe that is why I am feeling nauseated, I am drinking every waking hour and didn't know I wasn't suppose to yet?

From what I understand Water liquefies the food you have eaten making it go through the band quicker, restricted or not. Now if you are still on an all liquid diet still Im not sure if it matters or not. I do have to say that I am feeling a bit better today. I had oatmeal for Breakfast and made sure to wait long enough before drinking water. It seemed to help for a little bit but still didnt keep my stomach from getting hungry for long after I started on the water again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
