    A Couple of questions.

Baked potatoes work well for me. Not too much luck with breads and pastas yet, 3 months out. I'm okay with that as it's empty calories that I don't need. My tasted for meat has really not come back since the surgery which is okay because I'm not having much luck with those either. Trying to stay really positive because I wanted this surgery for so long and have had amazing results so far but I know I'm not getting the Protein that I should be.

    Had my surgery this week!

Too soon, you probably have a lot of water weight to get rid of from the fluids you received in the hospital. Congratulations this will be one of the best decisions you've made for your health.

    Texas?

Hi! I had my surgery November 18th in Dallas at Doctors Hospital..

    Pain?

I had more muscle pain than anything else. The incision pain was very minimal. I didn't take the pain medicine for more than 2 or three days once I was home. I have to say much like having a baby, the pain you experience is gone and forgotten and well worth it!
  7. I've had the same experience with stalling. I went the whole month of January without losing weight and was worried that I wouldn't lose anything else. I just knew I had gone through way too much to only lose 42 lbs. I've lost another 10 and I'm stalled again but I'm not so worried this time. I'm not over eating it's just my body trying to catch up to the weight loss. 52 lbs in 3 months is an awful lot for my body to get use to. I think the rest will probably come off in spurts. (I hope)
  8. Hi, I had my surgery November 18th, and your right I hadn't noticed before but there are not many of us that dared to do this right before Thanksgiving. I did have a bite of everything on Thanksgiving including turkey and pumpkin pie. I had no problem until the next day when I thought I could eat some leftover turkey. I still struggle eating meat, but I'm losing so I'm happy.

    Why did you choose bypass?

I was originally scheduled for the sleeve, but two weeks out my surgeon convinced me that the bypass was the better option because I have Barrett's esophagus and he didn't want to risk the increase acid reflux that is common with the sleeve. My GI doctor also recommended the bypass. 6 weeks out and I'm happy that is listened to these two very smart doctors. No regrets!

    So cold!

Me too! Cold all the time, I'm the one that would wear sleeveless shirts during the winter. I feel like my muscles are shivering all the time. That's good calorie burning going on right?
  11. Did get to see my GI dr. yesterday only because I had a previously scheduled appointment. He is thinking I might need the opening to my stomach stretched, he said he is seeing more and more of that. He definitely ruled out ulcers and thinks a hernia is not probable. He said at this point eat whatever will stay down and I specifically asked about the popcorn and he said he wouldn't recommend it but if that will stay down then go ahead and eat it. So he wants me to go back to the surgeon so I will go there next week. Yes I've noticed each surgeon has many differences in the diets before and after. My dr. does not believe in the pre surgery diet so I was happy to miss that step.
  12. My surgeon does not know that I'm eating popcorn, chips and salsa but I will be honest when I go for my post op visit. Have to make that appointment today. I'm going to try increasing the fluids today.

    The dreaded STALL...

Hi Dyan, I too have experienced the 2 week stall and am going through another stall right now. I found the best way for me was to increase the Protein and fluids. I've been getting little to no protein lately because of my food struggles but have made my first Protein Drink already this morning. Just have to force myself to drink it.
  14. Sorry to hear that you are having this problem but it makes me feel so much better. I had a bypass on November 18th down 42 lbs. but it seems my eating is getting worse instead of better. Most everything makes me gag or throw up. The things I really shouldn't be eating like popcorn, chips and salsa give me no problem. I can't tolerate any meat and am getting really tired of oatmeal and cream of wheat. I can eat cottage cheese but uggh I'm so tired of cold foods. I really need to get back to the surgeon for some help.
