HELP- Is this normal?

I had my surgery last Thursday and I'm experiencing occasionally a VERY sharp pain on the left side of my stomach, right under my rib cage. I don't have it all the time, or even often, but when it happens, it takes my breath away. Every time it has happened, it's been after hours, and has gone away so I haven't told my Doctor. SHould I be concerned enough to call his emergency number? Has anyone else experienced this? Is it gas?

The same thing happened to me. :) it's probably normal but be aware of it.

My pain like that was constipation. I described it as a knife inside twisting its way out. My PA put me on clear fiber three times a day and three colase before bed. Check with your doctor.

Sounds like gas to me,

Normal. Will take 6 wks to go away

Took 6 weeks for me too

I'm having pain at the incision right above my belly button and just to the right of it. My surgery was 2-26-14. I'm exercising and all but sometimes the pain stops me from wanting to move. I'm hoping it's just because they are still healing??

Every one is different. My surgery was 1/27/14. I wasn't released to work out till 4 wks. My incision at my belly button is the last one to heal. When I sit, my waistband irritates it. I wear a tank top tucked it everyday to help.

Well that just answered my question. Thank you!

I agree with jlm, too soon to workout!! Just walking right now
