  1. Oh you're kidding, right? Phen is the reason I checked into getting a lap band. I've used Phen off & on for yrs. My body just can't take it anymore. My heart beats are weird, insomnia, the blurred vision, leg cramps. Yeah, I lost a lot of weight & my house was spotless clean when I was on it, but when you quit taking it, your appetite returns & you literally crash -- no energy for awhile until your body levels out. I wish there was some other recourse for you besides that. Good luck!
  2. Congratulations on your July dates Ladies! Wishmeluck: How long did it take you to get a surgery date from the date you began the process?
  3. I hope I'm not being too forward here, but may I ask why you had to have the band replaced? (I'm not banded but want one -- I'm just now starting the insurance road trip)
  4. Congratulations on your approval! I wondered how long it takes to get a response after paperwork is submitted.
  5. Excellent explanation DBAGuy .. real food for thought. Thanks
  6. Wow, that took guts! Krystal thank you for sharing your experience. I haven't been banded. I'm on the insurance treadmill trying to get an approval. Please know you've helped me by being so honest. Hope all is going well for you kiddo!
  7. Wow, how frustrating. How long did it take you to finally get a date? Of course, look at this way, the surgeon should be fully rested when he performs your surgery. Aug 3rd will be here bf you know it. Hang in there!
  8. Thats' awesome timing. Let us know when you get a surgery date. Good luck.
  9. I'm looking for a surgeon in the Dallas area. My friend at work found a surgeon but he's from Lebanon & that kind of worries me. If you know anything about Dr. Barker, plz respond. Many Thanks~
  10. Hello Seagogirl! I think you will exercise control. We know from experience how easy it is to balloon up & how next-to-impossible it is to reduce. I too don't have the band yet, BUT i know that if I could just get a "jump start" on getting this weight off of me, I'd be like a ball rolling downhill, gaining momentum. Support & encouragement will help you along & you will find plenty of that at this site. Good luck & know that you are not alone. Take care!
  11. I have BCBS of Massachusetts (PPO plan). They will cover 90%: if you use surgeon w/n network; if your BMI is over 40, or over 35 w/1 or more co-morbid conditions (i.e., sleep apnea, high bp, diabetes, coronary artery disease, etc). I also have to get med records from my PCP showing my weight for past 5 yrs. I hope this provides some helpful insight.
  12. I found this great site this weekend. Not banded yet. A coworker & I have decided to go through this together. We meet w/Dr. Michel Stephan in Mesquite, TX on Weds. (6/13). If you have any exp w/this surgeon, plz respond. Many thanks!
