  1. I'm 19 days out and I'm struggling with everything !! Hydration is the biggest problem right now because I can feel what it's doing to my body. The only thing I'm good at is taking my vitamins. I had a pretty major setback developing pneumonia in both lungs a week and a half post op so it's made everything harder than it had to be.
  2. No, you still need to go. Take miralax and if you still don't go, call your doc. It's very serious.
  3. I had surgery 4/23 I'm still exhausted and like you I'm annoyed by it ! I'm used to always on the go, working literally 4 jobs at one time and now I have zero energy ! I used to think naps were for the weak and I'm just now to the point I can make it through the day without. I also became dehydrated and ended up with pneumonia which has drug it out even longer. I agree keep with the liquids, the protein will come later ! Hang in there, I hear it gets better ! Lol
  4. Don't wait ! Take miralax if you haven't gone already. You should never go more than a few days even after a surgery, it's very dangerous.
  5. I drank watered down apple juice on the plane.
  6. That's awesome !! Right now restaurants sound like the scariest place on earth right now to me I'm so afraid of dumping or something making me sick!
  7. I had surgery 4/23. I'm on purée until Thursday. A LOT of these suggestions sound more like "soft" food phase to me. Purée should be baby food or apple sauce consistency so unless you are blending them or mashing them into what you would give a 6 month old baby you may be getting ahead of yourself.
  8. If you had been banded chances are you would have lost some but not all your weight or perhaps none at all as the band is hard to perfectly adjust and most people find they are not crazy about the new feelings that come from being banded. If you were banded you would never feel "full" you would stop eating when the pain in your chest/shoulder or back told you too. If you were banded you would have many foods that refused to go through the band and you thew them up instead. If you were banded chances are you would have reflux from food being stuck in your pouch. You may spend countless nights sitting up because laying was too painful because you ate something within 3 hours of going to bed. Your band could embed deep into your stomach or perhaps decide to fuse to your liver. If you were banded food you ate yesterday with no problem may cause you pain and suffering today. AND I say all this as someone who loved my band, and lost all my weight !! But I know it's not a good option for anyone. If you were banded you would at some point need a revision. All WLS is a gamble, none is without consequences.
  9. I had mini bypass 4/23. Right now I pretty much hate all food. Nothing sounds good and I'm struggling to get anything in. I tried 1 scrambled egg with some cheese for the first time tonight. Besides that I eat yogurt, cottage cheese, peanut butter and my favorite right now is blended chicken noodle soup. Iv also had mashed potatoes and steamed carrots that were good. I'm thinking I'll try to add some runny refried beans later in the week. I had a few saltine crackers today with butter and just more less turned them into paste in my mouth to keep from throwing up and they helped a lot. I'm on antibiotics for pneumonia that I developed in both lungs after surgery and they make me very sick which is making everything much harder for me.
  10. I had a mini bypass 4/23. How are you doing now ?
  11. I wish I could say great but I'd be lying. However I did figure out that it's the antibiotics they gave me for the UTI and the pneumonia that is making me sick. The first 3 side effects are : nausea, vomiting and upset stomach. This has all been much harder than I was prepared for ! But I truly feel without the dehydration/UTI/pneumonia it would be smooth sailing, I haven't had any "surgery" issues so to speak. I have a couple more days on them and then I'm really hoping to start feeling myself again and with that hopefully eating and drinking will follow . Thanks for asking !
  12. Surgery 4/23 it's up and down a lot. I'm still weighting everyday but I try not to worry about it right now. I definitely feel like it should be melting off no more than I'm eating but my body has different plans ! Lol
  13. Thank you !! This is the kind of thing I know I for one need to hear ! My hubby tries hard and he is great but he really has no idea what I'm going through and he doesn't know what to do when I'm crying my eyes out that Iv ruined my life. I'm trying hard but today has been a bad day, everything I try to eat upsets my tummy for some reason.
  14. If you decide to pursue it, definitely check out Dr. Rodriguez.
  15. Yeah I felt that way too with the sleeve, the bypass is different. I'm scared to death of every food out there because I don't know what may or may not make me dump or just have serious stomach pains. I'm scared to death to eat anything away from home. Good thing you all say food isn't important because I can't stand to think about it. Drinking is he hardest though, like a job I have to make myself do. I know I'm being whiny today and having my own pitty party but I just feel like today everything sucks. I'm still trying to get over the pneumonia and the UTI and I think the antibiotics are making me feel worse as far as appetite and upset stomach.
  16. Day 16 and I'm just over it !! I just want to be able to go out with my family for Mother's Day tomorrow. I know it's not true but right now I feel like I will never be "normal" again. I can't even think about food, I kind of hate everything This is my 3rd surgery and by far the hardest !!
  17. I'm still eating mushy purée type things. I made some really runny mashed potatoes and I puréed carrots last night and cottage cheese for dinner. I'm not supposed to do soft till week 4. How do you judge amounts? I'm not sure that I can feel full yet.
  18. What are you eating ? How much and how often ?
  19. Wow, so sorry to hear about your experience. Dr. Almanza didn't even make my list when deciding on a surgeon, I didn't even need five mins of researching to know he was never to be considered. Unfortunately many others have also spoke of bad experiences with him. I'm always amazed when I see that people continue to schedule with him because of his prices. That being said, it doesn't mean that "resleeving" isn't a real thing or isn't an option for some. It is. I did extensive research for months and months looking to have it done myself. If your sleeve is large enough, a resleeving can correct it and put you back on the weight loss track but choice of surgeon is everything ! The only one I would trust to do it is Dr. Wilhmey. I however decided that if a sleeve can stretch once it can stretch again and went with a revision to a Mini bypass with Dr. Rodriguez. He took my small intestines and brought it right up to my existing sleeve a few inches from the top giving me a smaller pouch and also some (but not too much) malabsorption. Dr. Rodriguez doesn't believe in resleeveing because he doesn't think it will give the same results as the first time as your body is already used to restrictive procedures at that point. So far I'm very happy, my recover has been great (I did get dehydrated and pneumonia in both lungs) but bounced back very quickly. I don't know if you're looking for other options but I don't know why the MGB wouldn't work for you as well. Just a thought...
  20. The gas in your body actually is absorbed into your body and "passed" out the natural way. You may also burp some too. BUT it's nothing terrible and I found it had zero smell as I hadn't eaten anything to give it smell. Also, same as the others have said, you won't have a BM for a few days, my advice and I've read a lot of horror stories about impacted bowels! Don't go more than a few day without, take miralax or something similar if you go more than 4 or 5 days without. Its not worth the risk of waiting!
  21. I had a mini bypass on 4/23, the first few days had gas pain and no energy. Went back to work Tuesday still no energy, 11 days post op ended up in the ER with severe dehydration, a UTI and pneumonia in both lungs Today though only two days later, I feel pretty good! Must be the difference being hydrated can make! I'm slowly slowly adding things to my diet, right now I have Protein shakes, yogurt, pudding, Jello, a few cream Soups and as of last night small amounts of cottage cheese. I weighted 185 the day of surgery, i was 173 this morning.
  22. I had surgery Thursday, I let it go till Tuesday then took Miralax with a little grape juice and it worked in about an hour. I make sure I go at least every other day now or take Miralax. Too many horror stories out there about impacted bowels for me! If you haven't went, get something quick! It's not something to be taken lightly! I would NEVER go longer than 4 or 5 days without taking something.
  23. We are going to gatlinburg then Myrtle Beach. Mainly some walking and seeing shows. I won't be going anywhere that I can't take a break if need be. I know I probably can't go swimming and all that, Fluid won't be a problem we have a cooler tht I pack down with Water anyway for al of us. You say fluid won't be a problem, but read the hundreds of posts on here about how much of a struggle it really is. You have zero appetite and zero desire to put anything in your mouth at all. It's like a job to keep drinking, its truly hard! Luckily I don't get nauseous like a lot of others do and mine goes down without feeling stuck again like some other feel but it's still hard work. Also expect very low energy the first couple weeks and when I say low, I mean I needed a nap after I took a shower because that was too much for me! I'm not trying to scare you or say it's not possible, just saying expect that it might not be as easy or as relaxing as you hope.
  24. I had zero pain after the gas was gone about 4 days post op...BUT I ended up in the ER at 11 days post op with severe dehydration, a UTI and pneumonia in both lungs. Now, 2 days later, I feel pretty darn good and I'd be up for a vacation now lol I guess just be prepared for anything though, I never expected the dehydration or that it would be SO hard to get my fluids in. The pneumonia, it happens, luckily it was caught quick.
  25. I was one that went back quickly, surgery on Thursday, back to work Tuesday. It was hard just because of the low energy but doable. I also flew home from surgery (Mexico) 2 days post op. Ask your surgeon, I find they all have various requirements/recommendations even when it comes to lifting.
