  1. It absolutely can and will stretch if you're not careful ! Iv worked with sleeve patients for years and have seen plenty of patients gain weight back from stretching the sleeve. I myself am one of them and I have xray pics at one day post op and one year post op to prove how much it has stretched. Why do you think their are revision surgeons that now resleeve patients? Just be careful, don't over eat to the point of misery and avoid carbonation. My sleeve was a 42 Bougie and I had scar tissue as well which made mine easier to stretch but it happens to others too.
  2. Oh wow, sorry to hear that, if anything it should confirm that you are making the right decision to have it removed! Good luck and hope you start feeling better soon ! Thanks for the link, I actually just read that yesterday in some last minute obsessive searching for anything to calm my nerves ! lol
  3. Your date is getting very close now. Just want to wish you all the best for the op amd a speedy and uneventful recovery. Take care Chrissy Thank you so much!! I'm back and forth between excitement and terror right now depending on the day ! Lol
  4. It's very quick actually, I'll be flying back home Saturday night as long as all goes well ! Fingers crossed !
  5. It's prob easier if you do a quick search and then scan the images of full bypass VS mini but mostly it's less surgery time, less invasive (only one new connection to make) easier recovery and less risk of complication with just as good and most believe even better weight loss. The stomach pouch is longer (like the sleeve) but they do bypass a little more of the intestines (around 7').
  6. Just had my surgery with Dr Rodrigues on April 11th in Juarez. He and his team are amazing. Only thing is that the nursing staff does not speak a lot of English so if you download a translator app on your phone it makes it a lot easier to communicate. I'm only a few days post op and feeling great. That's great ! Thanks for the advice ! Any issues going through Juarez ? Did you feel safe ?Hi, no issues at all crossing into Mexico. It was quite the wait going across into Mexico, very busy place that boarder crossing. I did feel really safe the whole time. They even have a 24 hour security guard on the floor (I was on second floor). My husband came with me and he even went out to the mall across the street and did not feel unsafe at all. That's good to hear !! Iv been a little worried after reading how bad things were a few years ago ! It's a little overwhelming when you consider everyone worries about surgery, but add flying across the country, crossing into a foreign country in a town once known as the most dangerous city in the world and it's a little stressful !! Lol
  7. Yep ! This time next week I'll be sitting on the plane !!!

  9. I'm on the 23rd, who did you decide on ?
  10. I'm band to sleeve and soon to be mini gastric bypass on 4/23. I'm hoping 3rd times the charm ! I was very successful with the band but the sleeve has been terrible. Always hungry and can eat anything and everything as much as I want like it never even happened. The 23rd can't get here soon enough !
  11. Since Iv had my surgery scheduled for a few weeks Iv been unfortunately eating anything and everything Iv wanted and Iv gained 7 lbs the pre op diet will be a relief at this point as Iv been feeling pretty gross. I start Sunday and my surgery is Thursday.
  12. I had a friend sleeved with MS and her recovery was slower and harder on her than most but she is doing well now. I had surgery Friday and went back on a Tuesday where as she needed almost 3 weeks off.
  13. Thankfully my husband has been supportive from the start, it's my parents and grandparents who are not. Right now, the 23rd can't get here soon enough ! I'm so ready to lose this weight !! Best of luck to you, he will come around when he sees how happy it makes you and how much better your feel
  14. Mini gastric bypass
  15. I'm scheduled with Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez Mexico on 4/23. I will post my experiences after of coarse. Dr. Rod has performed over 10,000 bariatric surgeries, he is well reviewed and well credentialed and I will spend the whole time in a modern hospital.
  16. I don't know about you guys but mine can't get here soon enough ! Ready to start losing and stop gaining !!
  17. had a lapband for 6 years, I LOVED my band, I went from 223 to 139 lbs and I maintained around 145 for years ! However, in order to do that I had to keep the band very tight. I couldn't eat anything before noon or after 6 without pain and suffering. When my body had enough I had shoulder pain and chest pain and never just felt full. I was always dehydrated and ended up with kidney stones twice but i was happy to sacrifice because I was a size 6/8 for the first time in my life ! But live long enough that way and it causes problems (severe reflux) and just misery any time you eat or try too. My surgeon started offering the sleeve and after years of "selling" the band to others (with my personal success as a witness) I asked him to revise me to the sleeve because everyone said how wonderful it was. Well for many it is but for me I hate mine. It's not always the same for someone who has had prior surgery so as I type this today, I have gained 20 lbs since the sleeve and it's a fight (that I'm losing) to not gain more. I had many barium swallows over the years that always showed a dilated pouch. Sorry so long, I pasted it from a prior post lol
  18. @cute 1 Have you consulted with Dr. Rod at all ? Any ideas what happened with your sleeve?
  19. Yes ! You are not alone ! I was banded in 2007 and did great as well. I revised to sleeve in 2013 and I hate it and Iv gained 20 lbs with it and I'm always hungry and it's truly like I never even had surgery at all of any kind. I never imagined that I would even consider any type if malabsorption procedure but I'm scheduled to revise to a mini bypass in less than 2 weeks and I can't wait to put this small detour (sleeve) behind me and get back to losing weight again !
  20. This morning I weighed 187, hardly skinny ! My BMI is 31, that's officially obese.
  21. When i consulted with dr. Rod about resleeving I was told he doesn't think it's a good idea and recommends the revision to MGB instead, I did a ton of research and have to say I agree, he is doing mine on 4/23.
  22. I'm scheduled for MGB on 4/23. From what Iv read dumping is well controlled with proper diet and as long as you keep up on vitamins and protein shouldn't have any issues with that either. There is a board here under other procedures that has some good info.
  23. Thankfully Iv been told all those things are possible, but I still think it will be worth it !
  24. I did great with the band but revised to sleeve only to find myself steadily gaining more and more weight, I'm revising to MGB on 4/23 and I couldn't be more excited ! Iv read so many great things about it, I'm ready to beat this once and for all !
  25. I'm SO sorry to hear about your husband, that must have been terrible for you. Yes, I'm sure my dilated esophagus was from keeping the band too tight for so many years. I hate that Iv gained weight but I don't miss the band at all. Have you looked into the MGB ? I never ever thought I would consider it but I haven't read a single negative thing about it ..
