I can't wait to not worry about sitting on a plastic chair at a picnic or get together and having it crash down on the floor with me on top of it.
I can't wait to be able to put on shoes, socks and pants without getting winded.
I can't wait to be able to stand for long periods of time without my knees and feet and lower back aching.
I can't wait to stop my cholesterol meds and cpap machine!!!
I wanna walk PAST Lane Bryant, not INTO Lane Bryant.
Also, I can't wait to show my side by side before and after photos :-)

I can't wait to NOT make those not-so-delicate breath-holding, grunting sounds when I get up from sitting on the floor, or get out of bed, or bend down to pick up something from the floor...

    So many things!
To not always be the fattest person in the room
To be able to travel internationally again and not immediately stand out as the "fat American" (or have people point, laugh, make rude comments)
To shop and buy regular sized clothes
To go on dates with successful men that don't have fat fetishes (and find someone to marry!)
    To learn to scuba dive!
To not be afraid of breaking a folding chair, fit in a seat, etc.
To really live and not let my weight hold me back!!

I am very lucky my husband didn't marry me for my cooking. He says he married me because I'm hot!
I make 1 healthy meal and enough for 2. If my husband doesn't want or like what I'm having he can pick something up or make something for himself. IMHO: He is almost 40, has 2 hands, 2 feet, and quite capable. And, I am his wife, not his mom.

Nope. This is the end of the road for WLS for me. I'm not going to fail on this. Having a back up plan with, "well, if the sleeve doesn't work, I have another option" my dieting life existed on excuses and my life is done with that.
If I don't believe in my self now, I never will. I am going to be and I am going always continue to be successful. PERIOD!

Many of us came online tonight to find many changes. especially in the chat room. Most of us are very unhappy with the new changes- we can no longer chat and read posts at the same time, the format is different and we can no longer private message. now we hear about upcoming changes to include "premium" membership? wth?
Many of us have found invaluable support and advice from this site. we look forward to the daily interaction. however, i will not be paying for services on this site. I thought thats what all these ads are on here for.
I, for one, am very upset about these changes that occurred without any notifications whatsoever.
Please, reconsider these changes. why fix something that isnt broken?
All of you who dont agree with these changes please hit "like" or post to show our solidarity. Havent we been thru enough already?!
Sorry this turned out to be a rant, we are all upset right now.

ninanew reacted to Lisa's Hope in Official One Year Before & After Pic. Down 120 Pounds.
Tomorrow is my official one year anniversary. This time last year I was so scared and excited about the surgery that was to happen the next morning. I remember the 1 hour drive to the hospital. I was so sick, miserable, and huge at that time and I knew I had to do this to get my life back. I knew that when I went through the surgery room doors, there would be no turning back.
When I awoke, I had pain and thought to myself "what in the world have I done". I was so thirsty and had so much stuff hooked to me. I had a pain pump catheter that was dispensing pain meds straight to my new tummy. By the afternoon, I was walking around and the next morning, I was ready to come home. I was suppose to stay one more day but I wanted to leave and so I did. When I got home... OH my goodness, I was in such pain!! Once I got my meds, I was fine though.
Recovery went slow for me but I didn't have any major complications. Thank the good Lord! I would do it again and I'm so glad that God helped me through this and I had faith to just trust Him.
As of today, I am down 120 pounds and am 20 pounds from goal. I started at a size 24/26 and am now a 10/12. The jeans I have on in the pic are 10's but they are so tight!! LOL
To all the new people that are thinking about having the sleeve. Just know that it is all worth it but it isn't easy. At least for me it wasn't. Now I'm working on the last 20 pounds and it is so hard to get the scale to move. I know that I will make it though. It may take 6 more months, but it will happen.
I'm so grateful for this forum. Thanks to all of you that always post wonderful compliments on my post!! It has been a great journey and I'm so thankful!

ninanew reacted to Vixynne in swimsuits that cover loose skin?
Your post reminded me of an article I read online about the actress, Mayim Bialik (she played the lead role on "Blossom" in the 90's and is now Amy Farrah-Fowler on "Big Bang Theory"). Mayim wrote a blog about wanting to wear modest swimwear to honor her Jewish beliefs, and she included a website link to a page called Hydrochic. Their stuff looks awfully cute to me, and would probably cover most loose skin issues.
Here's the link if you're interested:

ninanew reacted to LI Gemini NY in Preventive measures: Angelina Jolie versus me
So we all heard, she removed her boobies (and planning on removing her ovaries) because she's high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. I think it's absolutely brilliant, my grandma and my mom both suffer from breast cancer, my grandma is doing well, my mom on the other hand not so much. The cancer has spread to her bones, she's constantly in pain, her bones always break doing simple things like tying her shoelaces. It's crazy, she's had radiation daily, chemo 2 or 3x per week and all sorts of other doctors appointments. Also she has lost her vision as a side effect of one of her meds. So yes, I applaud Angelina Jolie for avoiding a life like my mom's. Who in the right mind would want to go through this if it could be prevented?!?
So here I am, I want to have 80% of my stomach removed because I am at a high risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity related cancers and about a cazillion other things.
What makes Angelina Jolie better than me? We both wants to lower our risks for diseases.....why is society praising her and criticizing us? Yes, I can lose weight and yes she can overcome cancer, what the hell is the difference?
    Oye!!

Hi - my name is Nina. I live in San Francisco. I'm currently considering VSG, my first consultation with the surgeon is May 24. In the past I wasn't interested in WLS (RnY or DS) because the potential side effects sounded not worth the risk. But VSG sounds better. My insurance however doesn't cover any type of WLS, so I will have to self-pay.
I've been struggling with my weight all my life, gone up and down and up again so many times I've lost count.
I'm hoping the tool I gain through VSG will be the key to me achieving a healthy weight and staying there. We'll see!
I'm learning as much as I can by reading everyone's posts!
    Happy Friday!

Congrats on your loss of weight and meds!
This is one of my goals to be off of as many meds as possible.
I will gladly replace them with Vitamins
Another goal is to not have the blood pressure cuff re-pump on my fat arm when it should be done.
It really hurts. I don't think thin people realize that.
